First Year
1stSemester May1995 – October 1995

AMT 111 Fundamentals of Aero Math- Basic mathematic s addition,


subtraction,
division and multiplication. Computation on areas of different
shapes.
Conversion from metric unit system to English unit system
and vice versa.

AMT 112 Theory of Flight- All about history of flight, different forces
acting on the
aircraft lift, drag, weight and thrust. Airfoil shape of the wing.
Basic parts of the aircraft. Fuselage ,wings, ailerons horizontal
stabilizer, vertical stabilizers and trim tabs. Bernaullis
principle, axis of an airplane in flight, flight control surfaces,
Laminar flow of airfoil.

AMT 113 Mechanical Drawing and Blueprint Reading- Basic


understanding of
blueprint reading, parts of blueprints and how to find
information, revision of the drawing scale etc. Topic will
consist of title block information, bill of material pages, notes
types of lines and symbols. Drawing exercises.

`AMT 115 Aircraft Materials, Construction and Repairs- Terms and


locations of major structural assembly components of fixed
wing and rotary aircraft. The purposed is to give the student
a basic foundation of knowledge and understanding of
particular areas with which they may contact in the process
of sheetmetal work. Example, fuselage, empennage, wings,
tailcones, pylons, flight control surfaces, spoilers, ailerons,
elevators, flaps etc. Structural members, stringers, longerons,
frames, formers and bulkheads. Also the basic knowledge
and understanding of the different alloys which make up the
metallic structures of the aircraft as well as the different
types of fastener that holds the structure together. The
following topics will be discussed. Aluminium alloys, still
alloys, titanium. Sheetmetal fastener solid rivets, blind rivets,
and bolts hiloks, Lockbolts,Jo-bolts, anchornuts, nutplates,
rivnuts. During shop work the student will learn actual repair
of different patches on fuselage skin lap and flush patch,
stringer and frame repair. Basic fabrication technique.
Forming techniques of materials. Bending of aluminium sheet
using the bend allowance and setback formulas. Use of form
blocks. Shrinker and joggling tools.The student will learn the
basics of laying out pattern, basic drilling techniques, rivet
installation and removal and screw extraction technique.
Riveting of rivets. Basic knowledge on how to use micrometer
calliper and vernier calliper. How to use the power tools like
riveter and air drills.

AMT 122 Aircraft Powerplant I (Reciprocating Engine) I- subject is all


about aircraft using reciprocating engine or also known as
piston engine. Components of Internal combustion engine,
the four stroke five event cycle. Compression ratio measure
of performance in an internal combustion engine. Ratio
between the volume of the cylinder when the piston is at the
bottom and top of its stroke. Different types of cylinders in
line, v configuration, horizontally opposite to each other or
radially around the crankshaft.
During laboratory and shop the student will physically
identify the different parts of internal combustion engine and
its function as well as how to maintain and service the
engine. Actual overhauling of engines.

adjectives, adverbs, determiners, direct and indirect speech,
nouns, relative clause, verb and verb tenses.

AMT 114 Aircraft Propellers – Basic overview of propeller history and its
function. Aircraft propellers- is a type of fan which transmits
power by converting rotational motion into thrust. It consists
of one or more blades about a central shaft and operates like
a rotating screw or wing. Archimedes screw. During
laboratory or shop the student will learn how to make a
wooden propeller.

AMT 121 Pneudraulics- Basic overview of hydraulic system, covering


its components and their functions system operation
including Hydraulic reservoir , reservoir pressurization
systems, heat exchanger, Left and right hydraulic systems,
engine driven pump and hydraulic oil servicing, landing
gears, flaps and slats rudder, ailerons. During laboratory or
shop the student will learn different kinds of hydraulic fluids,
hydraulic tubing and proper bending of tubes.

AMT 123 Aircraft Fuel and Fuel Systems- Basic overview of the fuel
system including its components and its function and system
operation including fuel tanks, fuel tanks vents, fuel system,
aircraft fuel troubleshooting, engine fuel feed, fuel quantity
indication system and defueling. Types of fuel system gravity
feed system and pressure feed systems. Monitoring of fuel
pressure, fuel flow, warning signals and tank quantity. Basic
fuels used by the piston type engine and jet engine. During
laboratory or shop the students will physically determine the
fuel of the different kinds of engine.

AMT 124 Aircraft Electricity and Ignition Systems- Basic overview of


electrical system, basic electricity, ohms law, It covers the
components, their function and system operation which
includes external power, integrated drive generators, AC
power DC power, and power distribution. Schematic diagram
of electrical system and reading of electrical symbols.

ENGL 121 Communication Arts II- develop the writing and speaking
process that will empower as student, professional and as a
career, includes essay, distinguishing oral and written style,
prepare oral and written messages.

AMT 211 Civil Air Regulations and Labor Laws- Provides understanding
of the civil air regulation of the Philippines including the
responsibilities of airman. Civil air regulation pertaining to
aircraft powerplant and airframe.

AMT 212 Economics of Air Transportation- Provides and understanding


of key issues and concepts and developments in air transport
economics, including aviation management and business
planning, regulatory and policy issues. Transport regulation,
ICAO/IATA. Aviation fees and charges.

AMT 213 Aircraft Powerplant II (Propeller & Jet Engines)- Basic overview
of Jet engines their function and engine operation. Different
types of Jet engines, History of Jet engines, Major components
of jet engines Air intake, Compressor or fan, Bypass duct
Shaft, diffuser section, hot section or combustion section,
turbine Afterburner, Exhaust nozzle, supersonic nozzle.
During laboratory or shop the students will practically identify
the basic components and function of gas turbine engines.

AMT 214 Helicopter, Principles and Operation- Provides basic overview


of helicopter
history, helicopter structural parts and its function. Principles
of rotary flight.
Rotors configuration, tail rotor, skids or wheels, Four forces
acting on helicopter, Controls, velocity, Torque, Anti torque
rotor, Gyroscopic precession, dissymmetry of lift, pendular
action, hovering.

AMT 216 Aircraft Instruments- Provides basic knowledge on different


kinds aircraft
Flight instruments which give the pilot information about
aircrafts attitude,
Airspeed and latitude. Basic flight instruments Altimeter,
Altitude indicator,
Airspeed indicator, Magnetic compass, heading indicator, turn
and bank
Indicator and turn coordinator, arrangement of flight
instruments in the
panel.

AMT 217 Human Relations- Foundation of human relation, What is


culture, defining , values, origins of culture, defining and
understanding self, how personality influence human relation.
Emotions and stress.
