1 Sap2000 transfer to Perform 3D Model

This is when File->Export->Perform Structure option was chosen. 1. This command will export out a CSI SAP2000 model in a Perform3D Structure formatted le using the following transfer rules. 2. Units are transferred according to the current SAP2000 units. 3. Only concrete/steel/rebar materials are transferred. If a concrete/steel/rebar material does not exist, a default one is automatically created during the transfer. For uniaxial/anisotropic materials, the rst set of properties are used as an isotropic material (E, Nu, G). a) The following Perform3D Materials are generated based on SAP2000 material types and are used in the corresponding components: Inelastic Steel Material, Non-Buckling Inelastic Concrete Material Inelastic Shear Material for a Wall Elastic Material for Fiber Sections Elastic Shear Material for a Wall Elastic Material for a Slab or Shell 4. Frames are transferred into dierent Perform3D Frame Member Compound Components. Depending on the material, geometry, end releases, and hinges assigned, Elastic or FEMA beam/column compounds are dened and used for frame members. a) Important: Frames with hinges are transferred based on their geometry (i.e. vertical = column, horizontal = beam, other = brace)! Perform3D Inelastic FEMA beam/column M-phi capacity/PMM capacity values need to be input by the user! Frame section modiers are not transferred. Frame osets and insertion points are not transferred. Link types other than hinges, such as isolators/dampers, are not transferred. b) The following Perform3D Inelastic properties are generated for the corresponding Compound Components: FEMA Beam, Steel Type FEMA Beam, Concrete Type FEMA Column, Steel Type FEMA Column, Concrete Type

i. The following Frame Member Compound Components are created during the transfer: CpdBmS/CpdColS/CpdBmC/CpdColC/ CpdFemaBmS/CpdFema CpdFemaBmC/CpdFemaColC/CpdEmbed

Chapter 1

Sap2000 transfer to Perform 3D Model ii. SAP2000 sections are transferred are available as Perform3D Cross Sections. Rectangular sections for concrete and I-sections for steel retain their shapes - all other sections are displaed with No specic shape when imported. The following Perform3D sections are created: Beam, Reinforced Concrete Section Beam, Steel Type, Nonstandard Section Column, Reinforced Concrete Section Column, Steel Type, Nonstandard Section Shear Wall, Inelastic Section Shear Wall, Elastic Section General Wall, Inelastic Section General Wall, Elastic Section Slab or Shell, Elastic Section

5. Shells are transferred to Perform3Ds Compound Components. Nonlinear layered shells must be comprised of at least one membrane/shell layer of concrete and one layer of rebar. The layers in the SAP2000 layered shell should be setup as follows and are transferred to the indicated Perform3D Compound Component. Conc: 1)MatAng=0, S22 nonlinear->Perform ber wall. (AxialMoment behavior) MatAng=90, S11 nonlinear->Perform ber wall. (AxialMoment behavior) 2)MatAng=0 S11 nonlinear->Perform General Wall (AxialMoment behavior in horizontal) MatAng=90 S22 nonlinear->Perform General Wall (Axial-Moment behavior in horizontal) 3)MatAng=0 or 90, S11 and S22 nonlinear->Perform General Wall (Axial-Moment behavior in H and V) The reinforcement ratio is taken as the sum of all rebar membrane/shell layer thicknesses. The concrete thickness is taken as the sum of all concrete membrane/shell layer thicknesses. Only 3- and 4-noded shells are transferred. 3-noded shells are divided into three 4-noded areas. 4-noded shells are sorted by their normal vector, checking for wall/slab/ramp orientation, etc. Mapping is done as follows: Elastic thin shell in SAP2000 -> Elastic/Inelastic Shear Wall in Perform3D Wall in SAP2000 -> Wall in Perform3D Floor/Ramp in SAP2000 -> Slab/Shell in Perform3D 6. Supports are transferred, but the local axis angle is not. Springs are not transferred. 7. Rigid diaphgram constraints are transferred, but only those with a normal in the Z-direction. 8. Masses and the Mass Source are transferred. Only Gravity/Z/Projected-Z mass in global coordinates is transferred. Only Dead/Live load patterns from the Mass Source loads are transferred. Loads on beams are converted into point masses using simply-supported beam equilibrium. Mass in Perform3D is specied as lumped mass concentrated at the nodes. 9. Compound Components generated from SAP2000 objects are automatically assigned to element groups in Perform3D, and include the orientation of the local axes. 10. SAP2000 groups are transferred to Perform3D as FRAMES.

Sap2000 transfer to Perform 3D Model 11. Nodal/Frame Distributed/Frame Point/Area Distributed and self-weight loads are transferred. Area distributed loads are transferred as equivalent point loads at the nodes. Only Dead and Live load patterns are considered. 12. Drift is dened using the highest and lowest nodes that lie along a nearly vertical line. 13. When importing from SAP2000, a default Structure Section is generated in Perform3D. This is a section cut at the base dened by cutting through all SAP2000 Frames and Areas with supports. Frames are cut at the bottom supported node, and areas are cut using the two bottom supported notes. Slabs are not considered for Perform3D Structure Sections. Note: If supports are not all at one elevation or restraints are assigned at other positions, the Structure Sections should be reviewed. 14. Nonlinear static load cases are transferred to Gravity or Static Pushover Load Cases. Force-controlled cases are transferred to Linear-Gravity Load Cases, and Displacement-controlled cases are transferred to Pushover Load Cases. Scale factors, patterns, etc. need to be input by the user. 15. Nonlinear time history load cases are transferred to Dynamic Earthquake Load Cases. Time history functions From File are saved in Perform3Ds Records directory. Note: The Perform3D records can be found in the Records folder within the Perform3D installation directory. 16. The Analysis Series in Perform3D must be created by the user. 17. The Perform3D Structure should be reviewed completely before running the model.
