Different people have different movie preferences. Movies are categorized to different type of genre. Genre can be defined as categorization of artistic, musical or literary composition characterized by a particular style, form or content. Genre is an important component for a movie. This is because it will allows you to prepare yourself for that film as you will roughly know the storyline of the movie based on the genre. Personally, en!oy watching the sci"fi movies the most because it is somehow adventurous and contains some action part as well. Therefore, would like to attempt the sci"fi movies genre for this assignment. #ci"fi which is also known as the science"fiction film is a literary genre in which fantasy, typically based on speculative scientific discoveries or developments, environmental changes, space travel, or life on other planets, forms part of the plot or background. Damon $night says that %science fiction is what we point to when we say it&' and (orman #pinraid argues that %science fiction is anything published as science fiction& )*lute and (icholls +,,-' -+./. #ci"fi movies are stories about how individuals and citizens are affected by imaginary scientific developments in the future. 0fter a period of time, have finally decided to choose two different sci"fi movies to contrast which are 1eal #teel versus 1ise of the Planet of the 0pes. 2oth movies are different in terms of their plot, setting of the movies and also values learnt. 3irst of all, the difference between the two movies is their plot. The plot of 1eal #teel is about the future of bo4ing. n the near future, people will become uninterested in bo4ing and similar sports. 0 new sport will be created to replace the current ones which

is known as the robot bo4ing where robots battle each other while being controlled by someone. The storyline of this movie is more to scientific developments in the future. 5n the other hand, the plot of 1ise of the Planet of the 0pes is about a chimpanzee who gains human"like intelligence and emotions from an e4perimental drug. The chimpanzee, *aesar was raised like a child by the drug&s creator, 6ill 1odman and a primatologist, *aroline 0ranha. *aesar then found himself taken from the humans he loves and imprisoned in an ape sanctuary in #an 2runo, he assembles a simian army and escapes the sanctuary causing man and ape on a collision course that could change the planet forever. 2oth movies have completely different plot. #econdly, both movies have different settings. 1eal #teel took place in a town. #et is mainly in a futuristic %Te4as&, the movie was made entirely in Michigan, around the Motor *ity, Detroit. 3or instance, &Tallet&s Gym& where *harlie works on his new robot, (oisy 2oy is located in the Detroit 3ire Department, 6est 7arned #treet, Detroit. 0nother robot, 0tom gets his first fight against Metro at %#haefer 8oo&9 2elle sle (ature 8oo, 2elle sle, Detroit. The other setting in this movie is the Parkway Motel where Ma4 not only installs (oisy 2oy&s voice recognition software into 0tom, but teaches the clunky old model to dance. 0s for the 1ise of the Planet of the 0pes, the movie took place in some forest where it was shown through the opening capture of wild apes that was filmed on the island named 5ahu, :awaii. 0lthough set in and around #an 3rancisco, the film was made almost entirely in ;ancouver, 2ritish *olumbia. The zoo scenes were shot at ;ancouver 8oo in #tanley Park. There is also a scene where the apes appear at the !unction of :ornby #treet and 6est :astings #treet, climbing up the classical frontage of the .<< block and massing on the roof with improvised spears.

7astly, we can learn different values through these two movies. Personally, feel that 1eal #teel is a very good movie as there are =uite a number of values we can learn from the movie. 5ne of the values is never forget who saved you. 3or instance, a robot saved *harlie and Ma4 from a dangerous fall. 0fter a dangerous fall, Ma4 finds a buried robot. Ma4 successfully convinced *harlie to give the robot a shot to fight. :e even named the robot as 0tom. The value learnt in 1ise of the Planet of the 0pes is that we should take care of our creation. 3or e4ample, *aesar, the chimpanzee was humanized where he walks upright most of the time and he is able to speak to humans. :e then demonstrates self"awareness, intelligence and comparison for his fellow apes. There is a clear message that the treatment is cruel because of his increased, human"like and intelligence which leads to man and ape on an impact that could change the planet forever. n conclusion, there is a big difference in 1eal #teel and 1ise of the Planet of the 0pes which are the plot, settings and values learnt. >veryone has different movie preferences. 2oth movies have their interesting storylines. Therefore, suggest that you should try to watch both movies as they are both completely different movies where we can gain different knowledge. )?@< words/
