TITLE : MEDICAL AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH CHECK-UPS

2.205.1 INTRODUCTION The Periodic Medical Examinations (PME) is the backbone of early diagnosis and treatment of preventable work related illnesses. 2.205.2 SCOPE The scope implies the proper and detailed sensitization of all employees of the benefits of being part of the exercise; preventive measures and proactive measures are established with the results from the periodic medical examination exercise. 2.205.3 RESPONSIBILITY Providing effective and efficient planning; execution of the periodic medical examination.

2.205.4 PROCEDURE 4.1 TARGET POPULATION As the effects of work related illnesses are potentially serious, PME is be mandatory for all employees at site including those associates whose duration of stay is sufficiently long enough to lead to exposure hazards.

4.2 FREQUENCY The frequency of these PME depends on the job/ risk profile of the individual. Frequencies of the PME are as follows: 4.2.1 Plant Personnel; annual 4.2.2 Non Plant Personnel; once in two years.

Specialized tests (Biological Exposure Index - BEI) are done at specified intervals to rule out early disease.

4.3 VISION:

4.3.1 In case a person is found to have vision impairment to the extent of 6/6 in one eye which cannot be corrected by prescription glasses or other means and thus constituting blindness, may be taken on rolls, if in the opinion of the Factory Medical Officer or a medical board, consisting of relevant specialists finds him fit to perform his duties without affecting the safety of the plant, provided the healthy eye has a vision of 6/6. 4.3.2 Examination of eye-sight for certain workers 4.3.2.1 Color vision impairment will not deem a person unfit for employment if in the opinion of the factory medical officer, the person will be able to discharge his / her duties normally.

4.3.2.2 In case of drivers, employed in any capacity, are found to be color blind they will be required to obtain a fitness certificate from a qualified ophthalmologist.

4.4 OTHER MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS: 4.4.1 As and when directed by the company 4.4.2 After returning from prolonged sick leave
