Final Project Preparation

1. Note your organization of study

The organization which I would be further researching on is Genpact. Genpact is

listed on NYSE under name G. Genpact is a leader in the globalization of services and

technology and a pioneer in managing business processes for companies around the

world. The Company combines process expertise, information technology and analytical

capabilities with operational insight and experience in diverse industries to provide a

wide range of services using its global delivery platform. Genpact helps companies

improve the ways in which they do business by applying Six Sigma and Lean principles

plus technology to continuously improve their business processes. Genpact operates

service delivery centers in India, China, Hungary, Mexico, Morocco, the Philippines,

Poland, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Guatemala and the United States.

2. Gather three relevant scholarly resources (beyond the organization's website and our

textbook)

3. Briefly comment upon in your own words, the organization's mission.

Genpact’s mission is to leverage its intellectual talent across the world and

provide process excellence to companies, making them more productive and enabling

them to focus on their core competencies. Genpact has helped its clients achieve

significant operational savings while applying Six Sigma and other quality methodologies

to improve more their processes.

4. Describe one HR policy/initiative that is well aligned with the organization's mission.

Training and Development is an important function of HRM, post recruitment,

candidate should be given required training so that they meet the performance standards

of the organization and meet strategic goals laid down by the leadership team. Genpact is

committed to ensure that all their employees are given enough training at all levels of

organization; it invests abundantly in its training and development. For example an

employee who is grown from entry level position to middle level management, is given 4

day Six Sigma training and subsequently mentored by Six Sigma Black Belts to pick up a

project for quality improvements. It’s a great learning experience for the employee and

benefits the organization as that employee can use this training to impact positively for

the business. So I see a direct relation between its mission and how the organization is

using its training and development function to increase productivity.

5. Note one HR policy that is appears unaligned with the organization's mission.

I can’t imagine thinking of a particular policy that is not aligned with the organizations

mission, as I believe the HR system was very well structured internally for instance, we had IT

systems which would help us track our productivity, scheduling, training programs etc .

However in terms of alignment there were certain aspects which were not directly in sync with

the mission. One such positive aspect that I recall is ‘Rewards and Recognination’ aka. R&R.

This was organized by the Operations leadership team and HR team once every quarter. The

objective of this was to reward and appreciate contribution of employees who were exceeding

expectation in their respective jobs. This was a positive unalignment to the mission but subtle to

ensure an indirect relation to the mission.
