Our construction partners, James MacQueen Building Contractors Ltd, are also recruiting a Quantity Surveyor under the Graduate Placement scheme see below for details: Quantity Surveyor Graduate (12 Month Placement) James MacQueen Building Contractors Ltd are NHBC Registered Builders situated in Crossal on the Isle of Skye. The Company specialises in building residential properties ranging from Affordable Housing for Local Housing Associations to Bespoke individual houses within Skye, Lochalsh and Inverness-shire. Contract values range from 20,000 1million. The following job vacancy has arisen to support further development of the Company: Quantity Surveyor Graduate. The job objectives are to develop flexible management development information systems to enable James MacQueen Building Contractors Ltd to expand its customer base through the provision of timely and appropriate reports, quotes and project tenders. The Quantity Surveyor will streamline the project management and delivery process, from initial pricing and procurement to project completion/handover. In particular the Quantity Surveyor will enable the Company to position itself well within the industry in the West Highlands by developing a Building Information Modelling (BIM) capacity within the Company. Candidates should be educated to HND or degree level in Quantity Surveying in past 4 years (currently unemployed/underemployed), to meet the requirements of The Highland Council Graduate Scheme terms and conditions. Experience within the Construction Industry in the capacity of Quantity Surveying is essential. Candidates must have customer facing experience and be confident liaising with clients/attending site meetings. Excellent IT skills are required and applicants must be fully conversant in the use of Microsoft Office with experience in CAD and Microsoft Project advantageous. Applicants must be enthusiastic and self-motivated, capable of working on their own initiative and be a strong team worker. The position is office based at James MacQueen Building Contractors premises, at Crossal, Isle of Skye IV47 8SP with travel required for attendance at site meetings. Hours of work are 8am 5pm, Monday to Friday. Annual holiday leave entitlement is 28 days inclusive of public holidays. The position is subject to a 6mth probationary period. Remuneration is subject to experience; starting at 15,000 and is partially funded by Highland Council. This graduate placement will be reviewed at the end of the 12 months and may lead to a permanent position within the Company, salary would also be reviewed at this time. The Company will help assist the successful candidate with finding accommodation locally if required.
