the USA and Canada. By Ismail Abdullahi, Leif a!ber"

This study is about the descriptive research article, where by the researchers Ismail Abdullahi and Leif Kajberg was discussed the international issues in Library and Information Science education focus at the schools in urope, the !SA and "anada# The subject of the study is Library and Information Studies and the subject selection is international issues# According to this article, Internationali$ation of Library and Information Science %LIS& education is important and critically necessary# 'ia internationali$ation, library and information professionals will be able to understand the global information access and need to promote systems of communication among people throughout the world# This research article are not clearly stated their purpose of the study, but through reading the purposes of this study is to e(amines and analy$es the inclusion of international issues in library and information science education and the goals is to increase attention in sharing of e(perience, discussion of standards and methods for assuring )uality, agreement on methods for evaluation, accreditation and certification, setting the problems of e)uivalence and reciprocity of )ualifications, and co*operative approaches in the distance education field# The research problems, procedures, and findings are duly influenced by the researchers+ institutional affiliation, beliefs, values, and theoretical orientation# The study was done followed the appropriate and suitable procedures and methodology# The researchers e(press more in a positive bias in describing the subject of the study rather than a negative bias# The study is only

Research Article review focused at specific area at America, but through this research it also will help all librarians from others librarian worldwide get the ideas in order to have cooperation together and going to participate in international data flow and e(changes# The result is it will re)uire a greater degree of international 0nowledge and sophisticated# It necessary to have internationali$ation of Library and Information Science %LIS& student with other country in order to understand the global information access and to promote systems communications among people throughout the world# In this article, the researcher ma0es a comparison about the program and curriculum between three institutions# Through this comparison it was showed that all of these institutions Library and Information Science %LIS& have the same opinion and agree to have international between other countries in the world, and also have a barriers which is to have a greater awareness of the international community and increasing the international awareness for the international student# The literature review section of the report is not sufficiently comprehensive because not included a research objectives, but it was include with studies that relevant to the problem and already defines and clarify the problem issues# Literature review is important in order to inform the reader about the wor0 or study and to convey the reader what 0nowledge and ideas have been established on the topic of the study# The researchers are 0nowledgeable in the subject area and can convince the audience because their research is used and refer to the other related wor0 which is also discussed about the same issues# This article was stated the successful of internationali$ation of Library and Information Science %LIS& education and organi$ation of the 1ean of !niversity of 2ittsburgh as a role model for have an international students program# This was showed that is so crucial and important for the readers to e(changing the student in the

Research Article review international level in order to e(change the information and 0nowledge and also in data sharing with other country around the world# This research article did not provide research hypotheses and objectives# This was most probably because this researcher was not aware of the importance of the hypothesis, or their supervisor did not instruct them to prepare research hypotheses# 4ypothesis encourages researchers to crystalli$e thin0ing about possible relations between variables# It encourages researchers to thin0 about the implications of supported or rejected findings, and guide the direction of the study# 35 )uestions were providing in this article but not all )uestions are clearly stated and some )uestions mi(es with data and e(planation# The researchers ma0e a convincing case that the )uestions were important to the study# It is because through all of the )uestions that have been given to the respondents, the researcher can find the comments and opinions# The study did not give the high )uality research paper to the readers because the limited e(planation# The outcomes that they get are very useful because the respondents who answered the )uestions are from the professional level in Library and Information Science %LIS&# ach variable in the study are clearly defined and they measure the

variable in consistent way and also they defined by using a number of percentage for generating the data# ach variable was e(plained using figure in the table according the result of the )uestion that they have done#

The research design for this study was the survey method using the )uestionnaire# The researchers conduct survey through )uestionnaires in order to collect information from respondent# A survey instrument was developed and tested that would be applicable to library and information professionals in the !SA, "anada and urope# The

Research Article review )uestionnaire was developed based on practices and programs of the !SA, "anadian and uropean Library and Information Science %LIS& Schools# A )uestionnaire containing 35 )uestions, which consisted of several parts, was tested and sent to 75 library and information science programs in the !SA, "anada, and urope# The 65 selected

programs from the !SA and "anada were all accredited by the ALA and are members of the Association for Library and Information Science ducation %ALIS &# Similarly most of the other 65 programs from urope are members of uropean Association for Library ducation and Research % !"LI1&# In designing the uropean part of the study, an

attempt was made to carefully select a group of schools for the survey that represent different 0inds of mother institutions which is universities, universities of applied sciences, institutes of culture and so on, wide institutions with a limited volume of research or without the possibilities of conducting research as well as Library and Information Science %LIS& schools of differing si$es and with varying academic profiles#

8rom the observation it was showed that this research article is used appropriate statistical techni)ues and they used it correctly# This result has shown that most of the Library and Information Science %LIS& programs in the !SA, "anada and urope are

e)ually interested in international issues in library and information science education# The result has further shown that most of the cooperation among programs in international education is e)ually maintained by formal and informal agreements# So it was showed that, the results of the data analysis support the researchers conclude are by the findings of the study# Researchers also provide reasonable e(planation of the findings# The e(planation of the finding is, currently there are no standards for inclusion of

Research Article review international issues in library and information science curricula# In the !SA and "anadian Library and Information Science %LIS& school world, there is a solid and long* established tradition of having international students in the classrooms# In urope,

student mobility between Library and Information Science %LIS& academic institutions has really gained ground and )uite a few cross*country lin0s e(ist between uropean

Library and Information Science %LIS& Schools# :ut partnerships that go beyond mobility projects, joint study visits, regular information e(change, contacts at conferences, etc, are few# The researchers also draw reasonable implication for practice from the finding# This study is concluded with the hope that Library and Information Science %LIS& programs in the !SA, "anada and urope will proceed from the present position characteri$ed as it is by lac0 of coordinated and effective programs of international studies to future oriented programs that are clearly defined in the mission, goals and objectives of the schools# Internationali$ing means having a program in which faculty, staff and students maintain a global view and an appreciation of the importance of the field internationally without which library and information science studies will be incomplete# 8urthermore, this study is concluded with some recommendations based from the research procedures#

In a conclusion, this article research is god but still have some wea0nesses which is some of the research process do not include in this research article# The important thing in article research is should state clearly the purpose of the research, but this article research do not provide the purpose of research# This article also do not include with the hypotheses and objectives# A hypothesis is a preliminary or tentative e(planation or postulate by the researcher of what the researcher considers the outcomes of an
