SWOT Analysis

Topic: Sound Reinforcement

Strengths Making the floor plan, time table setup, timescale, and running order and risk assessment. I listen to advise from Mr Harris. I did what was asked of me + more. Weaknesses Using and setting up the PA system and all the electrical equipment. Opportunities I learnt how to set up and use the PA system. Threats A risk of tripping over the wires and cable as we set it up. Threat of an electrical shock from electrical equipment. Conclusion I produced a detailed sound reinforcement plan, which accurately describes and assesses the following: Accommodation and resources, this is to show where it will be held. The dimensions of the venue and how every thing is laid out. Schedule and timetable, these are to show when every thing is happening, when you turn music on when you turn it off. Equipment and resource inventory, this show all the equipment needed for the advent. Musicians/acts requirements, this shows what is needed for the performers e.g. CDs, Microphones and instruments. Health and safety requirements, this is shown in a map or grid saying what is needed in case of something goes wrong or there is a fire.

I followed the correct procedure on connecting and was able to power up a rehearsallevel PA system displaying good awareness of potential hazards of physical harm and any damage to the equipment that might happen if the equipment is to be set up incorrectly. I learnt where all the equipment to be placed and how to accurately test the sound system with a suitable sound source. I sound checked a vocal microphone, DId instrument and a microphone fitted acoustic instrument demonstrating a good awareness of a microphone placement feedback hazard and an accurate EQ and balance awareness. I demonstrated an ability to effectively record an extract of the mix product. I safely and effectively dismantled the PA system following a set procedure folding leads correctly ensuring that I dont break the leads on the inside and all the equipment is put away correctly and organised way to demonstrate my organisation skills. I demonstrated a good evaluation skill when considering how well I set up the PA system. Finally I gave a clear self assessment of my strengths and areas of development with goals to improve on.
