Since its establishment in 2004, the primary impetus for launching Meseret
Higher Clinic revolves around a core vision – i.e.

“To help satisfy the tremendous demand for medical care services in the
country and do so by raising the quality premium across all of the typi-
cal (as well as not-so-typical) services offered by comparable medical care
providers”

Such a vision in turn entails the need for focused attention across a wide-
range of variables like availability of in-house specialist doctors, array of
medical equipment and resident expertise on the optimal use of these equip-
ment in addition to other salient factors related to overall enhancement of
patient/client experience such as quick turnaround times for medical tests
as well as flexible payment plans.

In addition to its core operations as a private medical care provider, Meseret

Higher Clinic carries out its responsibility as a “good corporate citizen” in
view of the numerous non-profit services it provides to under privileged in
close collaboration with many non-profit entities.

In short, it is my sincere hope that this profile document serves as a proper

introduction to Meseret Higher Clinic and the host of services that it offers
to individuals, hospitals & other medical care providers, insurance compa-
nies as well as organizations and their employees. As always, our doors are

 I. Extensive List of Services

Meseret Higher Clinic (MHC) differentiates itself through the provision of personalized medical care. Its
team of highly experienced specialist doctors and of state-of-the-art medical equipment are cornerstone to
this enhanced patient experience in all areas of medical care it provides. A wide range of diagnostic, testing
and monitoring as well as core patient or “customer” service capabilities such as quick-turnaround times for
test results are few examples of MHC’s formal standards in this regard.

1.1 Personalized Specialist Care Services

The major reason behind enhanced patient experience at Meseret Higher Clinic is primarily due to its team
of specialist doctors who provide personalized medical care across a wide range of specializations as out-
lined below.

In addition to the 24-hours/7-days-a-week (24/7) availability of a General Practitioner every day of the year,
all of the other specialist doctors are accessible by appointment as well as on-call basis in case of medical
emergencies.

1.2 Personalized In-Patient Care Services

Meseret Higher Clinic offers four (4) fully equipped patient beds for all those requiring personalized in-pa-
tient medical care. Each room offers the following facilities and amenities.

• “Hospital” clean rooms and beds

• Continuously sterilized bathroom and toiletry facilities
• Access to Satellite TV in each room
• Ample space and flexible hours for visitors in each room

1.3 Enhanced Diagnostics, Testing & Monitoring Capabilities

The primary reasons behind our extensive list of diagnostic, testing and monitoring services are mainly due
to -

• Our highly trained and experienced as well as multi-disciplinary pool of technicians and;
• Our significant investments in a wide range of state-of-the-art medical equipment – in some cases,
exclusively found at Meseret Higher Clinic.
In short, the above-listed resources serve as further assurance of our clinic’s forefront position and
its enhanced capacity for offering a wider range of diagnostic, testing & monitoring services than
most local hospitals, let alone comparable higher clinics in Addis Ababa.

1.3.1 Highly Trained & Experienced Technicians

The management and operations of state-of-the-art equipment requires a pool of highly trained and experi-
enced technicians with equally up-to-date expertise. Accordingly, Meseret Higher Clinic maintains a multi-
disciplinary team of technicians comprised of: -

• Certified Voluntary HIV Testing and Counseling Specialists
• Certified Sanitation & Quality Control Specialists

1.3.2 State-of-the-Art Medical Equipment

Meseret Higher Clinic has made significant investments into the procurement of state-of-the-art equipment,
which are categorized into two (2) groups – i.e.

• Equipment that are only found at its premise, which in turn ensure our clinic’s sole capacity for un
dertaking enhanced diagnostic, testing and monitoring services and;
• Equipment that are mandated as a standard for a “Higher Clinic” by the Ministry of Health

1.3.3 Wide Range of Diagnostic Testing & Monitoring Services

In view of its investments in state-of-the-art medical equipment, it is not surprising that Meseret Higher
Clinic is able to offer a wide range of diagnostics , testing and monitoring services. Please refer to Annex I:
Detailed List of MHC Diagnosis & Testing Services & Fees for additional information in this regard.

II. Enhanced Patient/Client Experience

Meseret Higher Clinic has also incorporated additional measures for ensuring enhanced capacity for catering
to the unique needs of both individual clients as well as organizational clients.

2.1 Service Standards

The first step towards enhanced medical care and client service capabilities is to objectively measure stan-
dard tasks that are defined around each care or service activity. Accordingly, Meseret Higher Clinic has
developed an objective matrix that quantifies the different durations required for processing standard medical
care and client service (administrative) tasks.

2.2 Flexible Payment Plans

2.2.1 Basic Payment Terms

Meseret Higher Clinic has also incorporated flexible and personalized payment plans, which are developed
around the specific needs and preferences of individuals, employers, insurance companies and “MHC Enti-
ties” as relayed in the following table.

2.2.2 Service Fees

As stated before, Annex I outlines the detailed list of fees associated with each and every diagnosis & testing
service offered at our premises. It is also worthwhile to note that registration fees are set at an affordable Birr
20.00. (Prices are subject to change)

2.3 Central Location & Comfortable Facilities

In addition to the stellar “in-patient” facilities and service levels outlined in previous sections, Meseret High-
er Clinic offers equally enhanced experience to both out-patients and visitors with features such as Satellite
TV in waiting areas. Our premises are also centrally located – i.e. just a two (2) blocks off Bole Road – and
are easily accessible from any corner of Addis Ababa .

III. Good Corporate Citizenship

Meseret Higher Clinic is fully cognizant of the tremendous need for quality medical care, not only for those
who could afford it, but also to those who are facing financial hardship. Despite its basic organization as a
profit making entity, our clinic is committed to carry out on its social responsibility as evidenced by the free-
of-charge services it extends to needy individuals as well as non-profit organizations and their beneficiaries .

Not limiting itself to community support issues that revolve around core medical care activities, Meseret
Higher Clinic has actively participated in many other types of non-profit efforts as outlined below.

• First organization in Ethiopia to give free voluntary HIV testing 2005

• Free medical coverage for Hohet Tesfa Organization 2006
• Served lunch for one thousand HIV infected people at Entoto Church for Ethiopian Easter 2007
• Free medical coverage for Kebena Youth Association 2007
• Christmas breakfast and play program for one thousand orphans and under privileged children 2008
• Free medical care for elderly and poor people in the neighborhood at present
