STUDENT PERSPECTIVES Q1. Describe your perceptions ( thought, attitudes ) of the word management before you first studied MGT2010 management in your degree program? : Management is a thing that a person or a organization must have to achieve their target. : Management is about the arrangement of company and something like business strategic in operation system : Management it is about managing something or someone in order to get things well in order in right place and also in the right time : Management is a subject required for a person to become a manager.

Conclusion : It can conclude that they comes with their own perception depending on their knowledge before they get to learn management regarding about the word Management. As student before studying this course, the thought of the word management is about achieving target and time management in an organization or daily life. From a students perspective, it is important to managing something or someone in order to get things well in right place and also in right time so that they can gain the best benefits from it.

In what way has your perception changed after studying the course for 11 weeks? : After studying MGT2010 I start to change my decision making style and start to know the steps that should be taken in order to make an ethical decisions as an example , I start to plan before taking any action. : After studying this course , I realize that the management not only focus for industrial company but it covers wide range in other sector as well such as non-profitable organization , education and etc. : I felt that management is not about organizing only but it also includes and covers other aspect such as making decision, leadership, teamwork and also other related to management. : MGT is a complex subject. Based on what I have learned, it has a wide range of problems and many best solutions were made, so that the upcoming people do less mistake in managing anything.

Conclusion : As a conclusion , after studying the course for almost a semester, the word management in our perception did mean a lot in different ways. We manage to have a better ideas and view as to what management is before we studied MGT 2010, which is to attain organizational goals in an effective and efficient ways through planning, organizing, leading and controlling organizational resources. From what we learned in MGT 2010 now we manage to learn to become a better leader for an organization and become more wise in decision making and yet by becoming an excellent and skilled managers. It is also important for us to apply the management skill that we learn such as conceptual skill , technical skill and last but not least human skill.

How beneficial is knowledge in Management subject to your life as a student? Explain by giving two benefits only? : It benefits me in terms of achieving my aims. : It helps me to be more confidence in making decisions or becoming a leader. : Can make planning on related to budget, targeted goals, mission, vision of company. : Can give motivation to workers. : Teaches me how to manage my time to achieve good benefits from all aspects. : Teaches me to be a leader. : Plan my daily life. : Learn to manage people.

Conclusion: Management subjects give many benefits to students life. By studying management, student learn to improve communication skills, how to resolve the conflict at work when they finish theirs studies and how to become more efficient leaders. At the peak study of this subjects, students will have a better idea of how to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and make them accomplish their work tasks smoothly. Moreover, this subject will cover issues on leadership, accounting, economics, marketing, etc. These issues ensure that students will learn a little bit of everything pertaining to their careers. This general subjects will provide a foundation of knowledge that the learners can build up on with others courses later. Besides, Management also teach students with career advancement. Furthermore, it also very valuable because it helps students learning how to manage people and foremost learn how to manage themselves and their own time wisely. Management will set good examples in time management, productivity, and in other aspects that are essential in keeping their business running smoothly and efficiently.

Do you think you would like to be a manager after you have completed your studies? : Agree. Yes as a manager because I have the authority to manage the company. : Agree. Yes surely I want to become a manager because in management I have learnt many things that will be related back to a manager. : Agree. Yes I want to be a manager because manager do not just make decisions by his or her opinion but must know the effect of the result. : Disagree. It is not proper to be a manager straight away after completing studies. A person has to feel being managed before he or she can manage others.

Conclusion: From the students overall perspective, they agree to become a manager after completing the studies because they have a very bright future in management. They understand well this subject and hoping to get the best of the best in this industry. Besides, they also can develop their planning skills in their work place and real life. Furthermore, when it comes to a situation where as a manager need to make a decision and apply what was learnt in management, such as basic role of manager planning, leading, organizing, controlling and the skills such as technical, human and conceptual. However, is better to be a manager rather than non-manager so that we would be able to prepare ourselves to deal with any challenges or crisis that we might face in the higher level management by referring back to previous experiences.

