PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA, EGH, OGH DURING THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF KENYA PRIVATE SECTOR ALLIANCE (KEPSA) HELD ON 10TH DECEMBER, 2013 AT SAFARI PARK, NAIROBI Mr. Vimal Shah, KEPSA Chairman, Ms. Carole Kariuki, KEPSA Chief Executive Officer, Government officials present, nvite! 'he Ken&a Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) is &oun". n m& time in "overnment as the *eput& Prime Minister an! Minister of 'ra!e ha! the pleasure to %ork %ith KEPSA on !ifferent levels, as Minister for 'ra!e m& man!ate %as to facilitate "ro%th an! !evelopment of tra!e in the countr& #& championin" an ena#lin" environment for !omestic an! export #usiness to thrive. 'his is a "reat occasion not onl& for those that are "athere! here, #ut also the entire countr&, comin" at a time %hen %e are preparin" to cele#rate our +, &ears of in!epen!ence. Ken&a is in!ee! the place to #e !urin" this perio!, an! am "la! to #e part of this historical revolution as the countr& enters another phase of "ro%th. $a!ies an! "entlemen, $et me take this earliest opportunit& to con"ratulate KEPSA an! the entire #usiness communit& for the role pla&e! in the "ro%th of the econom& over the past !eca!e. 'his countr& has ma!e tremen!ous "ro%th not onl& in the private sector, #ut also the econom&, a factor lar"el& attri#ute! to the countr&-s private sector le! #& KEPSA. As a "overnment %e reco"ni.e &our efforts to%ar!s the !evelopment of this nation. /outh emplo&ment, Special reco"nition "oes to KEPSA-s role in &outh empo%erment an! emplo&ment.0ith KEPSA-s intervention, the Ken&a /outh Emplo&ment Pro"amme %as launche!. 'o!a&, approximatel& 1,,,,, &outh are "ettin" traine! throu"h internship pro"rammes in various sectors of the 2o# in!ustr&.

M& "overnment lau!s KEPSA for successfull& implementin" this pro2ect since its inception. 'his is a pro"ramme that %ill no !ou#t "o a lon" %a& in empo%erin" the &outh, %ho make this countr&-s future. $a!ies an! "entlemen, n a countr& %here !evelopmental pro2ects are rapi!l& on "ro%th, m& "overnment is puttin" in place the necessar& infrastructure to ensure smooth3runnin" of the pro2ects.'his is a move aime! at ensurin" that the private sector un!ertakes its responsi#ilities %ithout an& !ela&s. $a!ies an! "entlemen, 'his countr&-s ener"& sector remains a ke& !evelopmental tool. 'he ener"& !eman! still remains hi"h, %ith more in!ustrial processes increasin". am "rateful to see private an! pu#lic companies enterin" into partnerships to support the ener"& sector. 0ith such partnerships, the cost of ener"& is set to !rasticall& !rop, hence promotin" tra!e. 'hese partnerships coul! not #e possi#le %ere it not for the efforts ma!e #& KEPSA, an! %e all nee! to #e "rateful. M& "overnment is committe! to ensurin" "oo! "overnance an! inte"rit& in the 2o# market. 0ith this, %e shall ensure proper %ork ethics, somethin" that %ill no !ou#t attract more private investors in the market. M& "overnment %ill !eal %ith corruption in all sectors as %e aim to achieve this. Mem#ers of the Private Sector %herever &ou are, %hoever &ou are, %hatever &ou are !oin", pause, take a !eep #reath, an! "ive &ourself a thum# up for &ou are part of the ten &ear 2ourne& that has #rou"ht so much visi#le chan"e. /ou are part of 2ourne& of %inners4 this countr& is %innin"4 our people are%innin".0e are #etter to!a& than %e %ere ten &ears a"o an! &ou are to thank for the successful relationship en2o&e! #et%een the "overnment an! the private sector. 0e still have challen"es4 #ut our %ill to overcome these challen"es is "reater than ever #efore. 'his action for the People must continue. 'he #uil!in" of roa!s must continue4 the transformation of a"riculture must continue4 the creation of 2o#s must continue. 'here is no turnin" #ack. 0e !o not make ros& promises4 %e make promises %e can keep5 %e %ill continue to attract investors4 #ecause more investors means more 2o#s. 0e %ill continue to #uil! more roa!s, #ecause more roa!s create more 2o#s4 an! %e %ill continue to transform a"riculture #ecause the transformation #rin"s more 2o#s4 %e %ill
