Design of piles Design of Bored Cast-in-situ and under reamed Concrete piles will be furnished to the constructor in contract documents.

4.3

Materials All materials, concrete, steel, aggregates, water, etc. which are to be used in the Construction work, shall conform to IS 456 and Standard Specification for Plain and Reinforced Concrete G3IR-1000-15-SP-9003 UNO. 4.2.1 Concrete Methods of the manufacture of cement concrete shall in general, be in accordance with IS: 2911 (part I/Sec.2) and IS: 2911 part-3 for respective type of piles. The concrete shall be of M30 grade with minimum strength of 30N/mm2 at 28 days. The cement content shall not be less than 400kg/m3. The allowable slump shall be as per IS: 2911 part1, sec2 and IS: 2911 part-3 for respective type of piles. 4.2.2 Cement Ordinary Portland cement of 43 grade shall be used as per requirements of shall conform to IS 456 and Standard Specification for Plain and Reinforced Concrete G3IR-1000-15-SP-9003 UNO. 4.2.3 Reinforcement IS: 2911 part1, sec2 and IS: 2911 part-3 shall be followed for installing the reinforcement in the respective type of piles. Minimum cover to the main reinforcement shall be 50 mm.

5.0

INSTALLATION: Installation of piles shall be carried out in accordance with pile layout drawings which shall be available to the contractor at the time of execution of work. Cutoff level of the piles shall correspond to those given in the working drawings. To ensure dense and sound concrete up to the cut of level, concreting shall extend up to 1000mm or ground level (whichever is maximum) above the cut off level. In case the reinforcement cage is made up of more than one segment, the same shall be assembled by welding only before lowering as per IS: 456 by providing necessary laps.

The vertical reinforcement shall project 55 times its diameter above the cutoff level. 6.0 CONSTRUCTION 6.1 Bored cast-in-situ piles The construction of Bored cast-in-situ piles shall be in accordance with the provision of IS: 2911 part1, sec2. The borehole sides shall be stabilized using direct and circulation technique. The concreting shall be done by termite observing all necessary precautions and producers as per IS: 2911 part-1 section 2 provisions. The final clearing of the borehole byres mud circulation must be accomplished just prior to commencement of concreting by tremie. The quality of drilling and used shall be checked as per latest IS: 2911 part-1 section 2 provisions and shall be replaced if it does conform to the same. The concreting shall be proceeding immediately after completion of the drilling and cleaning process of the borehole. The concrete shall be placed by a tremie be in accordance with the provision of IS: 2911 part1, sec2. All precaution for obtaining clear and sound pile shaft be strictly observed. To ensure dense and sound concrete up to cutoff level concreting shall be extended for length of 1000mm above the cut off level. However, no extra payment shall be made for this and quoted rate shall be inclusive of this. Under Reamed Piles Construction and installation of all Under Reamed Piles shall be in accordance with the provision of IS: 2911 part-3. 7.0 DEFECTIVE PILES: Defective piles shall be removed or left in place, as judged convenient by the Engineer-in-charge, without affecting the performance of adjacent piles or capping above and additional piles shall be provided to replace them. Corrective measures for defective piles shall be at contractors cost. 8.0 PILE TESTING: Pile test shall be carried out on a single pile as required. In case of pile groups tests, caps will be provided such that the required conditions of actual use are fulfilled. The load application and deflection observation will be made at the pile top. The test shall be carried out at cut-off level wherever practicable, otherwise suitable allowance shall be made in the interpretation of the test results test load if the test is not carried out at cut-off level.
