PERFORMING FIRMWARE UPDATES. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCEDURE FOR PROLINK PREMIUM AND PRODIG-5 TV EXPLORER INSTRUMENTS 1.

- HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS a.- PC computer running on Windows 98, 2000 or XP, Pentium 133 or higher, Serial COM port RS-232. If your PC computer does not have a serial COM port, you can purchase a USB to serial COM port adapter available from your computer shop. Please make sure you install the adapter properly following the instructions given in its installation guide., b.- Serial communications cable DB9 to DB9 Null modem type, also referred to as PC/AT to PC/AT crossover, maximum 2 metres long. See annex for wiring diagram. c.- PkUpdate software application. This software is available in the download area of our website:

If you had previously installed in your computer an earlier version of this application please remove it before installing the new version using the control panel add/remove software.

d.- Uninstall PkUpdatate (if exists): To reach the UNINSTALL dialog go to START-Control Panel-Add or Remove Programs and choose PkUpdatate:

f.- Click Save and choose destination folder.

g.- When download finishes, press Open.

h.- You will see the files included in the zip file.

i.- Run Winzip or directly from the left Windows XP toolbar press the Extract all files button.

j.- Choose destination folder, for example pkupd1v30.

k.- The files will be extracted in the selected folder.

l.- When the extraction finishes press Finish.

m.- Go to the pkupd1v32 folder, run setup.exe and follow on-screen instructions.

n.- Set-up procedure begins.

o.- Press Install.

p.- When the installation is completed press Finish.

PKUpdate is now successfully installed and is ready to be used. There will be an icon on the desktop that you can use to run the program.

2.- UPGRADE FILES Download the upgrade files for the PROMAX model you want to update. Upgrade files are available in the download section of our website.

a.- Click on the firmware update files for the desired model:

b.- Choose destination folder and press Save.

c.- When download finishes, press Open.

3.- UPGRADE PROCEDURE a.- Connect the PROLINK Premium or TV EXPLORER to a free serial COM port. Note the number of the serial COM port used. b.- Run the PKUpdate.

c.- Software is ready to use.

Connect PRODIG-5 to the PC, start it up and make sure it is connected to the mains power adapter with AUTOPOWER set to OFF.

c.- Using the file open button select the update file UpdPG5. from the directory where the files are placed (pg5_4v01).

d.- Use the MODEL button to detect the EXPLORER or PROLINK Premium connected to the serial COM port. If you need to change the serial COM port number press the configure update button port. and select the desired

e.- Use the UPDATE button

to start the update process.

f. The advance can be observed on the progress bar.

g. The update process lasts approximately 10 minutes.

h. When the progress bar reaches 100%, a message Update process successful appears in the program window. i. It is advisable to reset the meter once this process is completed. To do that introduce a non metallic pin through the hole on the side of the meter.

THE EQUIPMENT IS NOW SUCCESSSFULLY UPDATED AND IS READY TO BE USED.
