Nuisance Sex Behaviors Human sexual behavior refers to the manner in which humans experience and express their

sexuality. People engage in a variety of sexual acts from time to time, and for a wide variety of reasons. Sexual activity normally results in sexual arousal and physiological changes in the aroused person, some of which are pronounced while others are more subtle. However, there are also many sexual behaviors that are completely abhorrent to the senses of most people. These sexual behaviors maybe often viewed in a less serious fashion than those actual sex crimes that cause serious trauma and death, but nonetheless these sexual behaviors that are considered as nuisances may hold the key to understanding those who move into more serious sex offenses. Paraphilia a condition of being recurrently responsive to, and obsessively dependant on, an unusual or unacceptable stimulus, whether perceptual or in fantasy, in order to have a state of erotic arousal initiated or maintained and in order to achieve or facilitate orgasm, since it involves a segment of the preparatory phase of an erotic and sexual encounter. Sexual impulse disorders characterized by intensely arousing Recurrent sexual fantasies, urges and activities that are considered deviant with respect to current cultural norms. Coupled with a compulsive force as well. A paraphilia is not diagnosable as a psychiatric disorder unless it causes distress to the individual or harm to others. Examples are: Pedophilia (Prepubescent children),

Sexual Fetishism (non-living objects), Masochism (suffering being beaten, bound or otherwise humiliated), Erotolalia (deriving major sexual satisfaction from talking about or listening to talk about sex), Erotomania (a compulsive interest in sexual matters) Scopophilia or scoptophilia, or voyeurism is the act of deriving pleasure from looking. As an expression of sexuality, it refers to sexual pleasure derived from looking at erotic objects: erotic photographs, pornography, naked bodies, etc. It can also be described as intermittent desire of gazing at. Pictophilia deriving of ones principal sexual satisfaction from erotic pictures of nude paintings, drawings, or the like

1. Watching persons who are undressing, undressed, or in the act of sexual intercourse. 2. Watching X-rated videos or movies or reading hardcore pornography can be viewed as one form of voyeurism. 3. There is a bit of a voyeur in each and every one of us. 4. Spying on people who are involved in sexual intercourse is quite another. 5. What sets it apart from the other act of viewing a beautiful body or nude body is that the element of pleasure one gets when he/she knew that they are undetected. The invasion of the private scene also becomes an integral part of the definition. 6. Some voyeurs will go to great pains and extremes just to capture a look. 7. The strip club and the Internet. 8. Courtship disordered 9. Multiple paraphilias existed in a single offender. (Voyeurs are at some point, exhibitionist too)

10.In each scoptophiliacs mental state, there is a fantasy that provides a script for behavior in which the fantasies are violent and sadistic in content PROSTITUTION -The exchange of sexual favors for economic or monetary gain TYPES STREETWALKERS selects clients while waiting at street corners usually dress in skimpy, provocative clothing, regardless of the weather customers are usually called tricks or johns sex is usually performed in the customer's car, in a nearby alley, or in a rented room most dangerous - Streetwalkers are at higher risks from beatings, rape, and even murder. HOUSE PROSTITUTES Brothels are establishments specifically dedicated to prostitution, often confined to special redlight districts in big cities. Prostitution also occurs in some massage parlours, and in some barber shops where sexual services may be offered as a secondary function of the premises. PROFESSIONAL CALL GIRLS/ ESCORTS aristocrats of prostitution - highest paid, therefore also, hold the highest status Cater to a small but usually professional clientele act takes place at the customer's residence or hotel room (referred to as out-call), or at the escort's residence or in a hotel room rented for the occasion by the escort (called in-call). PROSTITUTION ON THE INTERNET the proliferation on the internet across the world has been a medium for not only the prostitute to

advertise services but also for the exploitation of prostitutes (Hughes, 2003). ISSUES IN THE ETIOLOGY OF THE PROSTITUTE Child abuse, emotional, sexual, or physical, overwhelmingly plays an integral role in the etiology of a male prostitute. Fraad (1997) believes that many prostitutes came from homes where there is sexual abuse, particularly incest Consequences on involvement in prostitution are many and complex Inequities in income between the genders Substance Abuse Physical and emotional abuse from customers and/or pimps. Health risks Death TRIOLISM- a sexual pattern in which erotic stimulation is gained by watching oneself or oneself with others in sexual scenes Several forms: 1. Gaining sexual arousal and gratification from seeing oneself in some form of sexual scene (e.g. photographic themselves in sexual acts, taking video footage of their sexual act). Individuals use ceiling mirrors, instant cameras and video cameras as tools. 2. Seeking pleasure through sharing a sexual partner with another person while the triolist looks on 3. Two couples having sexual relations at the same time in the sight of each other (swingers) Swingers are mate-swappers sometimes called caundalism. Caundalism is a behavior in which males expose their female partners nude photographs or video footages

