Badua, Andrea 8/24/13 Period 4 Mr. Flye An Ideal Government?

For centuries, humans have lived accordingly to a certain form of a government system. Even before Ancient Romans were studying democracy , hunters and gatherers have used an unspoken form of government called: Primitive Communism. Everyone contributed to the survival of the tribe. Does this mean that communism is the best choice of a government in which people are all equal? According to history, the system has proved to cause chaos instead of peace. Examples that would depict the chaotic events due to communism would be Stalin in the USSR and Mao ZeDong in China. What kind of government is the ideal government? Who rules in this ideal government? In my opinion, the ideal government does not exist. For there to be an ideal government, we need a ruler who would not misuse his power. We also need the wealthy to not be so selfish and learn how to become humble with their riches. Lastly, we need the people to voice out their opinions of matters so that they will become satisfied with the rules and laws. Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, reasoned that the ideal form of a government would be monarchy. Aristotle had too much pride him himself to become a realist. So he knew this could easily lead to the abuse of power. Aristotle wrote that people with good intentions would suit most societies. This was called a polity. In a polity, it could be the rich or the poor, who would dominate the government, just as long as theyre well qualified. The total opposite of a monarchy. According to a blog owned by Owen Barder, a development economist, one of the reasons to oppose monarchy would be because its nearly impossible to separate the Church and State. This is a piece of religious discrimination which is a danger in a multi- cultural, mainly secular society. According to Aristotle, mankind has already made true constitutions that started out with pure intentions to aim for the common good. But later on, along with the pure intentions they had, they became corrupted. The true constitutions in the beginning were Royalty, Aristocracy, and Constitutional Government. Royalists could start out as virtuous rulers, but when corrupted would turn into a Tyranny where the virtuous ruler will transform into a lawless ruler. Concerning Aristocracy, it would at first be ruled by the virtuous who think for the good of the people. When corrupted, it ends up being an Oligarchy where it is ruled by the wealthy who think for themselves only. Lastly we have the Constitutional Government where everyone has a share of political power. When corrupted, it becomes a democracy in where it is ruled by the poor for their own interest. Personally, I really do believe that there is no such thing as an ideal government since there are too much flaws in every singly government that I could think of. Most people would disagree with my opinion, claiming that democracy would be the best of all the governments. Their reason being its because that it gives the people the right of speech, information, voting,

etc. Basically stating that everyone is equal because they have rights. But lately, even our rights are being violated in the states. For example when Obama Touts NSA Reforms: 'America Is Not Interested in Spying on Ordinary People. It is in violation of our privacy and the disregard this by simply stating that theyre not interested in ordinary people. In conclusion, due to the fact of past government tactics failing time and time again in both history and presently, I believe that there is no such thing as an ideal government. For there to be an ideal government, there would have to be an ideal ruler, and ideal followers. Were only human, and to err is human. As we progress in life, I can only hope that we learn from mistakes to better our government systems. Though it may be corrupt, there need to be a government in order for there not to be chaos.
