*NOTE!* This guide is for Angel's Feather with the 18+ add-on. I have not played without the add-on, so if you are playing without the 18+ add-on, be aware that there will be things in this guide that are not consistent with a game in which the add-on is not applied.

~~~~~
Angel's Feather is a game that has 22 possible couplings, and is not only a 10
chapter ADV, but also an RPG as well. Therefore, this can prove to be an extremely long game, and replaying to get all the CGs quite a taxing chore. This guide is designed to try to help you capture all the CGs in the shortest amount of time possible, but be warned it still will probably take around 5 games to complete full capture.
Since setting things up correctly is so important to cut down on the amount of replays, I'm doing my guide a little backwards by talking about how to get the Love Endings first. The pairing events, RPG mode commands, chapter playguide, and CG capture list follow.
LOVE ENDINGS ------------
As stated above, there are twenty-two different couplings to win in the game:
Shou/Kai * Kai/Shou * Shou/Anri * Shou/Sena * Sena/Shou * Kai/Anri * Kai/Sena * Sena/Kai * Chris/Shou * Chris/Kai * Chris/Anri * Chris/Sena * Sena/Chris * Sena/Anri * Shion/Chris (two endings) * Chris/Shion * Shion/Shou * Shion/Kai * Shion/Anri * Shion/Sena * Naoto/Shou * Nagi/Kai
A pairing is set up by having three Love Events for that pairing within the game. Interestingly enough, the love events are set up similar to the Japanese "Level A, B,
and C" description of relationships: the first Love Event is a confession of love and usually involves a kiss scene, the second Love Event involves being more physical, and the third Love Event is sex. You have to get all three Love Events in order to win that pairing at the end of the game.
Love Events -----------
Love Events occur when one character visits another character in ADV Mode at either the dorms in Chapters 2 through 6, or at town in Ch. 9. You will know you have triggered a Love Event because you will be given two options when you are visiting that character: the first option is always to go ahead with the Love Event, and the second option is to NOT get the Love Event.
However, Love Events will not always trigger right away! Sometimes it takes a little persistence to trigger a Love Event. Here are some things to do to help trigger Love Events:
1. Always visit the peeping location first! This is typically always the second to the last option on the dorm/inn option list (the last being to return to your room, thus ending the turn). Below I have the dorm/inn options outlined for each chapter so you may refer to it for the peeping locations. Watching these Peeping Events helps trigger Love Events.
2. If after watching the Peeping Event you visit your character and still don't get
the Love Event options, try visiting your character several times in a row. Sometimes on the second or third try, the event will trigger.
3. If you've done both of the above and it still won't trigger, sometimes visiting someone else in-between visiting the person you are trying to get the Love Event with will help trigger it.
4. At Love Event Stage 2 and 3, the seme of the pairing has to visit the uke to trigger the event (at least to my knowledge, I have never been able to trigger a Stage 2 or Stage 3 Love Event with the uke of the pairing). In most mixed seme-uke pairings, either may visit the other for Love Event Stage 2, and whichever character visits the other at Love Event Stage 3 will be the seme.
Remember, if you have already received a Love Event between two characters, then you will NOT be able to trigger any Love Events between one of those characters and another character later.
The Love Events are generated as follows:
-Love Event Stage 1 - In Chapters 2 through 6 (please refer to the "Chapter Playguide" section later in this guide to see where specifically these occur) -or- in Ch. 9 (there are also different CGs that unlock based on whether you get Love Event Stage 1 before Ch. 9 or during Ch. 9. Check the "Getting Love Endings" section below for a shortcut on getting both sets of CGs.)
-Night Thought Event - After you have received Love Event Stage 1 for a couple, you will see a scene of those two characters thinking about one another at night in Ch. 9. These occur after your turn in town during ADV Mode.
-Love Event Stage 2 - In Ch. 9, any time before completing the Sea stage. This will only occur if you have already had Love Event Stage 1 for a couple. Only the seme of the coupling may trigger the event.
-Special Events - In Ch. 9, a few couples have special events that occur during the RPG Mode stages, which typically will take place if that couple has had Love Event Stage 2. Check in the "Pairing Events" section to see if a couple has a special event and where it occurs.
-Love Event Stage 3 - In Ch. 9, after completing the Sea stage. This will only occur if you have already had the first two Love Events. Only the seme of the coupling can trigger the event. You will only be able to get Love Event Stage 3 for one couple per game. (Check the "Getting Love Endings" section below for shortcuts on getting endings).
Getting Love Endings --------------------
So, what is the shortest possible method of winning all the couples? Certainly replaying 22 times would be horribly taxing, so there are shortcuts one can use to
win endings in less plays.
Saves:
First and foremost is keeping good save points, and there aren't that many available (only 20). Backing up your save folder frequently may be a good idea, so you don't accidentally cover over one of those "important saves" that will cut down on your playing time. It also is not a bad idea to keep notes of exactly what each save is to refer to later (for example, I kept a log that said things like, "Slot 12, Ch. 9-3 - Options before the Volcano stage, no one paired").
