Customisation

With Circuit Wizard you can cus-

tomise the way the product looks
and behaves and save the settings
to a template for later use. This
capability is very useful as it allows
you to tightly focus Circuit Wizard to
the course youre teaching.
Ready-to-go PCBs
By combining circuit design and
PCB design in one fully integrated
package, weve been able to make it
even easier to create PCBs. All you
have to do is simply point to a cir-
cuit, click on Convert to PCB and
then leave Circuit Wizard to do the
rest. A ready-to-go PCB is produced
in a matter of moments.

PCB modellinga world first!
Have you ever designed a PCB only to find that it doesnt work when you
come to make it? Well, with Circuit Wizard that's a thing of the past as you
can now simulate PCBs on screen prior to manufacture. And dont worry,
unlike our competitors product which claims to offer the same, Circuit
Wizard actually simulates all of the tracks, pads and components to give you
very accurate results every time.
Virtual instruments
Circuit Wizard provides you with 7
virtual instruments for circuit analy-
sis including an oscilloscope, multi-
meter (analogue and digital), logic
analyser, wattmeter, function gener-
ator and word generator. In addition,
there are 4 virtual instruments for
use with PCB simulation. These
look and operate just like their real-
world counterparts and include a
digital multimeter, oscilloscope,
function generator and DC power
supply.

We recently purchased and are

now using Circuit Wizard. It's a
great piece of software and we
are pleased that we decided to
purchase it instead of continuing
to subscribe to your well known
rival [Crocodile Technology +
real-PCB].

Test your PCBs on-screen and
connect up instruments that
behave like the real thing. Watch
current flowing around the PCB.
Life-like components
Circuit Wizard comes with a com-
prehensive set of 3D components
that look just like the real thing. As
well as being able to use them as
off-board PCB components, you
can also wire them up to replace tra-
ditional circuit symbolsideal for
helping students at an introductory
level make the leap between under-
standing schematic diagrams and
real circuits.

PCB simulation is a real

bonus!! Having had students
frequently make mistakes in
manually converting circuits
to PCB layouts (and having
missed these errors myself
under the pressure of working
with groups of students on
different circuits) I believe
that this is without doubt the
most useful feature in Circuit
Wizard. It is also something
that I am not aware of in any
other software.

I think Circuit Wizard repre-

sents the biggest step forward

Innovative animation
Bright Spark uses advanced com-
puter-modelling techniques to show
what happens inside components
and connecting wires when elec-
trons flow around a circuit. This
means you can see voltage, current
and charge in action for the first
time, making these notoriously diffi-
cult concepts easier to grasp.
Simulation thats realistic
Bright Spark has over 40 superbly
animated components to investigate
as well as a comprehensive suite of
test instruments. There are no limits
to what you can build and you dont
need to worry about loose connec-
tions or faulty components. Though
bewareif the maximum ratings for
any components are exceeded,
theyll explode!
Designing your own circuits
Its quick and easy to design circuits
in Bright Spark. Just grab the com-
ponents you need, wire them
together and youre ready to begin
simulation. Because it's so straight-
forward, students can experiment
and explore freely at their own pace
without supervision.
Courseware
An important element of Bright
Spark is its courseware, which has
been designed to help you gain an
appreciation of the underlying sci-
ence of electronics. The courseware
contains a high level of animation
and interactivity and encourages
understanding through practical
investigation. A comprehensive
range of topics is covered including
electric charge, current, voltage,
conductance, resistance, capaci-
tance, Ohms law, Kirchoffs laws,
series circuits and parallel circuits.

I recently purchased Bright

Spark and have had great suc-
cess using it for presentations
in my classroom. I teach elec-
tronics at the community col-
lege level and find the circuit
animations very useful in
demonstrating complicated
subjects.

Why take the systems route?
The systems approach takes an
alternative route to the component
approach, considering instead the
functions of electronic circuits rather
than analysis of their constituent
parts. This makes it ideal for ele-
mentary courses where theres less
reliance on mathematical ability. As
a result, the systems approach is
recommended by exam boards as
being the best method of introduc-
ing electronics in Design
Technology courses.
Rapid prototyping
Control Studio 2 provides a rapid
method of developing circuit ideas,
allowing you to consider different
what if ? scenarios before arriving
at a final design solution. And
because Control Studio 2 is compat-
ible with Circuit Wizard, Livewire

automatically generate a circuit dia-
gram.
Designing the systems way
Designing circuits with Control
Studio 2 couldnt be easier. Simply
