LAURA BOARD MEETING REPORT MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2013 LIMA B P O ELKS CLUB LIMA, OHIO 12:30 P.M.

1. Attending today's meeting were Joe McMichael, Mike and Peggy Krick, Bob Prater, Amber Horner and Tom Bowman. 2. Amber announced she has become a Grandmother again and this time to a six pound plus, 19 inches plus long baby girl named "Lilly". After five Grandsons she finally gets to spoil a girl. 3. Helena email she was unable to attend today's meeting due to illness. 4. Amber reported that Dianna is in Florida and that her home failed to, sell as yet. 5. Amber provided the library with the following: Fall 2013 issue of "Flying Saucer Digest", and the Oct 2013 issue of the "Mufon UFO Journal". 6. A new series on the Discovery Channel was reported and is titled "Unexplained". Reports are that it is worth watching. It contained subjects on UFOs, etc. 7. Amber reported she had seen a TV documentary on the killing of JFK and that he may have been shot by a U.S. Security Agent riding in the car immediately behind the Presidents. She said the film reported that when the President's car began receiving fire that the Agent pulled his gun and a surge by the car caused the gun to fire. She reported the Warren Commission withheld the information. 8. Mike Krick will provide the program for November titled "KGB Files". Mike indicated it contains UFO reports as well as other interesting info. 9. Pres. Bob will provide another of his entertaining quizzes on old TV shows.

10. Pres, Bob informed us that the Election of Officers is due and should be held at the Nov. meeting. All present felt Bob should remain the Pres until all us other's retire. Prepare to make your nomination in Nov. Anyone not wishing to be nominated should so inform the group at the meeting. 11. Amber provided the following Financial Report: Checking Acct. New membership cards are to be updated and ready for issue. 13. Amber will obtain and send a card to Anna Hall's family to notify them of the $40. 00 donation made in her name by Pres Bob and his wife, Marcia. 14. Tom suggested the Board meet in Dec at the "Old City Prime American Steak House restaurant for a holiday change only. Pres Bob said he wanted first to check the lunch menu for pricing. He wanted, as did all to be sure we could eat for less than $10.00 for lunch. No word has been received as of the issue date of this report. 15. Tom asked if anyone would object if he submitted his Food Article he writes for the Civil War News for issue in the UFO news also. No objections were noted however a name for the article was discussed and not resolved, any ideas? The Civil War News calls the article the "CHOWLINE". Suggestions were made such as "Flying Saucer", "Space Junk", "SETI Sitting" , we'll keep working on it. 16. Next Club Meeting, and final for 2013 is Wed Nov 20 @ 7:00 p.m. Final Board meeting for the year is Monday, December 2nd at a location to be announced. Streaking rapidly across the skies, it resembles a flying saucer from a sci-fi movie. But this is no spacecraft piloted by aliens invading the Earth... it is the latest state-of-the-art drone being tested by the US Navy. Sleek, silver and capable of travelling at subsonic speeds, the bat-winged X-47B is a 1billion test aircraft developed to help the US develop the next generation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Instead of being piloted by remote control, the X-47B flies autonomously using state-of-theart GPS navigation technology and flight control software. Commanders will program the drones on-board computer with a mission - for example, spying on or bombing a target - and it will follow these orders to navigate to its destination unless a human pilot on the ground steps in. The X-47B drone is the first designed to operate an aircraft carrier. These extraordinary photographs were taken as it took off and touched down from the warship Theodore Roosevelt as it sailed in the ocean on Sunday. Launching drones from carriers would mean the US did not need permission from other countries to use their bases.

A hook attached to the fuselage of the aircraft snags an arrestor cable on deck to bring it to a stop. The jet fighter-sized machines, developed by defense company Northrop Grumman, weigh six tons and have a range of 2,100miles. Senior US naval chiefs have described the miraculous X-47B as a glimpse of the future. The development could signal the end of Top Gun-style piloted air combat missions. They will be able to provide round-the-clock surveillance, gather intelligence and carry out lethal missile attacks without putting personnel at risk. The move to expand the UAV fleet comes amid growing criticism of Americas use Predator and Reaper drones against terrorists in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen. It is not yet clear whether the drone will be able to open fire without explicit authorization from its controller. The Pentagon has vowed that no UAV would be able to decide when to attack humans. But critics have warned the introduction of artificial intelligence into military weapons systems is a step towards the development of autonomous killer robots. The X-47B is expected to be in service by 2020.

