Diver Dan

There was a boy from Florida. His name is Dan. At the Age of 8 years old he tired Scuba Diving in a pool. The pool was at a friend of Dans dad.

From that day on Dan was hooked on Scuba. He was determined to become a certified Diver. A number of years went by until Dans High School years.

Dans Diving Class

Just before Dans 15th birthday his parents enrolled him in a Scuba Diving Class. Where he met his instructor for the Scuba class and her name was Diana.

This is where Dan and the other students learned about Scuba diving equipment. Diana taught the basics about masks , snorkels ,fins , tanks, regulators ,gauges , wetsuits and weight belts.

Diving instruction includes sections about physics ,theories , diving tables, and safety rules. Not just diving and practical application.

Pool Skills
After the classroom Diving theory and safety rules were taught. Our Instructor conducted a swimming skills test. Once that was complete and most all of the students passed. Diana then moved on to the snorkeling skills in shallow water. In the 4 feet section of the indoor pool.

We begin to start diving with Scuba in the shallow section of the pool. This is where mask and regulator clearing and recovery were taught.

Our class moved off of the shallow ledge and in to the deeper 12 feet section of the pool. Diving begin to become fun. Beginning and ending a dive with a buddy and continuous periodic air gauge checks were stressed.

All the skills taught for regulator and mask clearing were reinforced. Repeated and sometimes sneaky regulator and mask recovery drills were often used by Diana.

Open water dives

After two weeks of classes on diving theory and practical diving application our class was ready for a freshwater spring dive. On Saturday we geared up for our open water dive at Rainbow River in Dunnellon , Florida.

There was another two weeks of class before our next open water dive. Skills were taught and reinforced. An underwater obstacle course was set up in the pool. Trading masks underwater and using a line and blackout mask were all second nature.

On the Saturday after the 4th week of class we had our second set of open water dives. These dives were held adjacent to the Manatee sanctuary at Kings Spring in Crystal River, Florida.

Diver Dan
After our second set of open water dives we had a written test on diving theory. All students passed the written theory test and became certified divers. Dan finally achieved his dream of becoming a certified Scuba Diver.

Dan has been a Scuba Diver for 24 years and has been diving in Florida ,the Bahamas, St. Croix, France, Greece , Palma de Mallorca Spain, Seychelles, and Jordan.
