(PART OF) FAMILY RETURNS TO THE UK
Ic has been wonderful to be back home in the USA! We

have enjoyed our visits with you ~ our supporters and we praise the Lord for all the encouragement and kindness shown to us throughout this furlough. Spending time with our extended family has been a great joy. Our children have been thoroughly spoiled by family, friends, and supporters. But now our furlough is drawing to a
close.

Birmingham and his diploma at Springdale College, he ministered alongside Larry, myself, and our families at Bromsgrove Christian Church. He and Angela plan to be married in England on September 6, 1997 at Bromsgrove Christian. Angela and Graham are not sending out formal
invitations, but extend an invitation to all to come to the

wedding.

On March 13, Debbie, Autumn, David, and Samuel

returned to England. They needed to return at this time so Autumn and David could take their year-end exams. Before we came home on furlough, the teachers at the British high school gave Debbie the materials and assignments that Autumn and David would need to preparefor these exams. So, we have been home-schooling in America using the British educational system! Debbie and the children are also searching for a house for us to rent. I have remained in the USA to complete our
support raising.

Angela was with us for the first ten weeks of our furlough, mid-June to late August. But because of the demands of
her school classes (she's in Advanced or A-Levels), she had

to return to Great Britain long before the rest of us. We

are so thankful that she was able to come back to America

and also spend one week with us during the Christmas holiday.

SUPPORT STILL NEEDED

As God provides for our needs in the following three ways, I will join my family in Great Britain,
First: Obviously, we are engaged in a primarily spiritual
battle. First and foremost, we need renewed and new

commitments from congregations and individuals who will pray for our family members monthly, weekly, or daily.
Second: While still on the field, with about one year to go before furlough, one of our major supporting congrega tions had to significantly reduce its support. This situation, coupled with increased costs in Great Britain and inflation, required us to find additional monthly financial provision. At the beginning of our furlough, we needed $2,700 in additional monthly support. But, praise the Lord, through the increased giving of our present support ing congregations and through new supporting churches or individuals, the Lord has already provided $1,600 of that amount. Consequently, even though we have come a long way in the last few months, we still need to increase our present level of monthly support by about $1,100.
Third: In order to reoutfit us to return as missionaries to

WEDDING PLANS

Of course, the other important news regarding Angela is the announcement of her engagement to be married to Graham Richards. You may remember Graham as one of the British young men we worked with in Great Britain. While Graham finished his degree at the University of

Great Britain, we have some needs that can be met

through one-time gifts. For instance, v^e need to purchase

a computer, a printer, and somesoftware. We also need to

now three British elders in place. The believers are learning to take financial responsibility for their own leadership and operating costs. And they are sacrificially
participating ~ individually and corporately in the

worldwide mission of God. Furthermore, it is with great joy thatI am able to report that Peter Billingham (one of the three British elders) was introduced to the Bromsgrove Christian Church as the unanimous choice (ofLarry, the elders, and myself) to be voted on as the congregation's
new preaching minister. Larry reported that Peter's introduction was followed by a lengthy, thunderous
applause! Praise the Lord!

With mixed emotions our family ends this furlough and returns to the field. As I said
earlier, we will be involved in a brand new work in a new area (for us) of Great Britain. We will

eradicate the indebtedness we incurred

multiply ourselves through the training of British men and women in new church planting. So, we
are excited about the work ahead. Nevertheless,

as a result of the reduced support. We still need to raise approximately $18,000 in one-time gifts to equip us for return
to the field to minister.

Dear Friend,

CMF

Asyouknow, Debbie Foust andthe children lefttheUS on March 13 for Great Britain so the children

could be present for their year-end exams. Tom remained in the US to continue working with
supporting partners until monthly budget needs wereunderwritten.

Tom and Debbie are enthusiastic about identifying the location for their new church plant in England. On June 12, Tom returned to England for a visit ofatleast four weeks, to join the family and focus on church plant research. This new outreach makes itcrucial for the Fousts to have a fully funded
budget.

There are churches who are currently considering partnership with the Fousts, and we are praying for
decisions that will make itunnecessary for him to make a retum trip tothe US.

