Founder: Arthur Turnure founded Vogue in 1892. Description: In 2006 Times Magazine Described Vogue as; "the world's most influential fashion magazine". Vogues wide-reaching influence stems from various sources, including the persona and achievements of its most famous editor, its various charitable and community projects, its ability to reflect political discourse through fashion and editorial articles, and its move to emerging economies.

2. Elle: Elle is a worldwide lifestyle magazine of French origin that focuses on fashion, beauty, health, and entertainment. Elle is also the world's bestselling fashion magazine. Editors: a. Robbie Myers (U.S). b. Valerie Toranian (France). c. Lorraine Candy (U.K). Founder: Pierre Lazareff and his wife Hlne Gordon founded it in 1945. Description: Today, it is the worlds largest fashion magazine, with 43 international editions in over 60 countries. Technologically speaking, the Elle brand is a global network encompassing over 33 websites. Subscriptions account for 73 percent of readers. There are 33 Elle websites globally, which collectively attract over 25 million unique visitors and 370 million page views per month Elle reaches over 21 million readers. The vast majority (82 percent) of Elle's audience are women between the ages of 18 and 49.

3. Marie Claire: Marie Claire is a monthly women's magazine first published in France but also distributed in other countries with editions specific to them and in their languages. Founder: Jean Prouvost and Marcelle Auclair founded the magazine in 1937. Description: While each country shares its own special voice with its audience, the United States edition focuses on women around the world and several worldwide issues. The magazine also covers health, beauty, and of course fashion topics.

4. Cosmopolitan: Cosmopolitan is an international magazine for women. It was first published in 1886 in the United States as a family magazine, was later transformed into a literary magazine and eventually became a women's magazine in the late 1960s. Editors: Joanna Coles (Editor in Chief). Founder: Launched in 1886 by Schlicht and Field of New York. Description: The magazine, and in particular its cover stories, have become increasingly sexually explicit in tone, and covers have models wearing revealing clothes. Kroger, America's largest grocery chain, used to cover up Cosmopolitan at checkout stands because of complaints about sexually inappropriate headlines The UK edition of Cosmopolitan, which began in 1972, was well known for sexual explicitness, with strong sexual language, male nudity and coverage of such subjects as rape.

5. Vanity Fair: Vanity Fair is a magazine of pop culture, fashion, and current affairs published by Cond Nast. The present Vanity Fair has been published since 1983 and there have been editions for four European countries as well as the U.S. edition. This revived the title which had ceased publication in 1935 after a run from 1913. Editors: Graydon Carter (Editor in Chief). Founder: Cond Nast Publications, under the ownership of S.I. Newhouse, announced in June 1981 that it was reviving the magazine. The first issue was published in February 1983 (cover date March), edited by Richard Locke. Description: Famous photographers form the lineup of the magazine, this include Bruce Weber, Annie Leibovitz, Mario Testino and Herb Ritts, all who have provided the magazine with a string of lavish covers and full-page portraits of current celebrities. Amongst the most famous of these was the August 1991 Leibovitz cover featuring a naked, pregnant Demi Moore, an image entitled More Demi Moore that to this day holds a spot in pop culture.

6. Glamour: Glamour is a women's magazine published by again, the Cond Nast Publications. The magazine is published in a larger format than many of its counterparts. Editors: a. b. c. d. e. f. g. Description: It targets women 1849 (with the median age of 33.5) and reaches a subscription audience of 1,411,061 readers in the United States. Its circulation on newsstands is 986,447, making the total average paid circulation: 2,397,508. Since 1980, the magazine has held an annual "Women of the Year" awards ceremony.

7. In-Style: InStyle is a monthly womens fashion magazine published in the United States by Time Inc. Along with advertising, the magazine offers articles about beauty, fashion, home, entertaining, charitable endeavors and celebrity lifestyles. Editors: a. b. c. d. e. f. Founder: Barbra Streisand and Time Inc in 1994. Description: Setting itself apart from other similar women's magazines, InStyle was one of the first to have a famous musical artist or actor as the cover model, as opposed to the majority of other magazines who were only putting models on their covers. The magazine also differentiates from others in that it has always had celebrities open their homes to be featured on the pages so the readers could get insight and inspiration.

GQ: GQ (originally Gentlemen's Quarterly) is an American monthly men's magazine focusing on fashion, style, and culture for men, through articles on food, movies, fitness, sex, music, travel, sports, technology, and books. Editors: Jim Nelson (Editor in Chief). Founder: Gentlemen's Quarterly was launched in 1931 in the United States as Apparel Arts by Cond Nast Publications. Description: GQ is published in Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom, and USA. The magazine reported an average U.S. paid circulation of 824,334 issues per month, of which 609,238 were subscriptions. 73% of the readership is men, and 63% are single. 65% of readers had an annual income of $50,000 or greater; and 25% had an income greater than $75,000.

9. Esquire: Esquire is a men's magazine, published in the U.S. by the Hearst Corporation. David M. Granger was named editor-in-chief of the magazine in June 1997. Since his arrival, the magazine has received numerous awards, including multiple National Magazine Awards the industrys highest honor. Editors: David M. Granger (Editor in Chief). Founder: Founded in October 1933 by David A. Smart, Henry L. Jackson (who was killed in the crash of United Airlines Flight 624) and Arnold Gingrich. Description: The annual feature Sexiest Woman Alive designation by the magazine is billed as a benchmark of female attractiveness. Originally, it was a part of the "Women We Love" issue that was released in November. To build interest, the magazine would do a tease, releasing images of the woman's body parts in the issues preceding the November issue. By 2007, it had become the dominating story of the issue and to create an element of surprise the hints were abandoned.

10. Allure: Allure is a U.S. womens beauty magazine, published monthly by Cond Nast in New York City. A signature of the magazine is its annual Best of Beauty awardsaccolades given in the October issue to beauty products deemed the best by magazine staff. Editors: Linda Wells (Editor in Chief). Founder: Founded in 1991 by editor in chief Linda Wells, who has been at the helm of the magazine ever since. Description: Allure focuses on beauty, fashion, and womens health. Allure was the first womens magazine to write about the health risks associated with silicone breast implants, and has reported on other controversial health issues. The magazines circulation, initially 250,000 in 1991, is over 1 million as of 2011.
