Fortunately the days in which the only choices you had were classic but short-lived incandescent lamps or economical but much too bulky uorescent lamps or brilliant but much too expensive halogen lamps are long since gone.

Light versatile and functional. Today it is possible to save enormous amounts of electricity with energy-saving lamps that look like ordinary light bulbs and t in the same holders. Modern uorescent lamps have become more compact but they are now also brighter, kinder to the environment and offer better colour rendering. Entrance and lounge areas should appear in a friendly welcoming light to give a positive impression. The lighting adds to a feeling of well-being among guests and provides a perfect view of the area with no glare. Successful background lighting. Dimmable compact uorescent lamps are used in downlights to provide the background lighting. For arches or transmitting ceiling areas we recommend LUMILUX T5 uorescent lamps operated by dimmable QUICKTRONIC INTELLIGENT ECG. This is complemented by indirect wall luminaires equipped with slim HALOLINE mains voltage halogen lamps or OSRAM DULUX T/E compact uorescent lamps operated by appropriate dimmable ECG. Centrally located recessed ceiling luminaires with DECOSTAR IRC lamps in a linear arrangement are suitable for direct lighting for concentrated work.

Modern lighting control. Light gives pleasure.

The two essential ingredients for perfect restaurant lighting are atmosphere and zoning. Atmosphere is created by sensitive nuanced light; zoning with light creates cosy areas within the restaurant. Overall, the lighting should be subtle and reserved but walkways, service zones and other activity areas should be more brightly lit. Tables and other seating areas call for a relaxing atmosphere. The light should be bright enough to enable menus to be read in comfort and for peoples faces to be easily seen, but subdued enough to create a sense of privacy in which to enjoy the meal. A seductive invitation. The entrance to a restaurant should have warm but bright light to entice people in. This can best be achieved with vertical arrangements of LINEARlight LED modules and indirect light from compact uorescent lamps or POWERBALL HCI highintensity discharge lamps with wattages of less than 70 W. Vertical lighting at the entrance and directly where guests are welcomed emphasises the height and generous proportions of the room. Light can also be used for other spatial effects. For example, niches, alcoves, projections and recesses in walls and ceilings can be given greater prominence with coloured light. Characteristic modern distinctive lighting is also important for bars, pubs and cafs. Lighting must be used to create an atmosphere that is in keeping with the particular establishment but which also gives it its own style. The lighting for an Irish pub needs to be relaxing, whereas a cocktail bar calls for more sophisticated mood lighting. Stylish bar lighting. There are various creative lighting solutions for bars. The bar will appear to hover if the lower half is lit for example with LUMILUX T5 uorescent lamps connected to QUICKTRONIC INTELLIGENT ECG.
