Function
This unit forms the interface between the internal bus of a 2 Mbit/s multiplexer and 15 audio channels with 1E&1M signalling.

Information for system configuration

CTC version : CTC3 Internal bus channels : As the unit is provided with a programmable CTC, the position of the unit on the subrack determines the unit address. The position of the channel signals on the internal buses and hence the bus channel numbers (from 1 to 15 and from 17 to 31) are determined by means of man-machine commands : 2 groups of bus channels are available for one CSU : 1 to 15 or 17 to 31; all channels on the same CSU must be connected to the same group; the position of each channel in the group is fixed : channel N on the CSU can thus be connected to bus channel N or (N+16); as soon as 1 channel on a CSU is allocated to a bus channel, the group is fixed (all other channels must be allocated to the same group); the number of channels that are used on each CSU is free : unused bus channels can be allocated by other CSU's.

Signalling type options : refer to the first appendix document : equipment layout. Correspondence between E- and M-wire status and signalling bits can be selected with straps, see strap options

Strap options
For the location of the jumpers refer to figure 1. For each channel on the unit a selection is possible between 4-wire and 2-wire operation by means of the corresponding jumpers on Xi21 : D jumpers in position 1-2 and 3-4 : 4-wire operation; D jumpers in position 1-3 and 2-4 : 2-wire operation. Remark : i is 1 to 15 for the channels 1 to 15 on the unit. The correspondence between the E-wire status and the corresponding signalling bits can be selected by means of the switch S81 : D switch in position A : E-wires grounded make signalling bits 0; D switch in position B : E-wires grounded make signalling bits 1. The correspondence between the M-wire status and the corresponding signalling bits can be selected by means of the switch S42 : D switch in position A : signalling bits 0 make M-wires grounded; D switch in position B : signalling bits 1 make M-wires grounded. The TFC alarm can be enabled or disabled on the unit by means of the switch S1 : D switch in position A : TFC alarm enabled; D switch in position B : TFC alarm disabled. The status of the M-wires during TFC alarm (if enabled, see above) and power-up can be selected by means of the switch S58 : D switch in position A : M-wires open during TFC alarm and power-up; D switch in position B : M-wires grounded during TFC alarm and power-up.