I personally make a save point before every set of character select options in ADV Mode. This way you can reload to a save and pick different characters to play as in that scenerio, or visit different locations. This is vital to unlocking CGs. Here is how I set up my saves:
#01 - Ch. 2-4: Before Ch. 2 school options #02 - Ch. 2-9: Before Ch. 2 dorm options *Make sure to visit Naoto in the bathrooms!* #03 - Ch. 3-3: Before Ch. 3 school options [Start from here for Naoto/Shou] #04 - Ch. 3-9: Before Ch. 3 dorm options #05 - Ch. 4-1: Before Ch. 4 school options #06 - Ch. 4-4: Before Ch. 4 dorm options [Start from here for Shou/Kai] #07 - Ch. 5-10: Before Ch. 5 school options #08 - Ch. 5-12: Before Ch. 5 dorm options [Start from here for Nagi/Kai] #09 - Ch. 6-5: Before Ch. 6 school options
#10 - Ch. 6-11: Before Ch. 6 dorm options [Start from here for Kai/Shou] #11 - Ch. 7-1: Before Ch. 7 school options #12 - Ch. 9-3: Before Ch. 9 town options (Before visiting the Volcano) #13 - Ch. 9-5: Before Ch. 9 town options (After visiting the Volcano) #14 - Ch. 9-7: Before Ch. 9 town options (After visiting the Forest) #15 - Ch. 9-9: Before Ch. 9 town options (After visiting the Mine) #16 - Ch. 9-11: Before Ch. 9 town options (After visiting the Lake) #17 - Ch. 9-13: Before Ch. 9 town options (After visiting the Desert) [Start from here for Love Events 1 and 2 for three couples] #18 - Ch. 9-15: Before Ch. 9 town options (After visiting the Sea) [Start from here for Love Event 3 for one of your three paired couples] #19 - Extra slot (I HIGHLY suggest saving a copy of Ch. 9-13 where no one is paired up yet in this slot) #20 - Extra slot (A suggestion would be playing a Special Couple scenerio in this slot instead of covering over your other saves)
As you can see from above, you will have to do about 5 main play-throughs of the game, but none of them have to start from the very beginning as long as you set things up correctly. In fact, you can get the majority of endings with only having to replay the second two RPG Mode levels, drastically cutting down on the amount of playing you have to do for full CG capture.
Method for Standard Couple Love Endings:
This technique works for the following pairings: Shou/Anri * Shou/Sena * Sena/Shou * Kai/Anri * Kai/Sena * Sena/Kai * Chris/Shou * Chris/Kai * Chris/Anri * Chris/Sena * Sena/Chris * Sena/Anri * Shion/Chris (two endings) * Chris/Shion * Shion/Shou * Shion/Kai * Shion/Anri * Shion/Sena
However, there is a shortcut for the pairings with switched seme-uke positions, which will be described below in "Method for Switched Seme-Uke Couple Love Endings." Also, this method will NOT work for Shou/Kai, Kai/Shou, Naoto/Shou, and Nagi/Kai, who require to be set up earlier in the game, so you have to play additional chapters for those couples. Winning these special couples is outlined below in the "Method for Special Couple Love Endings" section.
1. As you play the game, make a save point at each character-select option screen in the ADV portions of the game (you may want to use my save slot setup above). At Ch. 4-4 (right before the dorm options), select a couple and get their Love Event Stage 1. However, DO NOT SAVE IT! Reload back to the Ch. 4-4 save and get a new pairing, again not saving, and repeat until you've seen each Love Event Stage 1 (Shou/Anri, Chris/Shou, Chris/Anri, Sena/Anri, Chris/Sena, Shion/Shou, Shion/Anri, Shion/Chris, Kai/Anri, and Chris/Kai). Then reload back to your Ch. 4-4 save and DON'T get ANY Love Events, and continue your game. You can avoid getting Love Events by visiting locations that don't have the boys, just going back to your room, or if given the Love Event options, pick the second option to cancel the event. At your Ch. 6-11 save point, you will do the same thing: select a couple, get their Love Event, and then reload WITHOUT saving and do it again until you have viewed all the new available couplings (Sena/Shou, Sena/Anri, Sena/Kai,
Chris/Sena, Shion/Kai, and Shion/Sena). When finished, reload again to your Ch. 6-11 save and DON'T get ANY Love Events.
The reason for viewing them here is that the CGs are different in the gallery based on whether you get Love Event Stage 1 before Ch. 9 or in Ch. 9. We don't want to pair anyone up before Ch. 9-13, so this way you can capture the CGs but then just reload and continue without pairing anyone. Make sure as you continue through the game to always save on each option screen, there may be points later that you need to go back to for tricky CGs.
2. Going into Ch. 9, you should have no one paired up. -DO NOT- pair anyone up in Ch. 9 before the Ch. 9-13 town options (right after visiting the Desert stage, and right before visiting the Sea stage), and make SURE you make a save point here (an extra one is also recommended). Again, you can just avoid getting Love Events at the inn the same way as at the dorm: don't visit someone if you think it will trigger their event, and if it does, pick the second option to cancel it, or simply choose to go to your room from the location list. (However, getting the normal event CGs by having a character visit another is fine; just don't get any Love Events with them!)
3. Load from your 9-13 save point (before the Sea stage, in slot #17 in my save setup above). Stay in town and get Love Event Stage 1 and Love Event Stage 2 for three pairings (and remember, you can't pair one person up with more than one other character, so you will pair each of the 6 characters once). After getting all your pairings to the Stage 2 Love Event, if one of your pairings has
a Special Event in a previous stage, select to go back to that stage and get the event. A list of these Special Events is in the "Special Events" section of this guide.
4. Play through the Sea stage and aquire the Moon Spirit. When you get back to town, save your game in the next slot (which is slot #18 in my save setup above). It is very important to -NOT- save over your Ch. 9-13 save file! This new save will be be listed as Ch. 9-15 on your save menu. Now get the Love Event Stage 3 for one of the three couples that you have set up. After you get this Love Event you will automatically start Chapter 10, so if you need to do any leveling in the previous stages, then do that first.
5. Play through Ch. 10. After the ending credits, you will get the ending for your paired couple. Now reload to your Ch. 9-15 save file, and get Love Event Stage 3 for another of your three set up couples. Play Ch. 10 again, and get their ending. Then repeat again for the last couple you have set up. (So you will end up playing Ch. 10 three times, once for each couple. There is an exception for switched seme-uke pairings, which is described below in "Method for Switched Seme-Uke Couple Love Events".)
