n the Name of ALLAH the Most Compasionate the Most Merciful

All praises are due to ALLAH and may HS peace and blessings be on our
beloved and honorable leader and Profet Mohammad the son of Abdullah, on
his family, his companions and followers until the Day of Judgement. This write
up is an attempt to show the functions of the Da'ii ( =~ _ ) or the person
propagating slam in the today's world using the life of our beloved and most
honorable Profet Mohammad(saws) as the best example. This write up will
serve as a guide for the Da'ii in times of testing, hardship and rejection as taking
this post of Da'ii has never been without trouble for this is the continuation of the
effort of the prophets of Allah and they(peace be upon them were the most who
suffered for this most honorable cause, Allah says in the Noble Quran "Do *231
you think that you will enter Paradise without undergoing such trials as were
experienced by the believers before you? They met with adversity and affliction
and were so shaken by trials that the Prophet of the time and his followers cried
out: "When will Allah's help come"? (Then they were comforted with the good
tidings): "Yes, Allah's help is near."(1)
Before we get into the details of Da'wah and the role and specifics of the
da'ee we need to define these two words and base upon them. According to Dr.
Bilal Philips, a prominent Muslim scholar and director of the slamic Online
University,
"The Arabic term da 'w a h is derived from the verb '=~ da'aa which
means "to call; to invite; and to supplicate, i.e. to call on God. t is
used to refer to the act of conveying or calling people to the message of
slaam(Philips, 2011, p1).
n this report we will regard only the part of conveying the message of slam part
of the verb da'aa and not any other type of invitation or call. According to the
same
(conclusion) n this essay we strived to show the Da'ii that he must strive the
hardest to achieve the goal of the prophets of God and that to follow their
honorable footsteps is not a journey or a joy ride. The Da'ee needs to be
extremely patient with trials and tribulations and always have the example of the
Prophet Mohammad(Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) between his
eyes to be able to withstand all that pressure exerted by the shayateen of the
humans and jinn and those whom they were able to mislead.
