Enclosure 1 to Rule Variation TCHU/2013/04 Amendments to Part A of the Rules for the Classification of Pleasure Yachts Part A, Ch 1, Sec 2

The following requirements either supersede those indicated in the Rules with the same number or are new. The additions are underlined and deletions stricken through.

PART A: CLASSIFICATION AND SURVEYS CHAPTER 1: PRINCIPLES OF CLASSIFICATION AND CLASS NOTATIONS SECTION 2: CLASSIFICATION NOTATIONS Ch 1, Sec 2, [6.1.2], [6.8] (NEW) Reference in item [6.1.2] is modified and a new item [6.8] is added as follows: 6 Additional class notations 6.1 General 6.1.1 An additional class notation expresses the classification of additional equipment or specific arrangement, which has been requested by the Interested Party. The assignment of such an additional class notation is subject to compliance with additional Rule requirements, which are detailed in Part E. 6.1.2 The different additional class notations which may be assigned to a yacht are listed in [6.2] to [6.8] [6.6], according to the category to which they belong. OMISSIS 6.8 Propulsion plant (HYBRID PROPULSION ()) 6.8.1 (1/9/2013) The additional class notation HYBRID PROPULSION () is assigned to yachts whose propulsion plant consists of two or more sources of power (i.e. electric motor and internal or external combustion engines) complying with the requirements of Pt E, Ch 1, Sec 7. The notation is completed, in brackets, with the indication of the functional mode, i.e.:

Parallel mode; Electric motor and shaft generator mode; Other modes, to be defined. OMISSIS

Amendments to Part E of the Rules for the Classification of Pleasure Yachts Part E, Ch 1, Sec 7

PART E: ADDITIONAL CLASS NOTATIONS CHAPTER 1 ASSIGNMENT OF ADDITIONAL CLASS NOTATIONS

A new Section 7 is added as follows:

SECTION 7 PROPULSION PLANT (HYBRID PROPULSION ()) 1 General 1.1 Application 1.1.1 (1/9/2013) The additional class notation HYBRID PROPULSION (...) is assigned in accordance with Pt A, Ch 1, Sec 2, [6.1.1] to yachts whose propulsion plant consists of two or more sources of power (i.e.: electric motors and internal or external combustion engines) in compliance with the requirements given in this Section. 1.1.2 (1/9/2013) The notation is completed, in brackets, with the indication of the functional mode, i.e.: Parallel mode; Electric motor and shaft generator mode; Other modes, to be defined. 2 General 2.1 2.1.1 (1/9/2013) The different sources of power may be coupled by clutch or other mechanical or hydraulic couplings to the gear box or to the shaft lines in a manner such that it delivers the rated power in parallel mode and/or independently. 3 Applicable requirements 3.1 3.1.1 (1/9/2013) For the electric propulsion plant reference is to be made, as applicable, to Pt C, Ch 2. Sec 14, of the Rules for the classification of ships. Special consideration may be given under the application of that section, to electrical system which may be considered as "auxiliary propulsion system" and which may be engaged and disengaged without affect in any operative condition the functionality of the primary propulsion system (i.e.: internal combustion engines). 3.1.2 (1/9/2013) For rotating machines reference is to be made to Pt C, Ch 2. Sec 4, of the Rules for the classification of ships. In particular, for "auxiliary electrical propulsion system" the same consideration given in [3.1.1] applies. 3.1.3 (1/9/2013) A power management system is to be provided, which in general is to comply with the requirements given in Pt C, Ch 2. Sec 14, [ 4.2] of the Rules for the classification of ships and the relevant automation system is to comply with the requirements for the assignment of the additional class notation AUT-UMS (Y) given in Section 1.
