Selecting the Optimum Monitors for Dis playing Medical Images

Do you get refined rendering of subtle shadings ? Display Differs Depending Upon Grayscale Tones
Standard monitors for general office use have grayscale tone characteristics
which may vary even between the same models. In the medical field,
monitors must display medical images accurately and consistently. Digital
Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Part 14 specifies a
display function for grayscale which is now used as a standard to adjust
the grayscale tone characteristics of monitors used in the medical field.

Comparison of Brightness Stabilization

At startup or upon wakeup, EIZO’s patented drift correction function

quickly stabilizes the brightness of the MX240W.
Standard Monitor
This brightness stabilization function is EIZO patented technology (Japan Patent
Numbers 3171808 and 3193315, US Patent Number 6188380).

Visual Differences in Brightness Stabilization

Startup Stabilization

Standard Monitor
The MX240W has a high level of visibility in the area around the spine. A standard monitor starts off dark, gradually becomes brighter and
exceeds its target figure before finally stabilizing after 120 minutes.

Startup Stabilization

With a standard monitor, dark gradation ends suddenly, whereas with the
MX240W, dark gradations are displayed fully and accurately. The MX240W brightness stabilizes right after startup.