6. Now reload to your Ch. 9-13 save file (the one after the Desert stage but before the Sea stage). Stay in town and do Love Event 1 and Love Event 2 for three new couples (followed by going back to previous stages for Special Events if any of your couplings have one). Then pass the Sea stage, and now save your game again over Ch. 9-15's save file (make sure you already won your previous three
couples before saving over it).
7. Now repeat Step 5 for these three new couples. As you can see, now you can win almost all the pairings with only having to replay Ch. 9-13 (once for every three pairings) and Ch. 10 (once for each pairing). Certainly beats starting at Ch. 4, doesn't it?
However, there is another shortcut you can use on the pairings that have switched seme and uke positions. Please refer below.
Method for Switched Seme-Uke Couple Love Endings:
This technique works for the following pairings: Shou/Sena * Sena/Shou * Kai/Sena * Sena/Kai * Chris/Sena * Sena/Chris
It does NOT work on the following pairings: Shou/Kai, Kai/Shou, Shion/Chris, and Chris/Shion. Shou/Kai and Kai/Shou are special pairings that must be set up in previous chapters, and the Shion and Chris endings are very picky on the viewing of Special Events, so they have to be done separately.
1. First, follow the method stated above. Load from your Ch. 9-13 save and set up your three pairings (one or more of which are ones with characters that switch their seme or uke positions). Stay in town and do Love Event 1 and Love Event 2, followed by going back to previous stages for Special Events if any of your
couplings have one. In fact, most of the Special Events that do occur are for mixed seme-uke couples. Please refer to the "Special Events" section below in the guide for information on how to get these events. There is a Special Event for Sena/Kai (if Sena is the one that visited Kai for Love Event Stage 2), and two different Special Events based on if Shou visited Sena for Love Event Stage 2 or Sena visited Shou for Love Event Stage 2, and that section describes how to get these events. It also describes how to get the different endings for Shion/Chris and Chris/Shion based on their Special Events.
2. After having your couples set up, pass the Sea stage, and now save your game again over Ch. 9-15's save file (again, make sure you've won all the endings off of your previous 9-15 save first). Now get the Love Event Stage 3 for one of your couples. The character you pick to visit the second character will be seme (for example, if Sena visits Shou, then Sena will be the seme).
3. After getting the Love Event, reload to the Ch. 9-15 save file, and this time pick the other character first (so following the previous example, this time have Shou visit Sena). You will get a new Love Event Stage 3 where now the uke from the previous Love Event is now the seme. Now play through Ch. 10, getting the ending for that couple. The ending CGs are the same no matter who is seme or uke, only the third Love Event changes, so you only have to play Ch. 10 once per switched seme-uke pairing.
Method for Special Couple Love Endings:
For Shou/Kai, Kai/Shou, Naoto/Shou, and Nagi/Kai, you will have to do a bit of replaying from earlier stages. These couples require certain triggers in the earlier part of the game. However, none of them require starting from the very beginning: Naoto/Shou starts from Ch. 2 or 3, Shou/Kai from Ch. 4, Nagi/Kai from Ch. 5, and Kai/Shou from Ch. 6 (you will still have to do each in separate games, though.)
Remember, in each scenerio you need to have no one paired up initially. So for example, if you start at Ch. 3 and start saving over your saves after hooking up Naoto/Shou, then you can't reload from your saves in Ch. 4, Ch. 5, or Ch. 6 for Shou/Kai, Kai/Shou, or Nagi/Kai. So make sure you are careful with your saves!
If you have a set of saves with no one paired up, back them up first! (I just copy the save folder and call it Save2). Especially if you have a Ch. 9-13 save with no one paired up yet -- that's very important for the method above to cut down on play time, so make sure you make a copy of it in a spare slot and don't save over it.
You may want to work through the special couples in backwards order to make sure not to mess up the prior "no one paired" save points, by doing Kai/Shou, Nagi/Kai, Shou/Kai, and then Naoto/Shou (so you are starting with Ch. 6 and then moving backwards through the chapter starting points, so you don't save over ones you are going to need later). Or after starting from one of your saves and hooking up a special couple, then just save all progress after that in one of the extra save slots (I recommend using save slot #19 in my setup as a backup of your 9-13 "no one
paired" save, and slot #20 for special coupling use).
If you are setting up two more pairings in one of your Special Coupling games, then you will need to make Ch. 9-13 and Ch. 9-15 saves over your old ones. So once again, make sure you have another copy of your Ch. 9-13 save point when no one was paired up yet! Otherwise you will be stuck at the end of the game unable to get any other pairings with Shou or Kai and have to start back and play again. That will save you from having a ton of hassle replaying.
Kai/Shou --------
*Note: Make sure in all your saves prior to Ch. 6-11 you have not paired anyone up!
1. For Kai/Shou, you will need to start at your save for Ch. 6-11, which is right before the dorm options in Ch. 6. (In my Save Slot setup listed above, this save was in my slot #10). Remember, make SURE you have not had any love events using those two characters with other people! Also, make SURE you didn't already get the Love Event between Shou and Kai in Ch. 4! If you did so, you will only be able to get Shou/Kai's ending, not Kai/Shou.
2. Have Kai visit Shou and get the Love Event. Note that you will NOT get a CG for this Love Event. If you get the two options and you select the first one like in a typical Love Event, and they go outside and talk, then you have received the Love
Event.
3. Continue through the game to Ch. 9. Within Ch. 9, get your second Love Event by having Kai visit Shou. You will also get a Special Event with them in the Desert stage if they have already had their second Love Event, so you want to do it before then. You may also go ahead and set up two other couples as outlined above.
