Article Ecuador against Chile

The 15th of October 7:30pm in Chile`s stadium, Estadio Nacional de Santiago a football match took place between Ecuador and Chile. Chile won by scoring two goals by Alexis Sanchez and Gary Medel and Ecuador only one goal by Antonio Valencia. Both teams qualified into the 2014 world cup because it is argued that Chile could have played better on the second half, so because they were not as focused as they were on the first half, Ecuador had the advantage to score one goal. "This team deserve to be at the World Cup. We dedicate this to Chucho's memory,"1 Ecuador coach Reinaldo Rueda said referring to the striker Cristian Benitez, who died suddenly of heart failure in July. "This is a very strong team. Now we have to improve even more to play the World Cup with chances to go far. I never imagined this, I can't even measure it now," 2 said Chile`s coach said Jorge Sampaoli after knowing his team Chile had qualified into the World cup. Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Ecuador are the top four teams that advance automatically into the finals in the nine-nation group. This match has not been the first match to define if Chile or Ecuador are able to qualify in the world cup. In there previous history some of there historic matches have been the 1966 England world cup were Ecuador was tied against Chile and had to define their entrance in the world cup by playing with Chile in Lima, however Ecuador lost. On the American cup 2007 Chile was loosing against Ecuador 2-0 until the 80th minute were Chile scored an additional two goals and won. Another of their matches to see if they qualified in the 1982 Spain world cup, this took place in Santiago were Chile won. Lastly one of their historic matches took place in the South America world cup 2010, Ecuador won against Chile by one goal scored by Chucho Venites. Looking at the results of most of the historic matches between Ecuador and Chile, we can see that Chile has been most likely to succeed on winning than Ecuador. This has created a rivalry between this two teams and being able to qualify into the 2014 Brazil world cup has been very important to them. This could later create a very exciting match in the World cup 2014 Brazil and more to come matches between these two football teams.
