Comm. 130 Julie Peterson

Program(s)/Tools:
Photoshop

Objectives: Process:

Learn how to effectively use photoshop to merge separate pictures and text into one image.

First, I found a background. Space provides a nice dream-like atmosphere, so I chose that for a background, and added a large copy of it to the Photoshop project. I used the clone stamp tool to fill in parts of it that needed more stars. I then found the old man on google. He looked wise, so I added him. I used the brush to brush away the parts of the old man and the sheep that I didnt want. I added a grain filter to him. I then added the text, and lined everything up to how I wanted it to be.

Adobe Illustrator

Objectives: Process:

Learn how to effectively use Adobe Illustrator to create a logo to be used for a company.

I created an image out of two Hs, and merged them together to create the HH. I then created the squiggly in the background. The secondary color is what made it look like it was highlighted with a cloud.

A friend of mine and I once created a company painting sidewalk numbers for houses. That company was called H&H (his last name also started with H.) Someday, we plan to do something different with H&H. Well see what happens there.

Objectives: Process:

Learn how to use Adobe Illustrator to create a logo, and use it in a practical way.

I took the logo I created, and put it in the top corner. I then created a lone at the bottom, and textured it to fit the theme of the logo. I created another image similar to the background of the logo, and placed it at the bottom as a watermark. I then put my information in at the bottom, lined up with the logo and the line.

Adobe InDesign

Objectives: Process:

Learn how to create a brochure for a potential client or company using Adobe InDesign.

First, I had to set up the Adobe Indesign Project. I made two pages, and set up the rulers, so I knew where the fold was going to be. It took a while to align the paragraphs so it looked nice. I then found a few example pictures of address paintings, and placed them on the back. The last part was the fire man. I used photoshop to cut him out of his original image, and paste the image into Indesign. Under contour options, I selected alpha channel, which made the surrounding text wrap around him.

TextWrangler

Objectives: Process:

I learned the basics of CSS and HTML, and learned how to use Photoshop to find the exact code of a particular color.

This was one of the more difficult things we did this semester. I first had to learn how to use both html and CSS. This took a few days. Once I had a good grasp on the basics of each, I then used the html template we were given, and filled in the body of the site. I also connected it to the CSS page, which I used to format the different elements of the html. I had to learn how to indent the html properly, as well as know where certain lines of code should be within the document. If one thing is wrong, it could throw everything else off. It was frustrating, but in the end, it worked!

Photoshop

Objectives:

This project helped me get experience in using the rule of thirds in photography, and how to effectively edit a picture in photoshop. I learned many of the different important functions in photoshop in the process, such as the array of selection options available. I also learned how to apply filters to select parts of the image.

Process:

I took a picture of the tree behind my work. I put it on the computer. I opened it in photoshop. I cropped the part of the image I wanted to work with. I used the color grabbing tool to grab the yellow. I applied the accented edges filter. I then used the quick select tool to grab the building, and desaturated
