Answer any FIVE Questions
All Questions carry equal marks
?????

1. The load flow data for the system in figure1 is given in the following tables.

Figure 1:

Bus code p-q Impedance zpq

1-2 0.+j0.05 p.u
1-3 0.+j0.1
2-3 0.+j0.05
Generation Load
Bus code Assumed bus voltage Megawatts Megavars Megawatts Megawars
1 1.03+j0 p.u 0 0 0 0
2 1.00+j0.0 50 - 20 10
3 1.00+j0.0 0 0 20 20
The voltage magnitude at bus 2 is to be held at 1.0 p.u. The maximum and min-
imum reactive power limits at bus2 are 50 and -10 Megavars, respectively. With
bus 1 as the slack, use G.S. method and Y bus to obtain a load flow solution upto
one iteration.(Assume Base mva=50) [16]

in power systems deriving necessary equations.
(b) What are P-V Buses? How are they handled in the above method. [12+4]

4. A 20 MVA, 11 KV, 3-phase, 50 Hz, generator has its neutral earthed through
a 5% reactor. It is in parallel with another identical generator having isolated

reactance of 15% and zero sequence reactance of 10%. If a line to ground short
circuit occurs in the common bus bar, determine short circuit MVA.Show how the
sequence methods can be represented for the faualt. [16]

bus impedance matrix method and explain. [8+8]

i. Steady state stability limit.
ii. Dynamic state stability limit.
iii. Transient state stability limit .
(b) List the assumptions made in the transient stability solution techniques.
