,_To' ALL wHoM 1r MAY CoNoERN: l - Be it known that I, P_ETE SWISHEmof Versailles, in the countyof Darke, and'State of Ohio, have invented

a _new and; improved Burglar Alarm Gun; and I zio-hereby declarethat the following is a full, clear, and exact
description thereof, which _will enableothers vskilled in the art to make and use the same, referencefbeing had to
4the accompanying drawings, forming part 'of this specification, in which- i _ `

. Figure 1 is a side view of my improved burglar alarm gun, partlyirr section. Figure 2 -_is a topview of the same. '
_ _ _ _ _ Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.

Thisinvention relates to an improved compound gun, having several barrels', so connected'andarranged _as to be ired simultaneously, and aiming-in different directions, as a defence against _burglars It is designed 'to attach it >to a` dooror window through which a burglar may enter,`___the opening' of which door or'window will cause 'the trigger of the gunto be pulled,.and discharge it, when the _explosion will alarm the'household and `probably shoot the burglar, as_'the barrels- may be so placed as'to_ bring him in range at several points of
entrance.f _ .

_ In the drawing, g. 1, is shown a gun or pistol, with three barrels, l, 2, The upper barrel, No.1, is permanently fixed upon, or forms a _continuation of, an ironihandle or stock, A, with which it may be' fastened

by a elainp,_~r in any convenient manner,_to `the door _frame or~other object vwhere the _gun may be required.

_andin whichisthe lock for operating a' hammer, 1_5. The lock may be o_f any ordinary construction. -a is a
"trigger, to spring the hammer, by means-of a. ywire attached to the door or window'to be'opened b_y the burglar 5 bis the cap cone.>` A round ymetal. breech-pin, C, is screwed'rmly at- right angles 'to the under-side of the
_breech of the barrel No. 1, in the middle of which _pin is al small hole,- c, runningA longitudinally, and commu

nicating'with- the vent of Vthe upper barrel, No. 1. The two bar'rels, .Nos._2 and 3, are fitted upon the breech- _fpin C', asa pivot _ou which they turn around,-to be 4placed atany point, land vvrange in d?lbrent directions,as
_ desired for shooting, and are held in place upon the -pinl .by a screw?nut, @Lou the lower end of the pin, The'v

bores m'm of the _barrels 2I and?, extend back to the pivotil breech-pin C, and communicate with annular grooves,
e c, on the periphery of the-pin, in line with them;l and the grooves ~e._e communicate with _the central longi

tudinal .hole c of- the breech-pin by ,small transverse holes, n_n, all of which grooves and holes in- the lbreech-`
pin C are priming or touch-holes, to be . lled withI powder when the barrels are loaded. _

The operation, or 'manner of ring all the barrels at once, in .whatever position the two 1owerones,2 Iand 3, - may be Iplacedpen. the'bree'chpin C, _is manifest, asthe bores m m are always in _communication withthe annulargrooves e c when-the barrels are revolved upouit, and the holes n n leading fromthe-,grooves connect with _the f 4_central hole c, which communicateswith Athe vent of ,the uppcr'barreL'No. _1._ V'.lhusthe 'train' of powder which

lls them 'is red,-and discharges all the barrels simultaneously, when thecap is exploded by the `hammer B.
' 0n thcside of the st_o'ck A is fastened a small powder pan,.h, which communicates' with the vent of the upper barrel. It may'be-iilled with powder when the alor-_in_gun is set, and a match' and candle _so connected with it _
_ as to be lighted when the gun is fired. ~ ' '

Having described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure 'by LettersPatent- _

_ , 1. _In _the construction of va. burglar alarm gun, the combination ofl _the fixed barrel, No. 1, andthe revol_v-' _

.ing barrels 2 and >3, with _the breech-pin C, for, firing simultaneously'in> di?erent directions, substantially as
and for the purposes herein~ described. 'Y

2. `I claim the breech-piaf), having the central _longitudinal hole c, the transverse hole n, andthe annular.
grooves `e, communicating with the vent of the 'upper barrel No'. 1, and the bores of the revolving barrels Nos: _
2 and 3, all arranged and operated substantially as_and for the purposes herein described. _
ner herein__speeicd._ ` ' `

_
_ _

3. I claim also,I tho _outside powder panh, for lighting a candle _or lamp when the gun is fired, in_ the man,
