1.02 Quality Assurance A. Reference Codes and Standards: Comply with Section 15001 - Industry Codes and Standards. Test: The entire piping system shall be tested to 13.5 Bar (200 psig) and checked for completely functional operation and water distribution. Approvals: Contractor shall prepare detailed shop drawing locating and identifying valves and accessories, and showing exact routing, size and type of pipe, including spooling. Shop drawings shall be approved by Saudi Aramco Representative prior the Work is started. Completed installation is to be inspected and approved by Saudi Aramco Representative.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 Materials A. Piping: Unless otherwise noted on the Drawings, the following shall apply. 1. Aboveground firewater pipes inside buildings shall be galvanized carbon steel as per ASTM A-53, Grade B, Sch 40, ERW. B. Fittings: 1. Flanged pipe fittings shall conform to ANSI B16.5. 2. Screwed pipe fittings conforming to ANSI B16.3 or to ANSI B16.4. C. Valves 50mm (2) and Smaller: 1. Gate Valve: bronze gate valve as per ASTM B62, screwed ends, solid wedge, OS & Y, rising stem, UL and FM approved, 200 psi non-shock cold water. Check valves: bronze check valve as per ASTM B62, screwed ends, swing check, regrinding type, renewable composition disc, 200 psi non-shock cold water. UL and FM approved. Strainer: Y type, Bronze screwed type with blow off connection. Furnished with 20 mesh self- aligning stainless steel screen 400 psi WOG.

DESCRIPTION

Special Valves 1. Alarm Check Valve : Iron body, bronze mounted, variable pressure type with retarding chamber. Provide basic trimmings for alarm test by pass, gages, drain connections, mounting supports for retarding chamber, and drip funnel. Provide pressure sensitive alarm switch to actuate the fire alarm system. UL and FM approved. Drain Valves: Threaded bronze angle, globe, ball or butterfly, 150 lb. WOG equipped with reducer and hose connection with cap or connected to a drain line. Self-contained Test and Drain Valve: a. Ductile iron body with bronze Drain and Test bonnets. Acrylic sight glass for viewing test flow. Various sized orifice inserts to simulate flow through the last sprinkler on the branch it is attached, 25 mm (1 in.) female threaded outlets or 25 mm (1 in.) onequarter turn locking lug outlets for plain end pipe (end preparation to be in accordance with manufacturers recommend-ation). Bronze body, with chrome plated bronze ball, brass stem, steel handle, teflon seat and sight glasses. Provide valve with three position indicator plate (off, test, and drain), 6 mm (1/4 in.) tapping for pressure gage and various other orifice inserts to simulate flow through the last sprinkler on the branch it is attached.
