FLOW ASSURANCE Where tradition and innovation meet

To Scandpower, ow assurance covers issues such as systems regularity, reliability and risk management, in addition to the traditional ow assurance issues such as transient multiphase ow simulations and solids management. Putting all of this together, Scandpower can offer a range of ow assurance services that are broad as well as innovative. Tools OLGA is an industry standard software for transient multiphase ow simulations. It has gained its reputation in countless successful studies of complex developments all around the world. PVTsim is an industry standard software for determining the PVT properties of multicomponent systems, primarily hydrocarbon systems. Even in a dynamic world, the properties of systems at equilibrium conditions are vital information. RiskSpectrum is an industry standard to the nuclear industry. Half of the worlds nuclear power plants use RiskSpectrum to manage risk. This is a testimony of RiskSpectrums stability, versatility, and powerfulness. Suited for everything from the basic fault tree with AND and OR gates to advanced fault tree and event tree integration of sequences in linked event trees RiskSpectrum can offer valuable capabilities in ow assurance studies. @RISK is a state of the art software for performing Monte Carlo simulations. Carlo technique uses random numbers to describe and evaluate uncertainty. Today such simulations are widely used for quantitative decision support. Scandpowers transient subsea gas plume model gives a quantitative description of how subsea gas leakages develop into gas clouds in the air. By combining the transient gas leakage rate and composition (from OLGA) with Scandpowers transient plume model (developed in cooperation with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology) input is generated to enable simulation of gas dispersion in the atmosphere using 3D CFD (Kameleon FireX) Services Flow assurance is a core activity during fiel development and operations. Here are some questions Scandpower can assist in answering: How long does it take to depressurize the production system ? Can the system be depressurized to below the hydrate formation pressure at all, simply by opening valves ? How will gas lift affect the slug pattern ? If the platform EV erroneously opens after phase segregation has taken place in a shut-in riser, will the pressure peak in the inlet arrangement exceed the design pressure? Or the test pressure? How often can it be expected that the methanol injection system fails ? What is the single most likely cause of failure ?

What is the one modication to the MEG system that will have the greatest effect in terms of reducing the hydrate formation risk ? How long can the subsea system be shut-in before it enters conditions favorable for hydrate formation ? What is the consequence of choke collapse during normal production and start-up with respect to maximum allowable pressure in the inlet arrangement/separator ? Will test pressure be exceeded ? How fast does a primary barrier (EV) need to close to avoid overpressurising the inlet arrangement/separator upon erroneous opening of EV when topside choke is fully open ?

How will the topside choke opening affect the slug pattern ? What insulation thickness is sufcient in order to keep uid temperature above hydrate formation temperature during normal production? Will the platform of the drilling rig be exposed to ammable gas in case of a subsea riser leakage or a subsea blow out? Is it possible to detect a leak in a gas lift valve from pressure measurements in a cooling annulus?