4. After you have defeated all the Spirits and are at the final ADV, which should be save 9-15, have Kai visit Shou to receive their third Love Event. Note that the switched seme-uke trick won't work for this couple (at least by my testing). If you have already won Shou/Kai, you can end right after this Love Event! Their ending CGs are the same, so no need to go all the way through Wingfield Castle again. If not, then go ahead and complete the game to get their ending. Feel free to also reload to your 9-15 save and get the third Love Event for one of the other couples you set up and repeat.
Nagi/Kai --------
*Note: Make sure in all your saves prior to Ch. 5-12 you have not paired anyone up!
1. For Nagi/Kai, reload at save 5-12, which is right before the dorm options in Ch. 5 (Slot #8 in my save diagram above). Remember, make SURE you have not had any love events with Kai, and you have NOT set up Naoto/Shou by visiting
him both times in the Kendo Hall in Ch. 3 and Ch. 4.
2. Visit the peeping location at the dorms, and then visit Nagi to trigger his Love Event (remember, if you have trouble you may need to visit him multiple times, or visit someone else and then go back and visit him again). You are given two options during this event: Pick Option 2. There will be no CG with this Love Event.
3. In Ch. 6 at the dorm options, select to play as Kai, and visit Nagi again to trigger a Love Event (and again, you'll probably need to visit the peeping location and visit him a few times to trigger it). One again you will be given two options: Choose Option 2.
4. Continue the game, but don't get ANY Love Events using Kai. You may however set up two other couples, getting their first and second Love Events.
5. Save before the third Love Event, which should be your 9-15 save. Do not get ANY third Love Events for any couples!
6. Play through the final chapter. You will then get Nagi/Kai's ending. After winning it, feel free to reload to your 9-15 save and get the third Love Event for one of the other couples you set up and repeat.
Shou/Kai --------
*Note: Make sure in all your saves prior to Ch. 4-4 you have not paired anyone up!
1. For Shou/Kai, you will need to start at your save for Ch. 4-4, which is right before the dorm options in Ch. 4. (In my save slot setup listed above, this save was in my slot #6). Remember, make SURE you have not had any love events using those two characters with other people!
2. Have Shou visit Kai and get the Love Event. Note that you will NOT get a CG for this Love Event. If you get the two options and you select the first one like in a typical Love Event, and they go outside and talk, then you have received the Love Event.
3. Continue through the game to Ch. 9. Within Ch. 9, get your second Love Event by having Shou visit Kai. You will also get a Special Event with them in the Desert stage if they have already had their second Love Event, so you want to do it before then. You may also go ahead and set up two other couples as outlined above.
4. After you have defeated all the Spirits and are at the final ADV, which should be save 9-15, have Shou visit Kai to receive their third Love Event. Note that the switched seme-uke trick won't work for this couple (or at least not for me -- since Shou had the Love Event in Ch. 4, he was the only one I could trigger Love Events with in Ch. 9) If you have already won Kai/Shou, you can end right after this Love Event! Their ending CGs are the same, so no need to go all the way
through Wingfield Castle again. If not, then go ahead and complete the game to get their ending. Feel free to also reload to your 9-15 save and get the third Love Event for one of the other couples you set up and repeat.
Naoto/Shou ----------
*Note: Make sure in all your saves prior to Ch. 2-9 you have not paired anyone up!
1. Naoto/Shou takes the longest amount of replaying. At save 2-9, which is right before the dorm options in Ch. 2 (Slot #2 in my save diagram above), make sure you visit Naoto in the bathrooms (and also remember, you don't want to pair Shou with anyone else, so don't get his event with Anri). If you know that you visited Naoto, then skip ahead to save 3-3 instead (Slot #3 on my save diagram), which is right before the school options in Ch. 3. You will need to select to play as Shou, and visit the Kendo room to see Naoto.
2. In Ch. 4 at the school options, you will need to select to play as Shou again, and visit Naoto at the Kendo room. Make sure during the dorm options that night you do not get any Love Events using Shou.
3. Continue the game, but don't get ANY Love Events using Shou. Also, do not set up Nagi with Kai (you shouldn't be able to do this anyway if you have done all the steps above). You may however set up two other couples, getting their first
and second Love Events.
4. Save before the third Love Event, which should be your 9-15 save. Do not get ANY third Love Events for any couples!
5. Play through the final chapter. After the credits, Shou will meet Naoto and you will have two options: Pick Option 2. You will then get Naoto/Shou's ending. After winning it, feel free to reload to your 9-15 save and get the third Love Event for one of the other couples you set up and repeat.
My Game Setup:
So how many times did I end up playing the game? Five times. Once starting at Ch. 1, once starting at Ch. 3-3, once starting at Ch. 4-4, once starting at Ch. 5-12, and once starting at Ch. 6-11. To get all the endings, Ch. 9-13 (the Sea stage) had to be played 7 times and Ch. 10 had to be played 18 times. For those curious, this is the order in which I captured the game:
Game #1:
-Started at Ch. 1 (since it was my first play) and saved at each option screen throughout the game. Please refer above to how I set up my save slots. -Went through "Method for Standard Couple Love Endings" as outlined above. Made
sure to back up my save folder, and also put the Ch. 9-13 save file in an additional slot (#19) where I would not erase it, so I could work on special pairings and go back to it later. -Got 10 pairings in three sets of couplings off this game:
-Loaded off my "no one paired" 9-13 save (from slot #17 if it hasn't been saved over, from slot #19 if the one in #17 has been saved over). Stayed in town and got Love Events Stage 1 and 2 for Shou/Anri, Chris/Sena, and Shion/Kai. Went to the Forest stage and got the Special Event for Shou/Anri. Then played through the Sea stage, then saved at Ch. 9-15 in slot #18. -Got Love Event Stage 3 for Shou/Anri. Played through Ch. 10 and got their ending. -Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save point. Got Love Event Stage 3 for Chris/Sena. Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save point and this time got Sena/Chris. Played through Ch. 10 and got their ending. -Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save point. Got Love Event Stage 3 for Shion/Kai. Played through Ch. 10 and got their ending.
