Was ist der erste Schritt, um Neuheiten zu entwickeln? Eine Idee. Danach folgen viele kleine Etappen: Plne, Experimente, Entwrfe und schlielich das fertige Produkt, das auf der Messe prsentiert wird. Der Weg dorthin dauert oft viele Monate. Und dabei entstehen interessante Geschichten, die sich lohnen, erzhlt zu werden. Unter dem neuen Konzept Innovations@DOMOTEX konnten die Aussteller zur DOMOTEX 2014 erstmals Neuheiten einreichen und einer fachkundigen Jury vorlegen. Die Produkte sollten innovativ sein im Sinne von ideenreich, frisch, zeitgem und kreativ und in einer der folgenden Rubriken berdurchschnittlich abschneiden: Relevanz fr die jeweiligen Zielgruppen, technologische Neuerungen, Designkonzept und Qualitt. Die 62 ausgewhlten Neuheiten spiegeln die Essenz dieser Messe wider sie sind die Innovations@ DOMOTEX 2014. Wir wnschen Ihnen viel Freude beim Entdecken und Erleben. What is the first step when creating something new? An idea. This is followed by many small steps: plans, experiments, drafts and finally the finished product, which is presented at the trade fair. The journey to this goal often takes many months. Along the way interesting stories emerge, stories that deserve to be told. Innovations@DOMOTEX is a new concept that enabled exhibitors at DOMOTEX 2014 to submit their innovations for presentation to an expert jury. The products must be innovative which means: full of ideas, fresh, contemporary and creative and score high in one of the following categories: relevance for the target group, technological innovation, design and quality. The 62 new products that were chosen reflect the essence of this trade fair. They are Innovations@DOMOTEX 2014. We hope you enjoy discovering and experiencing them. Wenn dieser Spruch das Motto des Konzepts zur Innovations@DOMOTEX 2014 darstellt, knnte man sagen, dass dieser Guide der dazugehrige Kurzgeschichtenband ist. Dieser Guide ist nicht nur ein Wegweiser, der die ausgewhlten 62 Neuheiten aus vier Produktkategorien Elastische Bodenbelge, Teppichbden, Moderne handgefertigte Teppiche sowie Parkett und Laminatfubden vorstellt. Er gibt auch einen Einblick in das vielfltige Begleitprogramm, das vom 11. bis 14. Januar 2014 in Hannover stattfindet und Bodenthe men von einem neuen Blickwinkel aus betrachten lsst. Zum ersten Mal tauschen sich in vier Round-Table-Gesprchen Experten im Diskurs ber aktuelle Fragen zur Innovationskraft des Bodendesigns aus. Und wer sich vor Ort von Architekten und Designern durch das auergewhnliche Ausstellungsdesign fhren lassen will, kann das bei einer der acht exklusiven Fhrungen tun. If this motto expresses the idea that shows the way for Innovations@DOMOTEX 2014, then it could be said that this guide is the accompanying book of short stories. This guide is not only a directory presenting the chosen 62 new products in four categories resilient floor coverings, textile floor coverings, modern 6 hand-made carpets, and parquet and laminate floorings. It is also an insight into the diverse programme of additional events that takes place in Hanover from 11 to 14 January 2014 and makes it possible to view flooring topics from a new angle. For the first time experts will exchange ideas in four round-table discussions about current issues concerned with the innovativeness of flooring design. And everyone who would like to be guided by architects and designers through the remarkable exhibition architecture can join one of eight exclusive tours. Eine sechskpfige Jury hat die Produkte fr die Innovations@DOMOTEX 2014 unter folgenden Aspekten ausgewhlt: Relevanz fr die verschiedenen Zielgruppen (ideenreich, frisch, zeitgem), technologische Neuerungen, Designkonzept und Qualitt. Das Ergebnis reprsentiert die Essenz der DOMOTEX 2014 und zeigt dem Besucher, was er gesehen haben muss. A six-person jury chose the products for Innova tions@DOMOTEX 2014 according to the following criteria: relevance for various target groups (creative, fresh, contemporary), technological innovation, design and quality. The results are the distilled essence of DOMOTEX 2014 and show visitors what they really should see.

