Imaging
Description:
This is an original picture that I took and edited in Photoshop.

Date:
October 19, 2013

Objective:
Learn basic photography, learn to adjust brightness, contrast, hue, and staturation, and learn to apply filters to a selection.

Process:
I first had to go out and take pictures that displayed different things like focus in the foreground and focus in the background. For this picture I used focus in the foreground. After I had cropped the picture I made a selection of the flowers and brightened those while I desaturated the background. Then I put a filter, Cutout, on the flowers to give it a better look. All of this was done in Photoshop.

Programs/Tools Used:
I used Photoshop to do all of the editing and I used a magnetic lasso, quick selection, and filters to complete this project.

Web Page
Description:
For this project I had to take the logo I had previous created and design a website around it. Making sure that it look appealing, the colors matched, and everything was formatted correctly.

Date:
November 23, 2013

Objective:
Design a web page using HTML to display the logo and content. Acquire a working knowledge of HTML and CSS.

Process:
The first thing I had to do for this project was chose what logo I wanted to use. I went with the circle logo because it was a very simple design but it still looked professional. I chose red, white, and black as the colors because they are the school colors for this class ran business. I included in the websites specific tools I used like the circle tool and the type on a line tool. I also included why it appeals to the target audience, and also including a small skill I used to make it look professional. Finally I included a small fun fact about the business. I made sure to keep everything aligned and I tried to make sure there was good flow throughout the whole website.

Programs/Tools Used:
For this project I used Illustrator to design my logo. Then for the web page I used Notepad++ for all the codes. In illustrator I used the circle tool and the type on a line tool.

Business Card
Description:
This is a letterhead and a business card that I created for a class business back in my high school. It combines the name of the class/business with the simplicity of the design.

Date:
November 9, 2013

Objective:
Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead. Use The basic tools of Illustrator & InDesign.

Process:
For this project I had to create another logo and this was tough for me because I had no idea what else I could make. I decided just to keep it simple with this design. I started by trying to make the G and A equal distance from each other and from the sides. Then I knew I should probably spell out the name but I didnt know where to put it. I decided to out it on a path on the inside of the circle. Thats how I made the logo. As for the letter head I wanted to keep it simple, I choose the circles for the line because it kind of went with my logo. Then for the water mark I took the logo and removed the inside text that way it would conflict with the body copy that would go on it. The business card I wanted to keep simple and I chose not to include a back because I couldnt think of anything I liked enough to put it on there.

Programs/Tools Used:
For this project I used Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign. Then the tools I used were the pen tool mostly. Also the shape tools.

Brochure
Description:
For this project I made a brochure to showcase some of the things that the Graphic Arts 2 program could do.

Date:
December 7, 2013

Objective:
Set up and align a two-sided, folded document. Create an original company logo and use it in a brochure. Incorporate quality images.

Process:
I started this project by thinking of different ways to set this up. I wanted to keep it simple but still catch peoples eyes. I went with a basic fold style to keep it simple but still look nice. The two white circles are going to cut out and the GA logo is going to be seen through it. I added the red spot in the inside bottom right corner to go with the flow of the circles. I also made the lines on the back not straight because it didnt really fit with anything, everything else had some curve in it. I wrote up the basic description of what the Graphic Arts program is and I also wrote somethings about some of the things they do.

Programs/Tools Used:
I used InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. I used the quick selection tool, the pen tool, the shapes tool, and the text wrapping function.

Logos
Description:
This is a make up of a few different logo ideas for a class business back at my high school.

Date:
November 2, 2013

Objective:
Create a variety of logos to fit a company or personal image. Use only the tools of Illustrator. Set up a professional display for the company.

Process:
I began this project by trying to think of what company or business I wanted to make logos for and I finally decided to do this business. I started with a simple G and A then I added the 2 and just arranged them the way I liked it. I changed my top design late in the project after the critique day. I had what was supposed to be a shutter and a 2 in it but it was too small to really notice so I changed it to this way. Then on the second one I did a simple text logo that spells out what it is and made the two connecting graphic arts. Then the third one I kept the GA 2 text but with the vertical text I spelled out graphic arts.

Programs/Tools Used:
I used Illustrator to make this project. I also used the pen tool, text, and the direct select tool for this project.

Montage
Description:
This is a montage poster I made in Photoshop by combining two pictures.

Date:
October 25, 2013

Objective:
Learn to manage Photoshop layers. Learn to blend images together smoothly, using masks. Use filters, and unifying a piece with a consistent theme.

Process:
I began this project by looking through all of my pictures that I had that I could use to make a montage with. After looking at a few possible pictures I saw this one on and thought this one would work best. I started by using a mask on the american flag picture to soften the edges. Then I put a Fresco filter on the picture. Then I added the text with a light outer glow around it. I made sure to line up the eyes on the rule of thirds.

Programs/Tools Used:
I used Photoshop, a mask, and a filter.