In your opinion, what may be the greatest challenge faced by a manager in the work place? : Achieving the goals and the vision of the company and also to bring out the best from employees. : The greatest challenge is when it come to make a decision in a critical situation where a lot of thing we should put under consideration. : Managers are responsible if the staff does not committed with work as an example , manager have to be blamed if the task are not complete. : how to make every single staff happy doing their given job.

Conclusion : The greatest challenge face that we would face as a manager we need accomplish the goals and the vision of the company we work .The other challenge that we could faced during our managing period is to find the solution for the problem of the company and also sometimes involving our employee. As we all know that when it comes to the employee different people had different personality and individual satisfaction ,therefore it is not easy to deal with it when we need to satisfy all the employee without hurting their feelings . As for manager support from the employee are the most important things which without it the performance of the manager may effect itself and also the company.

Conclusion: There is about 100 percent of the students likes when it comes to deal with peoples. Peoples here means, the students with the employees and customers when he or she works later. When dealing with ideas, all of them likes it. This is a good condition for an organization to bring it to the next level because by useful ideas, it can make the company grow further. In things perspective, also all of them has a high interest. The students had been through many kinds of project regarding the management which will help them to choose best products and make profit from it.

Eric Ng tells that management it is about managing an organization which need experiences and knowledge. 2. Kamarulzaidi tells that management is something related to organizing or else can say managing thing in order. 3. Muhd Jafni tells that management is something that on how to manage works. 4. Mrs. Ida said that management is about managing the customers and employee. 5. Mrs. Maggie said that management is like how to manage people, how to operate company and handle human resource. 6. Justin perception in management word is something that related to company. 7. Leong said that management is about managing the company and bring it to the next level. 8. Mohd Redzuan tells that management is about how to rule the employee. 9. Senheng said that management is something like to manage business or like a multi-level marketing. 10. Vicky Chow said that she just knows management from the word,that is managing people, nothing more. 11. Mohd Kamal Khairi tells that management is a study on how to be a manager. 12. Syimir said that he has no idea at all about management study until he studied the subject. Conclusion : It is hard to understand the actual meaning before learning this subject. Even if someone understands, maybe it is any experience from workplace or family and friends. Many of the managers understand the word management means organizing, which is one of the concept learnt in this subject. When applying this concept, the managers should need the knowledge and experience to bring the organization to the next level. Other than that, management is related to staffs or employees. To be exact, it is how to manage employees to work things done in effective manner.

Q2. In what way has your perception changed after studying the first course? 1. Eric Ng tells that management changed his view by knowing management has bigger scope in organizing company. 2. Kamarulzaidi felt that management didnt only involve with works, but also in daily life n family background. 3. Muhd Jafni think that management not only about on how to manage work but it comes with management skills. 4. Mrs.Ida learns from previous manager is about planning and organizing for the company. 5. Mrs. Maggie tells that studying management is more on theoretical which use theory to realize how to handle work but practically management is same. 6. After Justin studied the course, I realize that management is something like to develop and organizing the company. 7. Leong tells that studying management is all about theory but practically in the real life it is totally different but of course we learn something to make a wise decision. 8. Mohd Redzuan said that it is more about managing not only rule the employees but also personal life and company. 9. Then, I think management is about how to organizing my work in a company which was told by Senheng 10. Vicky said that she actually started to understand when she started to work. It is all about making a good plan, how to control staff and updating every staff about any latest updates. 11. Khairi states that management is mainly about communication between managers and their staffs. 12. By studying management, Syimir understands how to manage his business better by doing plans.

Conclusion : By conclusion, after the managers studied management, they felt that management had a bigger scope in organizing company which covers all aspects of management function, organizational performance, decision making and others that related to management. From a manager perspective, management is all about theory but practically in the real life it is totally different but of course we learn something to make a wise decision.

