The research of weed flora and vegetation characteristics of orchards was set up from the 2001 until 2003. It was found that there are 226 weed species in the orchards in the north-western Bosnia. They are classified in 45 families, considering that 162 species are classified in only 10 families, of which 50 species are Asteracea family. The rich weed diversity and the great specificness of weed plants point out the complex problem of their control. The established weed species show the great diversity in the ecological sense. The ecological index for the most important ecological factors varies greatly which is understandable considering the differentness of the area of Bosnia. Among the weed species of orchards in the north-western part of Bosnia it was established five types of life shape with the clearly outstanding domination of chemicroptophyts (40.7%), while there was a considerable presence of the therophytes (26.1%) as well as therophytes/ hamephytes (19.03%). Geophytes are included with 9.7%, which has a special importance in the protection because the well developed underground organs. Euroasian, Submideuropean, Subeuroasian, Submediterian flora's elements give the basic biogeographycal characteristics to the weed flora of the orchards. There is a great number of flora elements- sixteen, which points out that the different phytogeographycal areas influence this area.