Stefan Diez Juryvorsitz/Industrie- und Produktdesigner/ Stefan Diez Office Chairman of the jury/Product and industrial designer/Stefan Diez Office Der vielfach ausgezeichnete Designer lehrt an der HFG Karlsruhe und entwirft unter anderem Mbel, Tischzubehr, Geschirr, Taschen und Ausstellungsdesigns fr namhafte Firmen. The winner of numerous awards, Stefan Diez teaches at the design university HFG Karlsruhe. He designs, among other things, furniture, tableware, dinner services, bags and exhibitions for well-known companies. Manfred Birkenstock Messebeirat DOMOTEX und Vorstand Copa eG Member of trade fair advisory council / board member of Copa eG Seit 2001 ist Manfred Birkenstock geschftsfhrender Vorstand der Copa eG, der fhrenden Bodenbelags-Grohandelskooperation. Jngst initiierte er zudem die Teppich-Imagekampagne Teppich & Du. Since 2001 Manfred Birkenstock has been a managing board member of Copa eG, the leading wholesale cooperative for floor coverings. He recently initiated the carpet image campaign Teppich & Du (Carpet and You). Susanne Brandherm Innenarchitektin/Brandherm + Krumrey Interior Architecture Interior designer/Brandherm + Krumrey Interior Architecture Die Grnderin von Brandherm + Krumrey Interior Architecture ist zudem Lehrbeauftragte der Hochschule Trier, Referentin und Mitglied verschiedener Gremien. The co-founder of Brandherm + Krumrey Interior Architecture, Susanne Brandhelm also teaches at the University of Trier and is active as a speaker and member of various committees.
Stefan Heinze Chefredakteur Boden Wand Decke Editor-in-chief of Boden Wand Decke Stefan Heinze, seit 1996 Chefredakteur, ist Kenner der nationalen und internationalen Bodenbelagsszene und hat den Kongress Roomy Zukunftsforum Boden und Raum mitinitiiert. Stefan Heinze, editor-in-chief since 1996, is an expert on the national and international floor coverings business and also the co-initiator of the industry congress Roomy Future Forum for Floor and Room. Kirstin Ollech Fachredakteurin Schner Wohnen Specialist journalist and editor for Schner Wohnen Nach beruflichen Stationen bei Arcade, Neues Wohnen und Brigitte schreibt die Redakteurin schon seit 2004 fr Schner Wohnen. Seit 2012 leitet sie die Online-Plattform Schner WohnenKollektion. In Halle 6 zeigt die zentral gelegene Sonderflche alle von der Jury ausgewhlten und kreativ inszenierten Produkte aus den Bereichen Elastische Bodenbelge und Teppichbden. Die von Jrgen Mayer H. gestaltete Flche ist auch Ausgangspunkt fr die Innovations@ DOMOTEX Guided Tours, exklusive Experten-Fhrungen, die zweimal pro Tag stattfinden (s.S. 67). Im gleichen Areal bietet das Vortragsprogramm Innovations@DOMOTEX Talks auerdem spannende Diskussionen zur zuknftigen Entwicklung von Bodenbelgen (s.S. 55). Bei einer belegten Focaccia oder einer Latte Macchiato knnen sich die Besucher hier auerdem im stylischen Bistro-Bereich von den Innovationen inspirieren lassen und den Austausch mit Geschftspartnern suchen. In Hall 6 a dedicated area in a central location presents all the creatively displayed innovations chosen by the jury from the two fields of resilient and textile floor coverings. The display area, designed by Jrgen MayerH., is also the starting point for Innovations@ DOMOTEX guided tours, exclusive tours given by experts which take place twice daily (see p. 67). In the same area the Innovations@DOMOTEX talks programme will be held, featuring fascinating discussions on the future development of floor coverings (see p. 55). In the stylish bistro zone visitors can also take inspiration from the innovations and exchange views with business partners over a filled focaccia or a latte macchiato.

This carpet is made from bicycle inner tubes and polypropylene. The inner tubes are made into a woven structure by hand. In some places visible numbering even indicates the origin and age of the tubes thus telling a story.

Diskutiert wird, inwieweit durch frhzeitiges Einbeziehen der Planer Produktentwicklungsprozesse zielfhrend gesteuert werden knnen. Dabei stellen sich Fragen wie: Welche Rollen- und Kooperationsmodelle sind denkbar? Und: Inwieweit lassen sich die Kompetenzen von Planern und Industrie mit Produktentwicklung und Vermarktungsstrategien verzahnen? The products developed by the industry do not always meet the requirements of the target group. Architects, interior designers and planners would like products which, on the one hand, are reduced to essentials, and on the other hand have the status of objects that give meaning to spaces. Eine Frage in diesem Zusammenhang wird sein: Welche positiven Referenzen gibt es hier bereits und welche Mglichkeiten lassen sich daraus fr die Bodenbelagsbranche ableiten? Architects and interior design ers judge a product or material according to the same aesthetic criteria as a building. This is also a question of authenticity, with a call for genuine materials. And at the same time a product is seen as particularly attractive when it exploits its material qualities, plays with them or uses them to surprise.
