Calculus and Analytical Geometry by Thomas/Finney, 11th Edition

References Advanced Engineering Mathematics, by Erwin Kreyszig, 8th Edition Calculus and Analytical Geometry, Schaums Series, Course Objectives The main aim of this course is to give students some basic ideas of calculus, which is the mathematics of motion. The purpose is not just making the students learn these ideas but to enable them apply these ideas to solve problems of practical nature. The course will provide the students with
the necessary tools to understand and formulate advanced mathematical concepts and an awareness of their relationship to a variety of problems arising in engineering and sciences. Students wishing to major in the sciences, engineering, or medicine are required to have a working knowledge of the calculus and its applications. After the successful completion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate the ability to state and explain basic Calculus definitions and theorems, use the Calculus concepts, and explain and interpret results in well-written sentences, explain algebraic and transcendental functions in various forms, demonstrate the meaning and use function notation in tabular, graphic, algebraic, and applied settings, explain the meaning of domain and range of functions, analyze and interpret quantitative data verbally, graphically, symbolically and numerically, differentiate between the limiting value and exact value of a function at some point explain geometrically and physically the average rate of change of a function over some interval interpret the derivative of a function as the limit of a difference quotient that gives the slope of the tangent line to the graph of the function at a point, and as instantaneous rate of change, explain geometrically and physically the instantaneous rate of change of a function at some point, apply Sum, Difference, Constant Multiple, Product, Quotient and Chain Rules to find derivatives of algebraic and transcendental functions solve motion problems using the language of calculus find related rates of related quantities use derivative for finding critical points and behavior of the functions defined in some interval,
