FIREPLACE GUIDE

GOT QUESTIONS? ZONE HEATING

Why is a fireplace more efficient than using the furnace alone? Zone heating means you are heating the room that you use the most with an alternative heat source, like a Napoleon Fireplace. Zone heating is the obvious solution for families concerned about rising fuel costs.

HEATING
Why should I choose Ceramic Glass over Tempered Glass? All our heating fireplaces radiate heat through the glass doors and also through the metal heat exchangers into the room. Tempered glass doors reflect more heat back into the fireplace and then vent it out the chimney. Ceramic glass doors, while much more expensive, do allow more heat through the ceramic glass, giving you better efficiency and a warmer radiant heat into the room.

DECORATIVE FIREPLACES
Why choose a heating fireplace over a decorative fireplace? Decorative fireplaces are ones that you can simply open a door or move back a wire mesh and place your hand directly into the fire. When they operate, they take heat directly out of the room and exhaust it up the chimney with the exhaust gases. They are a less expensive alternative and give the look of a real fire on family occasions. As they have a constant opening to the outside air through the chimney, they tend to allow cool outside air fall down the chimney to enter the room when not in use. Heating fireplaces are sealed and do not allow the cool outside air to flow into the room.

NO POWER...NO PROBLEM
Can I use my fireplace for emergency heat during a power outage? Yes. If you use your power from 3 hours to 3 days, a fireplace will provide some heat for the home. It provides peace of mind when its cold outside and some heat is flowing into your home. It is also an added benefit if your main heating system breaks down after hours and avoiding overtime repairs.
