We are currently in great need of gift items to fill the baby baskets that welcome new little ones into our church family. Lotions, bath soap, bath items, teething rings, snack to-go cups, small toys, and sparkling cider are just a few of the things we need to fill these baskets. There are many aspects of the Christian life that we dont fully understand and yet we, as believers, take God at His Word. Concepts like grace, mercy, heaven, creation of the universe and the destruction of this present heaven and earth are vast, yet we believe what God says about them. His Word is truth and our level of understanding does not in any way change the truth and reliability of Holy cripture. There is one biblical concept that causes much discussion and even doubt about Gods Word. !t is the difficult topic of "suffering.# $s children of God, why must we suffer% What is the purpose of all these trials that result in agony and pain% imply put, why must life be so painful% omeone has said that we as Christians either get "bitter or better# as we live the Christian life. ince the main theme of &irst 'eter is " uffering,# in final e(hortation of this letter, the author answers these )uestions.

suffering.

uffering is the result of trials in our life. uffering always involves mental an(iety and pain.

*ormally, the greatest spiritual growth in any believer

comes through trials.

Gods grace is most clearly understood and valued as a

ince all three enemies tempt us to be independent of God and His Word, suffering is Gods way of keeping us close and dependent on Him.
