Unit Planner: The Case of Pablos Nose

Summary of Lesson Plan


Students will create a bubble map about what they know about detectives, each group will share their bubble map and we will create a bubble map as a whole group. Students will read Vocabulary In Context worksheet independently (pg. 153). Last, they will write their own definitions of the vocabulary words written on the board (pg. 422L)

MONDAY

Reasoning Target: Students must determine the meaning of a word or phrase from context clues when reading and listening.

Pre divide groups Grab blank paper Vocabulary in Context Copies (30)

As a whole group we will review the vocabulary terms learned yesterday, using vocabulary definitions created. In groups students will read the story Performance Target: Students must tell The Case of Pablos Nose (pgs. 422or explain about what they read 437). After reading the story they will individually create a 2-3-paragraph summary of the story. Knowledge Targets: Students must know an event can be described based on the characters, action, impact on other events, and location within the chronological sequence of a story or drama. Reasoning Targets: Students must describe an event, drawing on specific details in the text regarding the action and sequence of the story.

TUESDAY

Students will answer the Question of the Day: How does bragging affect both Pablo and Desmoana? After students will create a story map for the story The Case of Pablos Nose.