-Loaded off my Ch. 9-13 save. Stayed in town and got Love Events Stage 1 and 2 for Shou/Sena, then went to the Volcano stage and got their Special Event. Reloaded from Ch. 9-13 save, then got Love Events Stage 1 and 2 for Sena/Shou, Chris/Shion, and Kai/Anri. Went to the Mine stage and got the Shion and Chris Special Event. Then played through the Sea stage (getting the Sena/Shou Special Event on the way), then saved at Ch. 9-15. -Got Love Event Stage 3 for Shou/Sena. Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save and this
time got Love Event Stage 3 for Sena/Shou. Played through Ch. 10 and got their ending. -Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save point. Got Love Event Stage 3 for Chris/Shion. Since I had Shion/Chris Ending #2 scheduled for one of my "Special Coupling" games, did not play Ch. 10 since the ending CG is the same. -Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save point. Got Love Event Stage 3 for Kai/Anri. Played through Ch. 10 and got their ending.
-Loaded off my Ch. 9-13 save. Stayed in town and got Love Events Stage 1 and 2 for Chris/Kai and Shion/Shou. Then played through the Sea stage and saved at Ch. 9-15. -Got Love Event Stage 3 for Chris/Kai. Played through Ch. 10 and got their ending. -Reloaded to Ch. 9-15 save and got the Love Event Stage 3 for Shion/Shou. Played through Ch. 10 and got their ending.
Game #2:
-Followed the "Method for Special Couple Love Endings - Shou/Kai" as outlined above, and did not pair anyone else. Did all saving in slot #20 so I would not erase my "no one paired" save points. -Got Love Event Stage 2 for Shou/Kai and Stage 1 and 2 for Chris/Anri and Shion/Sena in Ch. 9. You can do these at any time during the chapter, but I suggest doing Shou/Kai Love Event Stage 2 before the Desert stage since they have a Special Event there. -Played all the way through Ch. 9, finishing the Sea stage, and then saved my game
at Ch. 9-15 in slot #18 (make sure before doing this you have won all the previous pairings you had set up in your Ch. 9-15 save file first). -Got Love Event Stage 3 for Shou/Kai. Played through Ch. 10 and got their ending. -Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save, and got Love Event Stage 3 for Chris/Anri. Played through Ch. 10 and got their ending. -Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save, and got Love Event Stage 3 for Shion/Sena. Played through Ch. 10 and got their ending.
Game #3:
-Followed the "Method for Special Couple Love Endings - Kai/Shou" as outlined above, and did not pair anyone else up. Did all saving in slot #20 so I would not erase my "no one paired" save points (make sure you have finished your previous game if you have a different Special Coupling game saved in slot #20). -Got Love Event Stage 2 for Shou/Kai and Stage 1 and 2 for Shion/Chris and Sena/Anri in Ch. 9. I did these Love Events at the beginning of Ch. 9, and then got the Shion/Chris Special Event in town, and their second Special Event in the Mines. Got the Kai/Shou Special Event in the Desert. -Played all the way through Ch. 9, finishing the Sea stage, and then saved my game at Ch. 9-15 in slot #18 (make sure before doing this you have won all the previous pairings you had set up in your Ch. 9-15 save file first). -Got Love Event Stage 3 for Kai/Shou. Since I had already won Shou/Kai and their ending CGs are the same, I did not have to play Ch. 10. -Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save, and got Love Event Stage 3 for Shion/Chris. Played through Ch. 10 and got their Ending #2.
-Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save, and got Love Event Stage 3 for Sena/Anri. Played through Ch. 10 and got their ending.
Game #4:
-Followed the "Method for Special Couple Love Endings - Nagi/Kai" as outlined above. Did not pair anyone else up. Did all saving in slot #20 so I would not erase my "no one paired" save points (make sure you have finished your previous game if you have a different Special Coupling game saved in slot #20). -Got Love Events Stage 1 and 2 for Chris/Shou and Shion/Anri in Ch. 9. You can do these at any time during the chapter. -Played all the way through Ch. 9, finishing the Sea stage, and then saved my game at Ch. 9-15 in slot #18 (make sure before doing this you have won all the previous pairings you had set up in your Ch. 9-15 save file first). -Did NOT get any Love Event Stage 3 for any couples. Played Ch. 10 and got Nagi/Kai ending. -Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save, and got Love Event Stage 3 for Chris/Shou. Played through Ch. 10 and got their Ending #2. -Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save, and got Love Event Stage 3 for Shion/Anri. Played through Ch. 10 and got their ending.
Game #5:
-Followed the "Method for Special Couple Love Endings - Naoto/Shou" as outlined above. Did not pair anyone else up. Did all saving in slot #20 so I would not
erase my "no one paired" save points (make sure you have finished your previous game if you have a different Special Coupling game saved in slot #20). -Got Love Events Stage 1 and 2 for Shion/Chris after the Mine stage (since I did not want to get any of Shion/Chris's Special Events in this game). Then did Sena/Kai Love Events Stage 1 and 2 (make sure Sena is the one that visits Kai on Love Event Stage 2). Got the Sena/Kai Special Event in the next stage at the Lake. -Played all the way through Ch. 9, finishing the Sea stage, and then saved my game at Ch. 9-15 in slot #18 (make sure before doing this you have won all the previous pairings you had set up in your Ch. 9-15 save file first). -Did NOT get any Love Event Stage 3 for any couples. Played Ch. 10 and got Naoto/Shou ending. -Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save, and got Love Event Stage 3 for Shion/Chris. Played through Ch. 10 and got their Ending #1. -Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save, and got Love Event Stage 3 for Sena/Kai. Reloaded to the Ch. 9-15 save and this time got Love Event Stage 3 for Kai/Sena. Played through Ch. 10 and got their ending.