We are confident that the Foust family is where God wants them in ministry. God has been pouring out provision for this ministry. During this furlough, the Fousts needed $2,700 in additional monthly
support. They are within $500 of this amount. One-time funds are coming intoward one-time

purchases and the deficit in their account, which resulted from the shortage in monthly support.
Tom recently wrote:

to assist the British Christians in beginning achurch-planting movement in the UK. Our partners in ministry, Larry and Debbie Kineman, flew (with their children) to America for their furlough on May
22. The retum ofthe Kinemans marked the transition ofthe Bromsgrove Christian Church to British
leadership.

including church planting. These are the twin pillars ofour work during this next term. "We are convinced that we are engaged in aspiritual battle. Consequently, those congregations and individuals who pray for our family members daily, weekly, ormonthly or who support us with their finances join us in this ministry as surely as we are joining with the Lord Jesus Christ. We thank you for your partnership with us and its high calling."

Pleasejoin us in praying about the completion ofthe budget needs. Ifyou know someone who might
want to partner with theFousts intheirministry to England, please letme know.

November 1997

Dear Friends,

age living anywhere near. Relationships with our neighbors

are developing.

We are very excited about the possibilities that God has put before us. We look forward to all the wonderful things that He has in store. The adventure that our family has
embarked on is one that we have never been on before. We

are always waiting to see what tomorrow will hold. Let me share with you some of the ways that God is directing us.

We have started a high school Bible study. Two of the girls from our streetattended the first meeting. The law in this country requires religious education to be taught as part of the curriculum in the schools. This has opened the opportunity for us to share a biblical view with the young people with whom we are working. Even though the title of the class is Religious Education, the biblical view is almost never brought up. They study things like abortion, birth control, and euthanasia as part of the religious education course. Most of the time, they must write a paper in which they must present more than one view of the topic. Our first Bible study was on abortion, and the girls were very interested in the conversation. It was the first time that
they had heard the biblical view. A few of the things that

they had heard about abortion at school were: it is okay if you are too young to have a baby, if your career is on the

line, or as a form of birth control. We gave them a different view on the topic. Psalm 139 was our Scripture reference. The discussion was interesting and gave the girls much to think about. They are looking forward to next week.

We came back to England because we believed our work in England was not done. God's hand was in the finding of
this house. The first time I looked at the house, I decided it
was too small. I looked for two more weeks and could not

been an adjustment for me. I was not used to having such a small group to worship with. I have adjusted, and now enjoy it very much. I have a better understanding of the Scripture, "whenever two or more ofyougather in my name, there I am aba. went back and had a second look at this house to see if we

could make do for a short time until I could find a bigger house. Only after moving into the house did I realize that God had put us here for a reason.

We had been praying, along with all of our prayer warriors, for God to open the hearts of the people in England and for them to be receptive. I was thinking of receptivity to the Gospel. God knew that we needed the people to be receptive to something else as well: tis!

Several people have asked us whether Princess Diana's death has had any effect on the people here and the way they are thinking about death. As with any untimely death, people want to know why. Why did this happen to someonewho was in the prime of her life? She did so much good for people. People in this country are definitely looking for answers to these questions and many others. They want to believe that it only takes being a good person to get to heaven. They are looking, and they don't even know what it is they are looking for. People are asking questions, and we hope they will listen to us as we respond. Pleasecontinue to pray with us about the receptivity of the people here to the Gospel.

Please pray for Autumn and David as they are in GCSE (General Certificate of SecondaryEducation) studies in high school. Pray for wisdom and strength for them as they are in the midst of a youth culture that is antagonistic to the Gospel. Please prayfor me as I homeschools Samuel. Prayfor us as we encourage and train British nationals in the church-planting task. Prayfor Tom as he assists with the work at SpringdaJe College.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Pray for Angela and Graham Richards who were married September6. They live in Leicester and work with Kevin and Marie Yates in starting a new congregation.
Pray for those with whom we are developing relationships. For four hours each week, Tom coaches

basketball at the local high school and coaches/plays with

one of the area division teams. In both instances, good contacts are being made for future Bible studies and/or

worship services. Also, we are finding our neighbors in the

six houses around us to be receptive to the Gospel to one degree or another. Pray for the two young ladies who have gone with our family when wevisited Bromsgrove Christian Church for their worship service.

The BigDay: Tom and Debbie, Graham and Angela Richards.
