The Foxs Medicine

All the animals in a jungle were afraid of the lion. The lion was the king of the jungle. One day, the lions leg was wounded. He was in a lot of pain. One after another, the animals came to visits him. The lion discovered that the fox was the only one who had not come. Where is the fox? He asked angrily. The wolf did not like the fox. This was his chance to get the fox into trouble. He quickly went forward to speak to the lion. Your Majesty, the wolf said, All the animals who have come to visit you care about how you are getting on. Only the fox does not seem to care. This shows that he does not respect Your Majesty enough... On hearing that, the lion became very, very angry. The wolf was pleased with himself as he left the place. The fox soon came to know what the wolf had done. He heard some animals talking about what the wolf had said to the lion about himself. Is that true? he asked the owl. Yes, I heard it too, said the owl. I must teach that wicked wolf a lesson. The fox said himself. The fox at once went to see the lion. He said, Oh King of the Jungle...I ve come to explain why i did not come earlier. Ah, so you are here at last, said the lion, still angry with him. What excuse can you give, I wonder? The fox said, I heard that Your Majesty was wounded, so I went to search for the medicine that would be best for Your Majesty. Oh, thats good of you, said the lion, now no longer angry with the fox. I went to many places till I discovered it, said the fox. Then I hurried back to tell Your Majesty the news, Well then, dont waste my time, said the lion impatiently. Quickly tell me what medicine can cure me? His pain had been getting worse. The Fox said, What is needed is an animal who is ready to sacrifice himself for Your Majesty. The lion could not wait to try the new medicine. He grabbed the fox by the neck and shook him saying, Tell me at once what medicine can cure my pain! When the lion had freed him, the fox said, Your Majesty will have to peel off the skin of the wolf. Then while the skin is warm, it must be torn into small pieces for wrapping round Your Majestys leg. The leg will heal very fast after that. Now! roared the lion, if that must be done, it shall be done! the lion at once called the leopard to his side. Kill the wolf and peel his skin for me! he ordered. The wolf was nearby he was too shocked to move. The leopard pounced on the wolf and killed him. The fox started walking off. He was pleased to have taken revenge on the wolf.