And that is my step-by-step play when /I/ was winning the endings. You of course can win your couples in any order you like! I only suggest that you at least set up your "no one paired" saves first, up to your Ch. 9-13 save file (which I'd make sure you have an extra copy of). Then you can go back and do special couplings if you like and go back to that Ch. 9-13 save for standard couplings later, if you prefer to do that. I also suggest at least trying to plan a little bit to where you won't be repeating a pairing in a game just because no one else is available: this would mean more replaying. I went through and figured out ahead of time which couples I could
do per game so that no couple would have to be repeated.
SPECIAL EVENTS --------------
The following pairings have Special Events that occur during Ch. 9. These events occur after Love Event Stage 2 has been completed for the pairing. My suggestion for getting the Special Events is to follow the method outlined above, where you create a save at Ch. 9-13 where none of the couples are paired up. Then you can get your first and second Love Events for three pairings, and instead of going directly to the Sea stage afterwards, you can go back to one of the earlier locations to get your Special Events if one or more of your pairings have one. You will want to do the Special Events because in most cases they unlock new CGs.
These are the pairings that have Special Events, and when and where the events occur:
Shou/Kai and Kai/Shou
For both Shou/Kai or Kai/Shou, there will be a Special Event in the Desert stage. Since these are a special coupling that will be separate from your "no pairings" save and therefore have to be set up prior to Ch. 9 anyway, I suggest going ahead and getting their Love Event Stage 2 before going to the Desert stage.
Shou/Anri
Shou/Anri have a Special Event in the Forest after their Love Event Stage 2 has been completed. Complete their Love Event Stage 1 and 2 at Ch. 9-13, and then go back to the Forest before going to the Sea stage. The event should trigger when leaving the third screen in the Forest. After getting the event, you can leave the Forest.
Sena/Kai
This Special Event /only/ works if Sena visited Kai for Love Event Stage 2 (since this is a mixed seme-uke coupling, either character can trigger the second Love Event). Since there isn't a Special Event if Kai visited Sena for Love Event Stage 2, I suggest making sure you use Sena for Love Event Stage 2. This event occurs in the Lake after you enter the Ice Temple. There is a chest on a pedistal, and you go to it and select Option 2. After getting the event, you can leave the Lake.
Shou/Sena
This Special Event /only/ works if Shou visited Sena for Love Event Stage 2 (since this is a mixed seme-uke coupling, either character can trigger the second Love Event). There is a different Special Event if Sena visits Shou for Love Event Stage 2, so it will take some Save/Load action to see them both. This Special Event
occurs in the Volcano when you leave the second screen; you will need to pick Option 2 and then exit the third screen of the Volcano to finish the event. After receiving the event, you can leave the Volcano. Read below for my suggestion on getting both Shou/Sena and Sena/Shou Special Events in the same game.
Sena/Shou
Like stated above, this Special Event /only/ works if Sena visited Shou for Love Event Stage 2. It occurs after exiting the first screen in the Sea stage, and then you need to select Option 2. This Special Event does not have a CG, but has some good background info on Sena so I still suggest viewing it.
My suggestion: If you are feeling particularly lazy, then have Shou visit Sena for Love Event Stage 2 at Ch. 9-13, and get their Special Event in the Volcano, since it is the one with the CG. However, if you want to see both (and I recommend doing so), I did the following: After loading off the Ch. 9-13 save point, stay in town and have Shou visit Sena for Love Events 1 and 2. Then go back to the Volcano stage and get their Special Event. Then reload to your Ch. 9-13 save, and have Sena visit Shou for Love Events 1 and 2, and go ahead and do Love Events 1 and 2 for the two other couples you are setting up in that game. Then continue to the Sea stage like you normally would, and you'll just pick up the Sena/Shou Special Event along the way.
Shion/Chris and Chris/Shion
Shion and Chris's endings rely on the viewing of their Special Events, and they are very picky about doing so! If you are having trouble getting Shion and Chris's different CGs and endings, how you viewed their Special Events in your game is the determining factor.
There are two Special Events for Shion and Chris. The first occurs if you have Shion visit Chris at the inn in town after they have already had Love Event Stage 2. This is a fairly lengthy event that unlocks several CGs. The second Special Event occurs in the Mine stage in the third screen (I've heard it also can occur later in the Mines, but it has always occured for me when passing through the third screen).
To get Shion/Chris Ending #1, do NOT get either of their Special Events.
To get Shion/Chris Ending #2, get BOTH of their Special Events.
To get Chris/Shion, get ONLY the Special Event in the Mines. This will give you Chris/Shion during Love Event Stage 3, if you have Chris visit Shion. However, the ending CG is the same as Shion/Chris Ending #2. So if you have already received Shion/Chris Ending #2, then you do not need to play Ch. 10 after getting the Chris/Shion Love Event Stage 3.
RPG MODE COMMANDS -----------------
Between parts of the story, you will go into an RPG Mode where you navigate around locations and have battles, in a typical RPG setup. The commands on the RPG Command List are as follows:
1) Attack - The character physically attacks the opponent.
2) Magic - The character casts magic against the opponent. Only Kai, Anri, and Sena use Magic.
2a) Attack/Status Attack Magic - Magic that either physically attacks the opponent or creates status ailments for the opponent (such as sleep or confusion).
