Logos
Description: Three logo variations for the same company. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator Date: 11/02/2013 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 02 Julie Peterson Objective: Learn how to use the basic tools of illustrator. Create a variety of logos to represent a company. Process: First I started by adding in the title of the company. I centered the lettering and changed the size of the bottom word. Then I took the rectangle shape and placed it behind the text and changed the color to gray. Then I used a symbol that looked like branches coming into the square. I place the symbol in between the text and the rectangle. I then changed the text font to white so it would contrast with the dark background.

Brochure
Description: A two fold offset brochure. Program(s) / Tools used: Adobe InDesign/Adobe Illustrator/Adobe Photoshop Date: 12/05/2013 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 02 Julie Peterson Objective: Learn how to set up a foldable brochure. Learn how to create paragraph styles and how to wrap text around an image. Process: I used Adobe InDesign to create a 2 page document for my offset brochure. I first placed rulers to make the appropriate measurements of how my fold was going to look. I started by creating an all blue background to both sides of the brochure, then I added my created logo on the front of the brochure and added rectangles with gradients to give the cover depth and flow. I then the name of the company on the right tab that would appear next to the front of the brochure and added a black triangle behind the text to make it stand out. I then started to place my images on the back and inside of my brochure. I followed that process with adding my text boxes and creating a text wrap around one of my images. I think aligned the titles and text boxes with the images and changed the fonts. After that I added rectangles around my images and text boxes to add flow, contrast, and a color scheme to my brochure.

About Me

My name isBrandon Stauffer, I have been making videos since high school and I absolutely love it. I currently live in Rexburg, ID.I grew up in California and started making videos when Iwas young. I saw the creativity of my older brothers and their passion fueled me. I started learning to make fun, small videos. This led to me taking video production classes through college and filming a variety of sport events, drug awareness, school-wide broadcasts, and simple entertaining videos. Filming has become a passion for me and although I can film a variety of videos, I specialize in wedding videos.

What We Offer
We offer Half-day or Full-day wedding packages. Each packageincludes: -4 DVD copies -Full highlights of the wedding set to music We also offer Save the Date videos, engagement videos, and Love Story videos. Our prices vary on every package depending on what you need covered. The prices vary from $400 - $800 on weddings and my prices are usually lower for Save the Date, engagement, or Love Story videos.

Event Ad
Description: A full-bleed color event ad to promote a fund-raiser using only Microsoft Word and a scanner. Program(s) / Tools used: Microsoft Word Epson Scanner PDF2JPG.net (PDF converter) Date: 10/10/2013 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 02 Julie Peterson Objective: Find and scan a high quality image. Create a full bleed and learn how to design in Microsoft Word. Process: I scanned the face image then placed it into word. Next, I started to use rectangle and triangle shapes to outline the right and bottom sides of the image. I then changed the colors of the shapes to match the color scheme relating to skin tones. Next, I placed the title toward the center of the page. Then I placed text boxes with the date, time, and place with instructions about what to do at the bottom right of the page. Then I found matching fonts that wouldnt clash and aligned the text boxes and put them in close proximity.

Description: A black and white flier promoting a graduate leadership conference. Program(s) / Tools used: Adobe InDesign Date: 10/3/2013 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 02 Julie Peterson Objective: Learn typography and apply principles of design. Use basic InDesign tools to create a flier using a logo, text and image. Process: I created four sketches of possible design layouts. I chose various details from two of the designs and started by emphasizing the title. Then I used black and gray rectangular boxes to give flow and structure. I then added the image and small body copy, finding fonts that worked with each other. Following that, I aligned the logo and website then added the date, time, and place near the title, keeping everything properly aligned and in good proximity. At the end, I used repetition with rectangular boxes to create an aesthetically pleasing design.

