Hideaway Laundry Hamper from Hideaway Bins

www.hideawaybins.co.nz

Whether hidden behind a cupboard, in the garage or a standalone room, the laundry is an integral part of the home and needs to be carefully considered early in the design process. Every home needs plenty of storage and the laundry is no exception think about the multitude of items that are associated with, and often kept in this space. Washing powders, clothesbaskets, dirty laundry, ironing boards, the iron, the vacuum cleaner, mops and the list goes on. In many instances this is also the room in which the hot water cylinder can be found, linen, towels and more So where do you start when planning this utility room? Location - If you are lucky enough to be building a brand new home consider the location of your laundry in relation to external access. Do you want to be carrying a basket of wet washing through the house to get to the washing line? Appliances - One of primary considerations for this space is appliances. First and foremost it is important to think about the size of your family, now and into the future. Also consider the practicalities of a dryer before investing in one as it will need venting, which can be difcult unless placed on an external wall. Benchtops - Like the kitchen, a workable benchtop space, with an integrated sink is a must in the laundry. This is a bench that will be used for bleaching and washing so it is important you consider this when selecting your benchtop material. Drying Racks - More and more we are seeing a drying space being integrated into this room. This can be as simple as having a space to safely drip dry woolens above the sink, built in hanging rails or even just having enough oor space for a freestanding clothes rack. Drawers - Whether your laundry is big or small you cant go past the versatile nature of the drawer, and in particular a drawer that acts as a removable washing basket. The Hideaway Laundry Hamper from Hideaway Bins features air vents to reduce moisture and a robust steel frame designed to withstand the weight of wet washing.

1. Wallpaper is no longer just for covering a whole wall! If you have found the perfect wallpaper but the price point doesnt allow for more than one roll, or you are worried the pattern might be too intense why not frame it, or stretch it over a canvas and hang on the wall as artwork. 2. The most important thing to remember in your interior is that it is yours. A great way to do this is through the display of photos, artwork and quirky bits and pieces that tell the story of those who live there. Varying heights and widths will increase depth and add variation to your display. Extending your bookcase displays up the wall can be a great way to ll awkward wall space. 3. One the easiest ways to update your dcor is with cushions. Whether you make them yourself or buy them ready-made they are a great way to introduce the latest fabric trends and colours into to your interior without having to make dramatic change. 4. Every home has a wall that leaves something to be desired. Be it an expansive bedroom wall or even the kitchen breakfast bar kick-back. My WallArt is the solution. The eco-friendly 3D wall panels are a DIY dream to undertake and with 20 designs on offer there is something for every interior. 5. Play with words. With a number of companies selling colourful letters in varying fonts, at a cost-effective price this is an easy and cheap way to add something new to your interior. 6. Bring life into your home by making the most of what grows seasonally. From herbs and small veges on the windowsill to owering pots on the dining table. Try combining potted plants with vases and vessels overowing with branches, foliage and blooms. 7 . Mirrors are great way to add depth and movement to a space. Whether you opt for a wall of mirrors or a large ornate statement mirror, you will nd your space is larger and brighter almost instantly.

With summer fast approaching, there is nothing Kiwis enjoy more than to relax at home with family and friends, enjoying the sun, the fresh air and a few cold beers with the famous Kiwi barbecue. There's something deeply satisfying about cooking outside, and there is nothing like the smell of ame-grilled food to stir the appetite, and to taste all the better for being cooked and served in the fresh air. So, to expand on this, many are turning to the outdoor kitchen concept, which is a fabulous idea! An outdoor kitchen and dining area will give you the opportunity to entertain alfresco while cooking. New Zealanders are choosing to add these areas, and landscape designers and builders are experienced in creating all weather living spaces that are adding value and ow to indoor/ outdoor living.

