AG -Did you know that a Mechanical Engineer probably had a hand in the creation of almost everything you own? -No matter your major, you're more than likely to encounter Mechanical Engineers or at least deal with the fruits of their labors directly at some point in your career path. -I am 2nd year mech.eng; intend to work there Thesis: Today I'm going to tell you a little bit about Mechanical Engineering and the path I'm taking to become one. Preview: first tell you what Mechanical Engineers do. Then,tell you came into being. Last, tell what become.

(The Colombia Encyclopedia) -a few historical ME contributors: Isaac Newton ben franklin, leo davinci were all important figures. Not formal but their work fit definition.

Body 3: Engineering Education- NDSU specific


No matter where you intend to get a degree, any engineering education is all about science and mathematics. -ME does it here too. All eng. Take 5 math 5 science; first two years of college. -According to, NDSU mechanical engineering graduate, You can expect to meet a lot of friends in your math and science classes that loved them so much that they decided to take the class again. This is in reference to the difficulty of the classes and is one of the many bits of sarcastic inside jokes we as engineers share. -NDSU research university. Two research: BMV & tech park. At the risk of sounding persuasive, for those of you who might be interested in engineering, I highly suggest you consider taking advantage of it yourself as it's given me a bunch of really cool opportunities as an undergrad.

Restated Thesis: -Today I've given you a peek inside the world of Mechanical Engineering. Main Point Summary: -First I gave you some background on what engineers are, then I gave you a bit of history, and last I talked about what it's like for me on the path to become one. Clincher: -Mechanical engineers are growing ever more important as the world continues to mechanize itself and will play a significant role in paving the way for future generations, literally and figuratively.
