Interpretation of the Question The final essay question requires us to select a company, one of its products and a specific

region where it operates (besides the headquartered region). With respect to the selected product, the product industry needs to be analyzed and the impact of globalization on the product industry has to be assessed. Subsequently, the companys mode of entry into the selected region should be identified and evaluated. Lastly, it needs to be realized possibly, also considering the product industry whether the companys strategies in the selected region have been successful or whether they still face issues. Besides these specifications, the underlying requirement of the final essay question may be interpreted as an assessment of students knowledge of theory learned in the course and its application. It should be noted that tentatively, it is assumed that the final essay select would be based upon Huawei as the company, networking technologies as the product and UK as the region.

Tentative Line of Argumentation The paper would start from the broader prospect of discussing market entry strategies that are atypical of the product industry. It would then focus on the specific market entry strategies that are employed by Huawei, and subsequently to only those market entry strategies that have been used by Huawei in case of UK. The performance of Huawei in the UK networking hardware in direct relation to applied strategy would also be assessed. In consideration of all this, it would be argued that Huaweis market entry strategies have been lackluster and in some cases inappropriate in providing it with a competitive edge in the UK market.

Proposed Structure The essay would comprise of six sections. The first section would be a brief introduction outlining the purpose of the essay and the line of argumentation that would be followed. The second section would thoroughly assess the viability of UK networking industry for Huawei through country analysis models and analytical tools. The third section would find evidence for the line of argumentation by assessing theoretically the marketing entry strategies that Huawei

has used in case of its UK operations. This would be done by considering literature on market entry strategies. The fourth section would similarly assess Huaweis performance in UK to realize whether it supports the line of argumentation or not. This would take into consideration newspaper reports and Huaweis press statements and annual report. The fifth section would take into consideration information realized in the previous three sections and discuss whether all of these points illustrate redundancies in Huaweis strategy or not. The last section would conclude whether the proposed line of argumentation is supported or disproved by inferences from discussion and analysis.

Factual and Theoretical Clarity Maintaining factual accuracy relates to ensuring that information realized is as close to what the case actually is rather than subjective interpretations. To ensure this, it is important that an argument is assessed from as many perspectives as possible. This would be maintained by ensuring that all possible perspectives to Huaweis market entry strategy are considered and ensuring that the error of false dichotomization, i.e. only considering two sides to an argument, is avoided. One manner in which multiple perspectives can be applied is by considering two analytical tools to analyze given evidence rather than only a single analytical tool. For instance to assess the UK networking industry, both Porters Diamond Model and PESTEL Model maybe applied under the pretext of country analysis. Similarly, taking into consideration as much relevant literature and information as possible can also lead to ensuring factual accuracy. Similarly, to ensure theoretical clarity, errors in logic would have to be avoided. This can be done by ensuring that the two most common errors in logic are avoided; i.e. leaps in logic and overgeneralization. A manner in which this might be achieved is by ensuring proper and holistic applications of theoretical models and applying appropriate weightage to inferences and realized evidence.

Relevance of Literature (Annotated Bibliography) To ensure that literature used is relevant and useful in the overall argument, all sources would be considered under the context of an annotated bibliography. This would ensure that all sources are critically assessed and only relevant sources are taken into account. The annotated bibliographies of some sources that have been deemed relevant are provided below; 1. Lymbersky, C. (2008) Market Entry Strategies: Text, Cases and Readings in Market Entry Management, Hamburg: Management Laboratory Press. The textbook is a comprehensive source of information such as theories and actual cases on market entry strategies and international business. The book has been written as a guide for MBA students of International Business. The source is quite important for our case as it provides a one-stop for information regarding market entry strategy. More important however is the wealth of case studies that are provided with regards to separate market entry strategies and how these market entry strategies have been affected by the environment of given countries. These analyses are much similar to the actual requirement of the final essay, and hence reading them is quite beneficial for this essay.

2. Wu, D. and Zhao, F. (2007) Entry Modes for International Markets: Case Study of Huawei, A Chinese Technology Enterprise, International Review of Business Research Papers, vol. 3, no. 1, pp. 183-196. The source extensively considers what factors affect the entry mode selection of Chinese high-tech firms into foreign markets. The article finds that Huawei extensively takes into consideration the products industrial characteristics and the foreign markets technological reputation in formulating its market entry strategy. The information provided in the article is quite valid and accurate as the article is published in a peer-reviewed journal. The article is quite important for the final essay as it extensively outlines the entry mode that Huawei has used so far and the entry mode that Huawei intends to use for the UK market. Moreover, it explains the factors affecting Huaweis market entry decisions and as such allows us to judge accurately our line of argumentation.

3. Matlay, H. and Fletcher, D. (2000) Globalization and strategic change: some lessons from the UK small business sector, Strategic Change, vol. 9, no. 7, pp. 437449. This source takes into consideration how globalization in recent years has impacted UK businesses and UK, in general. The source is quite important for our case as it is one of the few studies on the impact of globalization that allows us to assess the impact with relevance to our selected country for the final paper.
