INVITATIoN FRoM PeNNweLL

Dear Industry Colleagues, On behalf of Offshore magazine and the entire PennWell Corp, it is my sincere pleasure to invite you to engage with your peers from around the world at the 18th annual Offshore West Africa Conference and Exhibition (OWA), Jan. 21-23, 2014, at the International Conference Center in Accra, Ghana. We are delighted to present this edition of OWA under the esteemed patronage of the Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister of Energy & Petroleum, Ministry of Energy & Petroleum, Ghana. The Honorable Minister has kindly agreed to open the conference with a Welcome Address. It also is our pleasure to welcome to the Opening Session, Mr. Muntaga M. Sallah, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum, The Gambia. The theme of the forthcoming Offshore West Africa, Expanding West Africas Offshore Potential, underscores the increasing interest in the regions emerging hydrocarbon potential. Geologists believe the source rocks in the African side of the Equatorial Transform Margin are analogous to the prolific basins discovered in the presalt areas offshore Brazil. Recent drilling success offshore Ghana and Angola is spurring interest from major operators and independents alike, while the prospect of an extended petroleum system is opening up the possibilities to new African nations. Meanwhile, traditional shelf and deepwater areas offshore West Africa continues to provide a stable reserves base. Under the guidance of Advisory Board Chairman, Theo Ahwireng, Manager of Geophysics, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, and committee members, OWA 2014 provides the tools and resources to offshore upstream industry professionals that are seeking new business opportunities in the West African region. The two-track technical program, as you will see in the following pages of this preliminary event guide, includes presentations from leading industry operators and contractors on a variety of topics. These include: Regional Trends & Challenges Field Development Floating Production Systems Subsea Intervention Flowlines & Pipelines Deepwater Exploration Well Construction & Drilling Operations Operations & Logistics Local Content

Leaders of select national and international operating companies from the region will convene in a panel session format in the morning on the second day to share insights on the opportunities and challenges to develop West Africas expanding offshore opportunities. Anchoring the program on the final day is the traditional local content panel discussion that always encourages lively debate. The panelists will share best practices, challenges, and strategies for growing local content in Ghana and the greater West African region. I trust you will find OWA 2014 an ideal platform for networking, sharing technical and business solutions, and continuing education. I hope to see you in Ghana. Sincerely, David Paganie Chief Editor, Offshore magazine Conference Director, Offshore West Africa PennWell

INVITATION FROM ADVISORY BOARD CHAIR

Greetings Industry Colleagues, It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Accra, Ghana for the Offshore West Africa 2014 conference and exhibition. This event marks the 18th year of Offshore West Africa (OWA) and, a return to Ghana after the successful events here in 2011 and 2013. As an annual event, OWA provides the technical forum for the discussions of the advancement of oil and gas exploration and production activities in the West African sub-region. The accompanying exhibitions to the conference will present the technologies that are available and applicable to the industry for the exploitation of the abundant resources in the offshore West Africa. As the chairman of the advisory board, I encourage you to attend the annual event taking place in the hub of oil and gas activities in the sub-region and benefit from the carefully packaged session topics touching on areas such as; lessons learned from recent field developments and emerging technical solutions; new challenges in deepwater and understanding key technological solutions; and perspectives on local content in the sub-region. The benefits from the forum are not limited to the technical sessions; it equally provides networking opportunities with leading players and stakeholders in the industry. This business opportunity for partnering in the search for replicating hydrocarbon reserves in the deepwater becomes imperative in a world where the price of oil and gas are stimulating industrial activities. Once again, on behalf of the OWA Advisory Board, PennWell Corporation and Offshore, the worlds leading offshore oil and gas magazine, I am pleased to welcome industry leaders from West Africa and around the world to this exceptional forum to exchange ideas, share solutions, and learn from each others experience. Theo Ahwireng Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Offshore West Africa 2014 Advisory Board Chair
