Link aggregation allows you to take 2 physical, ethernet ports, and join them together to form 1 virtual, ethernet port. This means that you will have redundancy in case 1 of the physical ports, or cables has an issue. t also allows you to have more bandwidth for the ip address that you assign to the virtual, ethernet port than you could get from 1 physical port.