2b) Support/Healing Magic - Magic that either heals your party or strengthens your party (such as raising strength,intelligence, ect.)
3) Special Attack - To use a Special Attack, it will take the number of feathers listed next to the attack from the character to use it. Their available feathers are shown under their health bar (they can have a total of five). The last option on the list is to enter a character's "Awaken" mode. This strengthens their attacks and also makes other Special Attacks available, such as summoning a Spirit. Being in Awaken Mode will drain a feather each turn and when the character runs out, they will revert to normal. You can exit Awaken Mode before then by selecting the last option in the Special Attack list (which will have a 0 as the amount of feathers needed). Use your Special Attacks wisely!
4) Item - Use an item. You will have to experiment to figure out what the items are and what they do. The only items I ever figured out where the ones that healed hit points and the one that revives the dead (the easy way to find this one is it will be near the end of the list and when selecting it only the dead party member comes up for its use). I never did figure out what all the items did, specifically ones for status ailments (and trust me, I sure wish I did know!)
5) Defend Self - Defend yourself for the turn.
6) Defend Team Member - Defend another party member for the turn.
7) Status Screen - Shows the status screen for your party. When you are in RPG Mode, there is a box in the upper right corner of the screen, which accesses the Status Screen. From here you can equip a gem (which gives you stat bonuses as well as allows for Spirit summoning later), see your experience levels, and cast healing magic or use items. During battle, you can use it to change your equipped gem.
8) Run - Attempt to flee from the battle.
Tips for battle:
These are basically the things that I /wished/ I had known about from the beginning, but was informed of later that suddenly made playing all those RPG battles over and over much easier. Part of finishing the game as fast as possible is getting through
the stages and fighting the bosses as fast as possible as well, so take advantage of them!
-Equip a gem from your Status screen when you enter RPG Mode. Once equipping a gem, it should stay equipped unless you decide to remove it or change it to a different one. The option to equip a gem is the button that is directly below the character's name and stats in their box on the Status screen. When you click it, you can then select one. Equipping a gem gives stat bonuses, which is why you should always have one equipped.
Though you don't have to, I always equip my gems as the following: Shou = Red gem, Kai = Purple gem, Chris = Yellow gem, Anri = Brown gem, Shion = Green gem, and Sena = Blue gem. This is because in Chapter 9, you will play stages to gain the power of the spirits for the element behind each gem. Those characters are aligned to those elements, and if they have those gems equipped, then if you have already aquired the spirit for that element, that character can summon them (for example, if Shou has the red gem equipped, and you have passed the Volcano stage, then he can enter Awaken Mode from the Special Attacks list and summon the Fire Spirit for three feathers).
-Don't waste your magic. Each spell takes a certain amount of gems to cast, which is listed next to the spell. Your available gems are shown below all your character life meters. When you cast a spell, it will subtract the appropriate gems. If you are running low on the type of gems needed for a spell, then you should try casting other spells from gems you have a larger supply of until you can get more. Gems are
aquired after defeating monsters, and in Ch. 9, there is a certain type of gem associated with each stage: Red gems in the Volcano, green gems in the Forest, yellow gems in the Mine, blue gems in the Lake, brown gems in the Desert, and purple gems in the Sea. You can go back to any stage you have already passed and defeat monsters to raise your levels and collect more gems. If you know certain spells you like to use need certain gems, then make sure to keep a ready supply.
-Use your Special Attacks, and use them wisely. A character can use a Special Attack from the third option on the battle menu, at the price of a certain amount of their feathers (they have a total of five). Feathers will regenerate after a certain period of time if that character is active in the battle. If you know there will be another (and harder) battle after the one you are in, you may want to limit using only 1 or 2 feather attacks and then let them regenerate and repeat, to make sure you still have some when you enter the next battle. I personally suggest saving your feathers for bosses and not using them in random encounters.
-Use Spirit Summon on bosses. As stated above, make sure to hang onto your feathers so you have a full load available when you enter a fight with a difficult boss. If you have a) the proper gem equipped to a character (as listed above) and b) have won the power of that elemental spirit, then you can put that character into Awaken Mode, and then on your next turn, you can summon that Spirit (it is the command on the Special Attacks menu that costs 3 feathers to perform). This does a large deal of damage on the boss. Turn off Awaken Mode on your next turn to keep their last feather and then start building them back up.
-Take advantage of the attack order. In each battle, there is a number listed above each character and opponent's head. This is the "official" attack order, even though you may make your characters attack in any order you wish. But if you pick a character that is 8 in the attack order to go first, then all the monsters that have an attack listing prior to 8 will get to go first instead. This is very helpful in random encounters.
-When it is available, have Anri cast Attack Up for your party first thing on your first turn. This just helps give everyone else a little boost for the fight (and if you don't need healing, then go ahead and give yourself some of the other status bonuses from his list).
-Heal often. I usually have Anri do a party heal either at the very beginning of the turn or the very end of the turn (based on when the enemy is likely to hit with his attack). But make sure you have lots of brown gems and don't waste them: nothing worse than running out and not being able to cast healing spells! If you really don't /have/ to heal, then don't, but in general, make sure to do so every few turns, and do so every turn if you are expecting bad attacks (especially ones that hit the whole party). Another way to wisely use your gems is to have Sena heal if specific characters are getting the brunt of the attacks, since his healing takes blue gems instead (which I seem to usually have in good supply). No sense in wasting brown ones healing the whole party if only one character is in bad health. And if you get really desperate, figure out which items heal (I believe the ones that end in "N", "S", ect. are healing items).
-If a character is afflicted with a status ailment, have Sena cure the ailment first thing. Yes, it takes a little experimentation to figure out while spells of his cure which ailments, but once you have it down it is invaluable. However, if Sena gets affected... then good luck. Unless you can figure out which items take away which status ailments (which I never did), if he gets confused then be prepared for a pretty arduous fight (with plenty of your characters wasting those precious feathers hitting each other).
