TeamLuby Update Week of January 13, 2014

Spring Street School


Mrs. Lubys class
We are excited about our Family
Traditions and Artifacts Museum on Wed.
1/15 from 9:15 10:00 AM in the cafeteria
family and friends are invited!!
Remember those Box
Tops for Education! We will
collect labels in the classroom
before sending to the office
for official counts! Hoot can
be ours for a month!
We will also be creating Valentine
cards for local elderly housing centers and
others in early February. If you see any
cool stickers, stickie foam
shapes, doilies, or other fun
Valentine Day supplies,
please send them in. We will be making
Valentines with our buddy class on Friday,
Feb. 7 from 2:15 3:00 PM. We would love
your help if you are available! Just let me
know!
Please have your child continue with
Scootpad assignments and Spelling City on-
line.
Media Wed. 9:10 AM
Dont forget sneakers on Tuesday and
recorders on Wednesday!

This week we continue with the
Molasses Flood looking at whats important
in the text as well as making inferences
about the people and time in history.








Writing

We return to informative writing
working with essays on Thomas Edison,
elephants and music.
Math
We have begun our adventures into
log division will continue this week as well
as use whole circle protractors.. Check out
the Long Division Instruction PPT on
TeamLubyResources as well as other sites
to help your child practice.
EVERYDAY MATH FAMILY LETTERS
can be found on-line this year! As in past years,
they contain unit vocabulary, activities, and

Social Studies
We continue with rights and
responsibilities of the Bill of Rights and
especially the First Amendment. Quiz next
week study guide will go home on Wed.

Science - from the desk of Mrs. Liporto
In science this week we will be
learning about wedges, complex/compound
machines (those that are made up of two or
more simple machines) and then reviewing
for our upcoming test. The study guide for
the test (which will be on Thursday, Jan.
23rd) will be coming home on Thursday. A
copy of the study guide can also be found
on the classroom blog. If your students
has free time and is looking for something
to do, theres a fun website to review
simple machines called Edheads.
