PERTINENT INFORMATION REGARDING MADONNA CENTER

We will be in the presence of the awesome Redwoods. There is a great article on them in the October 2009 issue of the National Geographic.

The Mount Madonna Center has several suggestions for all participants. They are the following:
The food service is strictly vegetarian no meat, fish, fowl, or eggs If you have special dietary needs, please contact them directly. Please do not bring any food or scented body products. We are in the forest setting - unexpected guests (wild animals) are not invited to our conference! Due to extreme fire precautions, DO NOT bring or use incense, candles, kerosene lamps, etc. Checks, money orders, Visa, Master Card and Cash are all accepted. Cell phone service is sporadic. Verizon and AT&T are the most dependable. There is internet service available in the computer room, wireless in the Conference Room where our sessions will be held. The Kaya Kalpa Wellness Center offers various bodywork sessions. If interested please call (408) 8473276 for additional info and scheduling.

It is suggested that you bring the following:


Personal towels (they are not provided) SLIPPERS (shoes are not worn indoors) Alarm Clock Flashlight Warm clothing for cool nights and mornings Comfortable clothes and shoes for a rural setting Swimsuit for lake swimming or hot tubbing Raingear (Rainy season is from October to May) Bedding for those camping

TRANSPORTATION Most of us will need to travel to and from the airports of San Jose, San Francisco. To defray costs, Jennifer Song, has volunteered to coordinate a group effort. Please inform her of your pertinent flight arrival information ( airline, flight #, date, time, etc.). You may contact her at PH: 909 634-0444 (Canada) craniosacral@cogeco.ca. Here are some options: (random selections of companies) A. MOUNT MADONNA SHUTTLE SERVICE: Begins at $100 one way for one person with a graduating scale downward with each additional person. Simply check their website and/or call their office and they will coordinate with you, (408 846-4064). From the San Jose airport: B. SHUTTLE SERVICE: Airport Terminal Service (I always get a message machine and no return call.) C. RENTAL CARS: per week around $220-$650 (Hertz) D. TAXI: A flat rate of $150-$160 one way for as many as 4 passengers with luggage (408-459-5555). E. LIMOSINE SERVICE: Flat rate one way- different modes of transportation. For example, a town car is $109; a van is $149 includes taxes and tips. ( LIMOAFFAIR - PH:408-907-3000)

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Use only maps on their website or directions below. Do not use GPS, Map quest or Yahoo maps. The Center is near Watsonville, 3.5 miles off Highway 152. From: THE COAST - Highway 1. Take Hwy 1 to Watsonville, take the Airport Blvd exit, and follow for about 3.5 mi. Turn LEFT onto Hwy 152 E. At the top of the mountain, turn LEFT into Mt Madonna County Park = Pole Line Rd (just after the Mount Madonna Inn). Follow the yellow line through the park. At the 4-way STOP, continue straight = Summit Rd. The Center is 1.5 mi further on the left 445 Summit Rd.

From: INLAND - Highway 101. Take Highway 101 north from Salinas. At Gilroy, follow Highway 152 west (it zigs and zags through Gilroy). Continue up the mountain approximately 10 miles. At the top of the mountain, just past the 15 mph curve, turn right into Mount Madonna County Park (Pole Line Road). Follow the yellow line through the park (2.2 miles). Do not pay the park entrance fee. When you come to the stop sign at the end of the park, continue straight ahead on Summit Road for 1.5 miles. (Pole Line Road becomes Summit Road). The Center is on the left at 445 Summit Road.