This save point is one of two points where couples can be paired up prior to Ch. 9. But for the "Method for Standard Couple Love Endings", you do NOT want to pair anyone up prior to Ch. 9. However, there are different CGs based on if you get Love Event Stage 1 before Ch. 9 or during Ch. 9. You will want to get the Love Events here to unlock these CGs, but NOT save getting the Love Events, and continue your game with no one paired up. Chapter 9 ---------
Ch. 9 is a lengthy chapter, with the most RPG Mode areas, and where your character coupling will take place. It is set up where you visit a different stage for each elemental spirit, and in-between these stages, you can stay in town and select characters to visit other characters to do your Love Events.
Following the "Method for Standard Coupling Love Endings", you should NOT have anyone paired up when you come into Ch. 9. Also, you do NOT want to pair anyone up until the end of Ch. 9, at save point 9-13. Please refer to step #2 in the "Method for Standard Coupling Love Endings" at the beginning of the guide.
For Special Couplings, please refer to the "Method for Special Coupling Love Endings" for directions on how to handle these in Ch. 9.
For those curious, at the beginning of the guide I have shown my setup for each game and when I got events within Ch. 9. You don't have to do things in the same order as I did, but referring to it may be helpful.
[RPG Mode: Road to Town]
*SAVE IN SLOT #12: It will be listed as Ch. 9-3*
After coming out of RPG Mode, you will enter an ADV Mode at the town. This is where you can have characters visit each other to get Love Events. However, you do NOT want to get any Love Events at this point! That will come later in the chapter. However, do make sure to do all the visits that give event CGs; it is only Love Events you want
to avoid.
This option list is the same every time you come out of RPG Mode between stages into ADV Mode.
Option 1: Shou -OROption 2: Kai -OROption 3: Chris -OROption 4: Anri -OROption 5: Sena -OROption 6: Shion
Inn:
Visit 5 of the following locations. You may select a location more than once and it will only be counted as one of your locations. Selecting "Return to room" will end the turn. Make sure to view the Peeping Events before visiting other locations.
After a day in the town has passed, you are given an option list. The first option is to stay in town, and you may keep doing so and get events as much as you like, until you select to go to the next available stage. You may also go back to previous stages to get levels or collect gems if you like. But after you select to go to the new stage, you must pass it before getting back to ADV Mode and the
location list.
The next day:
Option 1: Stay in town *NOTE! There is a new Peeping Event if you select to stay in town and go to the Peeping Location again before setting out to the Volcano. Option 2: Go to the Volcano
[RPG Mode: Volcano stage]
*SAVE IN SLOT #13: It will be listed as Ch. 9-5*
*SAVE IN SLOT #17: It will be listed as Ch. 9-13. This is a very important save point, so I suggest ALSO saving another copy of it in Slot #19*
Inn:
This is where you are going to get your Love Events when using the "Method for Standard Couplings". Please refer to the "Method for Standard Couplings" from step #3. What you are going to do is get Love Events 1 and 2 for three different couples at this point (I have tips for triggering Love Events in the "Love Events" section at the beginning of this guide). Just keep selecting to stay in town until you have done so. When your three couples are set up and you have gotten both their Love Events, and then any Special Events they may have in prior stages (I have a list of the pairings and their Special Events in the "Special Events" section of this guide), then select to go to the Sea.
The next day:
Option 1: Stay in town Option 2: Go to the Volcano
Option 3: Go to the Forest Option 4: Go to the Mine Option 5: Go to the Lake Option 6: Go to the Desert Option 7: Go to the Sea
[RPG Mode: Sea stage]
*SAVE IN SLOT #18: It will be listed as Ch. 9-15. This is a very important save point!*
Inn:
This is the last ADV Mode before entering Ch. 10, the final stage of the game. Here you are going to get Love Event Stage 3 for one of your couples: after you get the event, then you will automatically enter Ch. 10. If you want to do any leveling up in previous stages, do so BEFORE getting your third Love Event.
Get your third Love Event for one of your couples. Please refer to step #4 of "Method for Standard Couple Love Endings" and the "Method for Switched Seme-Uke Couple Love Endings" for getting both of their third Love Events. (Since they have the same ending CGs, you then only have to play Ch. 10 through for one of them.)
The next day (only comes up if you didn't get a third Love Event):
Option 1: Stay in town Option 2: Go to the Volcano Option 3: Go to the Forest Option 4: Go to the Mine Option 5: Go to the Lake Option 6: Go to the Desert Option 7: Go to the Sea Option 8: Go to Wingfield Castle
Chapter 10 ----------
[RPG Mode: Wingfield Castle]
After you have finished the final boss of this chapter, you will see the epilogue of the game. After the ending credits, you will see the ending for the pairing you got Love Event Stage 3 for in Ch. 9-15.
Refer to steps #5-7 of the "Method for Standard Couple Love Endings" at the beginning of the guide. At this point you are going to reload to your Ch. 9-15 save, and get the third Love Event for one of your other pairings, and then play Ch. 10 again. Then you will repeat a third time for your last pairing. (So you will play Ch. 10 three times)
Then you will reload back to your Ch. 9-13 save and set up three new couples by
getting their first and second Love Events, and repeat the process. This way you can get a majority of the couples with only having to replay the Sea stage and Wingfield Castle.
There are differences in play for the special pairings, so make sure to check the "Method for Special Couple Love Endings" section for how to win those.
I also have a list of how I set up my games and won the endings in the first section of my guide. You certainly don't have to do things the way I did, but you may want to refer to it if you are confused or something doesn't work out for you.