Characteristics of swingers: Had moved often in the past five years Were relatively new to the community Were members of the middle class Were conservative in their political views Identified little with religion Belonged to more community group than non-swingers 2 types of swingers: 1. Open swingers - join national and local swinging clubs and have a wide range of sexual partners. Through joining swinging clubs, they are exposed to a large number of persons who are potential partners 2. Closed swingers- have sexual experiences with only few people, usually personal acquaintances 5 Common fears of swingers: 1. Fear that their children will discover their behavior 2. Fear that family and relatives will discover they are swingers 3. Fear that the employer will find out 4. Fear of disease 5. Fear of intimacy Swinging cuts across socio-economic backgrounds. Swingers can compartmentalize sex apart from love and see sex for the sake of pleasure. Swingers make ads in swingers magazine to invite potential sexual partners. There may also be homosexual aspects in mate swapping. Husband forces the wife into swinging. The wife wants to continue in most cases. Triolism seldom comes to the attention of those in law enforcement unless it affects family or personal functioning Since the basic etiology is unknown, the best way of treatment so far is behavioral counseling.

Exhibitionism is the deliberate exposure of one's genitals under inappropriate situations. characterized by urges, acts or fantasies of exposing one's genitals to a stranger, often with the intent of shocking the unsuspecting victim the exhibitionist is often male and the victim female, the confrontation typically happens in public places Main goal of the exhibitionist: sexual arousal by exposing oneself. Fantasies about being watched and admired by female observers were common among exhibitionists. The exhibitionist's arousal comes from observing the victims' surprise, fear or disgust or from a fantasy that his victim is becoming sexually aroused. More than 2/3 reported that they would not have sex with the victim even if she were receptive (Langevin et al., 1979) Theories on why exhibitionists expose themselves: 1) The act of exposure, accompanied by masturbation, serves as a means of reducing stress. 2) A female has somehow damaged the exhibitionist and he is lashing out against all women in the hope that his psyche can be restored. 3) An exhibitionist may be suffering from extreme feelings of personal inadequacy and a low sense of masculinity and needs affirmation to reinforce these feelings. 4) An exhibitionist feels anger and resentment toward people in general and women in particular. Treatment of exhibitionism Aversion therapy Psychotherapy and rehabilitation through cognitive-behavioral treatment

Transvestism The transvestite is typically a heterosexual male, often married, who dresses in the clothes of the other sex initially because of sexual reasons. The transvestite cross-dresses to reduce stress. A transvestite may believe that the world of a female is a less stressful one. Etiology The exact etiology of transvestism is unknown. It may be that they suffer from an extremely low self-esteem. It may also be that for some reason the world of the female appears to hold pleasant memories; it may be a place where there are fewer pressures than men normally experience in their lives. Many transvestites start their cross-dressing at an early age accompanied with masturbation. Some classify transvestite as a fetishist. Hence, some view transvestite as a person with an inordinate desire for cross-dressing and note that the practice is not tied to one particular fetish object. The transvestite commences cross-dressing at an early age, and this behaviour becomes intimately attached to sexual feelings. It is unlikely that anyone can accurately estimate the number of men who are transvestites. It is for most a hidden sexual behaviour. Transvestite vs Transsexual A transsexual is a person who has gender personal identity problems. The transsexual is biologically one gender and psychological the other. To rectify this situation, many transsexuals will undergo the pain and expense of matching the body with the mind. There are two type of Transsexuals; Preoperative and Postoperative.

Cross-dressing as a crime While cross-dressing is in itself often not a crime, there are some jurisdictions that dressing in another sexs clothing is against the law and the person is liable for arrest. This law is worded to apply only to the male. Some jurisdictions make it illegal to be partially cross-dressed (eg. In bra and panties, although not completely drag). Motivation to cross-dress The initial reason to cross-dress may be sexual, but later arises the motivation to enter into the world of the female, where the stress is viewed lower. One may argue about the accuracy of the perception of the world of the female; but from the transvestites perception of stress is less Infantilism sexual play activity wherein participants pretend to be helpless infants wear diapers (diaperism), drink milk from a bottle willing female partner will permit partner to suckle at the breast while pouring milk onto breast to simulate lactation With some, person will urinate and defecate into the diaper and wants partner to change the diapers Diaper Pail Friends (15, 000 members) there appears to be an element of stress reduction for the practitioner of this sexual activity SCATOPHILIA A condition of those who are fond of making obscene phone calls, and are sexually aroused by the horrified reactions of those they victimize. Difference from exhibitionism: acts are more aggressive yet more distant Imagery and fantasy play important roles for scatophiliacs (some may cross-dress to increase

sexual excitement, and typically facilitates orgasm through masturbation) Common types of offenders Usually males who: 1) feel inadequate, 2) have problems in developing relationships, 3) have feelings of isolation, 4) perceive their fathers as supermen, and 5) feel that their mothers never loved them (Murray & Ben, 1968) 1.Obscene 2.Anonymous 3.Humorous 4.Witty 5.Miscellaneous (Leising, 1985) 1.Sexual chronic caller who is open about his reasons for calling 2.Caller who begins with a believable sexual problem then becomes graphic or vulgar 3.Sexually abusive caller who describes in a cold, detached manner how he raped or assaulted a female victim A scatophiliac typically makes his calls by dialling random phone numbers. Fortunately, these obscene callers seldom make personal contact with the people they have called.