From Near Sydney, Australia: A BELMONT family said they were left speechless by a UFO they photographed in the sky over Lake Macquarie on Friday night. And a second family, which saw what appears to have been the same object from their vantage point at Valentine are also unable to give a rational explanation for their sighting. The accompanying photograph enhanced by the Newcastle Herald for publication shows a bright row of white lights along what looks, to this writer, like the leading edge of a boomerang. With UFO watchers already clamoring over the arrival in our solar system of Comet ISON which NASA expects to peak between November 28 and Boxing Day* the Lake Macquarie photo is bound to generate wide interest. The sightings began at about 8.50pm on Friday as Richard Hardy and his wife Tina were walking west along Maude Street, Belmont, on the eastern side of the Pacific Highway, when they saw the brightest blue light you have ever seen in the sky to their north. At first I thought it was a flare, it was such a solid glowing blue. It came in from the north-west then slowly descended, and then it changed quickly from blue to red. Then it shot straight up for a couple of seconds and my wife reached for her phone camera and it changed back to blue then shot over towards the south-west. I rang my son who was at home on the other side of the highway and he saw it go blue then red then blue again and eventually disappear way over the other side of the lake towards Dora Creek or Toronto.

Herald journalist Jim Kellar also saw the object at the same time for about 15minutes on Friday night as he sat on the verandah of his house at Valentine. He saw it as red, and turning to yellow, and moving low on the horizon to the south-west, where it disappeared and re-appeared, moving faster at times than aircraft would appear at the same distance. Mr. Kellar was reluctant to admit seeing it and the Hardy family described themselves as highly skeptical. What surprised Mrs. Hardy as much as anything was the color of the image she captured on her iPhone4S. It was blue when I photographed it but white when I looked at it in the photo, Mrs. Hardy said.

Paranormal Radio Host Art Bell Mysteriously Disappears From SiriusXM

The much ballyhooed return of paranormal radio host Art Bell ended in just six weeks.

The master of UFOs, fringe science and conspiracy theory is apparently at odds with SiriusXM over live streaming for his millions of fans. The 68-year-old co-creator of the hugely successful "Coast to Coast AM" retired from his full-time role of master of the macabre in 2003, after 15 years. Over that span, he went from mainstream talk to a highly successful foray into unexplained phenomena, turning the syndicated juggernaut into the most listened to overnight show in North America. The late night show's reins were comfortably taken over by the popular George Noory. This past July, SiriusXM Satellite Radio announced that Bell would launch a new, live, nightly call-in show, "Art Bell's Dark Matter," in September. But since Bell's new program Sept. 16 premiere, there have been, according to Bell on his website, many problems with streaming his show.
"Many thousands of my listeners came on board when it began but they have fallen off because of that reason," Bell said. "It's a systemic problem. For a caller-driven show like this one, speaking only to people on cell phones in moving vehicles is somewhat difficult.

"The show also is being pirated, oh you have no idea. We are all over the Net right now, from YouTube to a server in England, for example, that's streaming the show live. And because of all this, I have asked SiriusXM to alter their normal method of doing business and allow free streaming for everybody from artbell.com. "If we get the opportunity to do this streaming, we will kick some serious butt...If not, we may not have a viable situation going forward." It appears that SiriusXM has decided not to work things out for Bell, as his website now indicates he posted the following on his Facebook page:

"Sometimes when you are 'all in' you win, sometimes lose. By mutual agreement, Dark Matter will no longer air as of tonight." HuffPost's call to SiriuxXM for a comment on this Bell rumor was not returned. When we contacted Noory (pictured at left), the top overnight radio host in the country, for his reaction, he merely said, "No comment." Plus, an unnamed source scheduled for an appearance on Bell's show received an email from someone in Bell's camp, which stated: "I regret to inform you (and all upcoming guests) that "Art Bell's Dark Matter" program will no longer be airing live shows effective immediately. I'm really thankful for your efforts with regards to being on the program and I truly apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. "Should events change in the future, I'll be sure to let you know." The show had only been on the air since Sept. 16, and tonight's program is a scheduled repeat, after only being on SiriusXM for just six weeks. And once again, Art Bell's radio voice is quiet.