Q3. How beneficial is knowledge on Management to your work then as executive/manager? Could you please explain two benefits. 1) 1st benefit : Efficiency. In management, efficiency of the staff is very important to improve their service. nd 2 benefit : Effective. In every plan that were made, it has to be an effective plan. 1st benefit : Higher position. If the person has management skills good enough, he can grow higher position than a normal staff. nd 2 benefit : Learn different things. A manager learns different things and has a better experience than sales or other staff. st 1 benefit : Expand. By applying management, it can expand the business better. 2nd benefit : Controlling. In management, he learnt how to control staff. 1st benefit : Taught me to be a better leader. 2nd benefit : Teach me on communication skills to interact with other people in different organization. st 1 benefit : Having clear goals and knowing the ideal position I want people to hold. 2nd benefit : Increase my organizing performance. 1st benefit: The knowledge help me to overcome problems among my staff such as time management and social life. nd 2 benefit: I get more improvement in my communication skill so that I get the confidence in handling business partners, customers and others. st 1 benefit: Can improve the relationship between customer. Conclusion: Management particularly benefits those who manages people, and those who wishes to inspire themselves and their teams to higher performance such as manager. Managers have become one of the most important determining factors in the success of any functioning organization. A vital challenge that any enterprise face nowadays is to constantly update and sharpen the skills of managers so that he or she can counter the newest forms of challenges in todays precarious, unpredictable market. Manager found that management helped them plan and organize their work properly, making crisis management and efficient allocation easy tasks to pursue. Besides that, its also helps manager to improve three management skills that is conceptual, technical and human skills. Management is also said to have been a source of stability, especially in dealing with rather difficult and disgruntled employees, and to get them back on track to achieve their goals as well as those of the organization. Furthermore, management helps them in communication skill which they will use to deals with customers effective and efficiently.

Conclusion: As a conclusion, only 33% of the managers prefers to be executive. The advantage by being an executive is they have the power of handling the company by themselves. But, the dark side is with great power, comes great responsibility. Other than them, they prefer to be manager because executive it is a high position job and they would not be able to carry the burden of the responsibility in an organization. Moreover, they want to develop their skills in managing people, ideas and things who prefer to be manager.

Q5. In your opinion, what may be the greatest challenge faced by a manager in the workplace? 1. Handling customer is the greatest challenge faced by Eric Eg. 2. Competition from other company and behavioral of the employee are the greatest challenge faced by Kamarul Zaidi. 3. Muhd Jafni said that when comes to dealing with underperforming employees. 4. Miss. Ida tells the greatest challenge are to handle the employee and the customer . 5. Miss. Maggie tells the greatest challenge is to handle the employees. All person does not have the same felling. 6. Economical situation is the greatest challenge for Justin. 7. Leong tells that the greatest challenge faced was when the economy is down and had to think solution for the problem. 8. Mohd Redzuan said that the problem occurs when facing the employee and customer. 9. My things in the shop goes missing and lost. To stabilize the economic, I must pay by myself. That was told by Senheng. 10. Vicky said, the challenging part is the staffs attitude. 11. Khairi also said it is the staffs attitude. 12. Syimir says that how to improve sales is the greatest challenge so far.

Conclusion : The greatest challenge that a manager would face in real life during working time is achieving a stretch goal it is when the organization we as a manager is responsible for something as an example when performing a business process , supporting other organization , developing a new product and getting new customers . There are goals associated with our objectives, and if our organization is aggressive then those goals require more than the typical amount of effort. Its going to take some careful planning for us to figure out how to apply it to our organizations people and resources to achieve an aggressive goal .Besides that a manager will also face when we had to respond to a crisis . Sometimes no matter how mush planning we do , things will go wrong . Planning is a part of managing, but perhaps more important is a managers ability to change plans on the fly in response to changing conditions. When a crisis hits, we have to be able to deal with it calmly, quietly and without being overwhelmed by stress.

Conclusion: There is about 70 percent of the managers interviewed likes when it comes to deal with peoples. Peoples here means, the staffs that works under their management. Very small portion of them is less favorable in dealing with the staffs. This is because their behavioral at work place. Maybe, this situation happens because of inadequate relationship between the manager and staff. When dealing with ideas, almost all of them likes it. This is a good condition for an organization to bring it to the next level because by useful ideas, it can make the company grow further. In things perspective, also most of them has a high interest. When dealing with things such as product, many of the managers has no dislikes. The manager always find the new way to produce good product so that can they compete with other company and be the leading company. 13