ultimate outdoor

An outdoor kitchen does not need to be large, it just needs to be well planned and functional. Enabling it to become a place to relax and spend quality time with family and friends. Organising the outdoor space with the right equipment will make it a versatile outdoor "room" that needs to be visually appealing and to ow with the rest of your landscaping and exterior. It should be a welcoming inviting space thats a natural gathering spot. So, where to start; decide on the specic space, be it part of the garden, a patio or deck, and design the area to include items that will suit your requirements. The type of outdoor kitchen to be created will depend on the size of the area, and your budget. It can include something as simple as a storage cabinet for cooking gear, a barbecue, some seating, and a sun umbrella, or as ambitious as a full kitchen with bench-space, gas barbecue grill, wood-red pizza oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, wine chiller, sink bowl, dining space with TV Screen and an outdoor replace for ambience and heat. Also consider outdoor lighting. A good design will add effect and complete the look, while ensuring your area is illuminated enough to be enjoyed long into the night. Now to your products, choose the nish and materials well, for the use outdoors perennial choice, weather resistance and longevity need to be carefully considered. There are specic appliances manufactured for outdoor use available, and there are strict guidelines and regulations that need to be adhered to when using any electric appliance outdoors. For all the electrical requirements, the supply should be properly laid with external sockets and switches and also protected with a residual current device for safety. Materials suited for outdoor use are granite, marble, concrete, ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles, natural stone, stainless steel, marine ply, timber and other manufactured materials consider all options and choose wisely. There is a good selection of outdoor furniture manufactured to cope with the changeable temperatures and outdoor conditions of rain, moisture, humidity and sun exposure. These include dining sets, seating arrangements and sun loungers. To add a more permanent sunshade, retractable louvre roof panels will control the sunshine, shade and heat, and be a welcome addition on a very hot day. As with everything there is a maintenance requirement, remember good regular cleaning care will extend the life of all the products used. Cooking outside is a welcome change, it's easy but more fun! Your under utilized outdoor space could become the ultimate outdoor kitchen.

Where To Start - Despite being a utility area in the home, the bathroom is also a space for relaxation, so needs to be designed with both concepts in mind. Make a list of the things you must have in the space and things you would like to have. This will allow you to prioritise your budget on items that are not only essential to the operation of the space, but also important to you. Also consider how, and who, will use the bathroom. How many drawers and shelves do you need, do you want a bath, if you have a shower unit with doors is there going to be enough space to open them, and so forth.

It is important to remember that your bathroom is a utility area so less is more, and drawers are a great way to not only store items such as toilet paper, soap and towels, but to hide away your personal items, keeping the bathroom clean, crisp and uncluttered. Engage A Designer - Whether you are building or renovating, after the kitchen, the bathroom is the most expensive area of the home and the cost of getting a designer involved will save you in the long run. There is nothing worse than opening a bathroom door and looking directly at a toilet, so by working with a designer you can ensure the space is functional and aesthetically pleasing both inside and outside the room.

Fittings & Furniture - Invest in good quality fittings. What might seem like a bargain at the start, may end up costing a lot more than you saved when they fail. Where possible ensure you are working with reputable brands that have been around for awhile, as if you need a spare part in the future, it will be easier to tack it down. Dont forget that in the bathroom you want to ensure your vanity surfaces and so forth are clean and hygienic from the outset. So think about the materials, fittings and furniture you are introducing to the space, as you want them to be sealed and easy to clean! Colour - As the bathroom is a space often used for applying makeup and looking at oneself in the mirror, colour plays an important role. Lighter colours will reflect the light and make your space look larger, while dark colours will absorb the light making the room appear smaller. The use of the same, or similar colours across all surfaces will allow the eye to move seamlessly across the space, making the whole area look larger. Floors & Walls - Waterproofing the bathroom isnt just about ensuring the water stays in your shower or bath, it is about protecting what is underneath as well as your walls and floors from swelling and rotting as a result of moisture. Hence it is critical that you dont scrimp on your floor and wallcoverings as it could cost you more in the long run! Ensure that whomever you engage to complete the work is licensed to do so.

storage solutions
Storage is essential to the way in which we live our lives and interact with our homes. From the toy-box to the bookcase, at all stages of life storage is critical. Yet despite this, it is often left until the end of the budilding process, and as a result compromised. For small spaces, storage can be the key to transforming your space from haven to heaven giving every item a home and creating more space in which you can relax and enjoy. Here is some food for thought when it comes to storage + Inbuilt shelves are a great way to make use of space in the wall cavities but make sure your shelves are going to be deep enough for your needs. In the kitchen this could be about ensuring cans and tins will t in multiple rooms deept, while in the laundry you want to ensure you shelves are deep enough to hold bath sheets and towels. + Walk-in-wardrobes are the way of the future! Their function and ability to be customised to store virtually everything (not just shoes and clothes, think suitcases, christmas decorations and more) have seen them emerge as a standard in almost all new homes. + Shelving, drawers and baskets add a touch

i-stock images

of personality to a wardrobe or any other open shelving. The top shelf can be used to store items you rarely need to access, such as out of season clothes, accessories and bags. While cane baskets or boxes with lids add texture and colour and can double as great storage. + Use dead space to your advantage. In the kitchen, rather than having an inbuilt kick-toe between the bottom of your cupboard and the oor, why not have a pull out drawer? Perfect for storing oven trays, large dishes and bakeware.

+ Drawers in the kitchen and bathroom now come with an array of accessories and technology driven additions designed to make life easier, such as dividers to ensure the drawers dont get cluttered, soft-close functions and for those who dont like handles, push technology. + Consider using plastic crates for tidying away kids toys. They are cost-effective, colourful and a great way to keep things clutter free without the hassle of having everything on display.
