/.1 General. %edical care facilities included in this section are those in +hich people receive ph#sical or medical treatment or care and +here persons ma# need assistance in respondin" to an emer"enc# and +here the period of sta# ma# e)ceed t+ent#=four hours. Bn addition to the requirements of section !< medical care facilities and 'uildin"s shall compl# +ith /.

(1) Hospitals - general purpose hospitals, psychiatric facilities, detoxification facilities At least 10 percent of patient bedrooms and toilets, and all public use and common use areas are required to be designed and constructed to be accessible. ( ) Hospitals and rehabilitation facilities that speciali!e in treating conditions that affect mobility, or units "ithin either that speciali!e in treating conditions that affect mobility All patient bedrooms and toilets, and all public use and common use areas are required to be designed and constructed to be accessible. (#) $ong term care facilities, nursing homes - At least %0 percent of patient bedrooms and toilets, and all public use and common use areas are required to be designed and constructed to be accessible. (&) Alterations to patient bedrooms. $.1 General. Bn addition to the requirements of section !< the desi"n of all areas used for 'usiness transactions +ith the pu'lic shall compl# +ith 0. $.2 Sales and Service Counters2 eller 3indo"s2 4n'or#ation Counters.

(1) ,n areas used for transactions "here counters ha(e cash registers and are pro(ided for sales or distribution of goods or ser(ices to the public, at least one of each type shall ha(e a portion of the counter "hich is at least #) in (61%mm) in length "ith a maximum height of #) in (61% mm) abo(e the finish floor. ,t shall be on an accessible route complying "ith &.#. 7uch counters shall include, but are not limited to, counters in retail stores, and distribution centers. *he accessible counters must be dispersed throughout the building or facility. ,n alterations "here it is technically infeasible to pro(ide an accessible counter, an auxiliary counter meeting these requirements may be pro(ided. At least one of each type of amenity (such as "ashers, dryers and similar equipment installed for the use of occupants) in each common area shall be accessible and shall be located on an accessible route to any accessible unit or sleeping accommodation. 01203*,45.
