Teaching Teaching Philosophy "Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family." ~ Kofi Annan I take the role of educator very seriously and I understand the great impact of education on the individual and our society. I have found that students learn best when they feel safe to take risks, are engaged in the content, and have a sense of belonging in the class. I focus on developing a learning environment that is accessible to all learners, regardless of background or ability; that celebrates the unique traits of each student; and that creates a feeling that all students are part of the learning team. I embrace the constructivist approach to teaching and learning. The concepts of active learning and collaboration are central to my philosophy of education. As a teacher, I most enjoy teaching using real-world situations, emphasizing decision-making, self-reflection, and interpersonal relationships in a meaningful context.