Montage
Description: A montage with blended images to inspire others. Program(s) / Tools used: Adobe Photoshop Date: 10/26/2013 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 02 Julie Peterson Objective: Learn how to apply layers to Photoshop and how to blend images using masks. Then applying a filter to the background and proper typography. Process: I loaded the image and cropped to an 11 x 8.5in size. Then I applied a filter labeled angled strokes to the background. I then placed in the next two photos on top of the background and added a mask to both images. Using the a large black brush with 100% opacity, I took off the hard edges to the pictures. Then I decreased the opacity to 40% and started to blend the images borders, then I decreased opacity to 20% and blended the images more. After that I added text in the upper right corner. Then I sized the text by enlarging the quote and decreasing the author.

Imaging
Description: A personally taken photograph that has been edited/ formatted using Photoshop. Program(s) / Tools used: Adobe Photoshop Date: 10/19/2013 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 02 Julie Peterson Objective: Learn how to operate a camera and practice basic photography skills. Crop an image, select a portion of the image, change the saturation and hue levels, and apply a filter to create a contrast. Process: I took this picture using my Canon Rebel T3i. I opened the picture into Photoshop and cropped it into 6x6 image. Then using the quick selection tool, I selected the foreground and desaturated the background. Then I applied a filter labeled smudge stick. I increased the strokes of the filter to increase the effect. Then I put the picture on a canvas and set margins.

Web Page
Description: A web page designed to showcase a logo I have created. Program(s) / Tools used: TextWrangler and Adobe Photoshop Date: 11/22/2013 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 02 Julie Peterson Objective: Learn how to create a web page using HTML and CSS. Become efficient in applying text to web page and finding/ changing hex colors, applying and sizing a logo, how to change fonts and learn how to link a CSS file to an HTML file. Process: I used HTML/CSS web programming to create this page on the TextWrangler application. I used HTML to mark up all the content on my page. Then I attached an already made CSS document to the HTML. My logo was a simple black color but I wanted a color scheme to compliment it and I felt blue did just that. I opened Photoshop and used the eyedropper tool to locate the code behind each color and placed those colors into my CSS. Then I changed my fonts to Trajan Pro 3 and Helvetica. Just in case those fonts werent available, I had backup fonts placed in as well. Then I made sure everything had good proximity and distance from the edge of the web page and saved my work.

Letterhead
Description: A letterhead for a business. Program(s) / Tools used: Adobe Illustrator and InDesign Date: 11/09/2013 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 02 Julie Peterson Objective: Learn how to create a letterhead using design principles for a business. Learn how to apply a watermark and match a color scheme with a business logo. Process: Using Illustrator, I created the title using a Trajan Pro 3 font. I ungroup the text and minimized and centered Cinema underneath Time Frame. Then I created a brush stroke above and below the logo. Once the logo was completed I placed it inside an InDesign document and placed it in the top left corner. I then created a dashed line underneath the logo. My next step, was to add my name on the top right corner above the line and to add my contact information below the line. I colored my name green to match my business card. Then I added the logo again without the text in the center of the brush strokes. After placing the logo on the page, I enlarged it and reduced the opacity to create a watermark.

Business Card
Description: A business card to promote a business. Program(s) / Tools used: Adobe Illustrator and InDesign Date: 11/09/2013 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 02 Julie Peterson Objective: Learn how to create a business card using design principles for a business. Learn how to size a rectangle to fit a business card and apply a color scheme to match a logo and contact information. Process: Using Illustrator, I created the title using a Trajan Pro 3 font. I ungroup the text and minimized and centered Cinema underneath Time Frame. Then I created a brush stroke above and below the logo. Then I opened an InDesign document and used the rectangle tool to create the front and back outline of my business card. I rotated the rectangles to be a landscape design. Then I placed my logo on the top part of the business card. On the other half of the business card I put my name and information in the center with right alignment. After that, I used a brush stroke from Adobe Illustrator and colored it to match the letterhead. Then I placed it around my contact information and changed the background color to black, also changing the text to white to create contrast.
